Devils' Advocate panel unconvinced by Sesko

As we reported on Tuesday morning, Manchester United have put RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko at the top of their wishlist.
The 22-year-old scored 21 goals in 45 appearances last season and has 16 in 41 for the Slovenia national side.
This week's BBC Radio Manchester's The Devils' Advocate podcast has pondered whether he would be a good fit at Old Trafford.
"He is absolutely better than what we have got, but whether he can transfer what he has done before into the Premier League is a totally different question," said presenter Gaz Drinkwater.
"He is young as well - maybe we need a bit more experience up front. I'm not talking about someone like Jamie Vardy, but someone with a bit more experience I would like."

Beşiktaş 'reach agreement' with Leicester for Wilfred Ndidi

Turkish football powerhouse Beşiktaş have reached an agreement with Leicester City to sign Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, marking the conclusion of a prolonged transfer saga. Outlet Fanatik have confirmed that Ndidi has been invited to Istanbul to complete his medical examinations and finalise personal terms, with a 3+1-year contract on the table. The transfer fee is reportedly set at €9.5 million (£8.3 million), a figure Leicester City have accepted despite Ndidi's release clause being higher. The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the English club and has chosen not to renew following Leicester's relegation from the Premier League. Ndidi has been a key figure for Leicester since his arrival in 2017, making over 240 appearances and earning a reputation as one of the Premier League's most effective ball-winning midfielders. In the 2024–25 season, he featured in 30 matches, scoring once and assisting five times. His consistent performances over the years have attracted interest from several European clubs, but it is Beşiktaş who have made the decisive move. The transfer is seen as a major boost for Beşiktaş ahead of the new season, especially with the added demands of domestic competition and potential European fixtures. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, newly installed at the helm, reportedly played a key role in pushing for the transfer, having admired Ndidi's abilities during his time in England. For Ndidi, the move represents an opportunity to compete at a high level and play an influential role in a club with strong ambitions. The Turkish Super Lig offers a fresh challenge, and Beşiktaş are hopeful that his arrival will bring much-needed stability and strength to the centre of the pitch. Both clubs appear satisfied with the outcome of the negotiations, with Turkish media describing the deal as a 'happy ending.' Supporters have already begun to celebrate what they believe is one of the most significant signings of the summer for the club. Ndidi is expected to arrive in Istanbul within days to complete the final formalities before being officially unveiled as a Beşiktaş player. 📸 Michael Regan - 2025 Getty Images

Inter Milan Will Only Sign A Defender If They Sell One – Genoa Star Tops Shortlist

Inter Milan will only sign a defender this summer if they sell one, with Genoa's Koni De Winter at the top of their shortlist. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. It has long seemed as though Inter would move for a defender this summer. After all, the Nerazzurri's current backline isn't getting any younger. The likes of Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi will turn 34 and 38 respectively next season. Therefore, Inter have been targeting defenders who are much younger than that for months. And in the meantime, Inter have taken steps to lower the average age of the squad. They've signed young players like Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny. As well as bringing Francesco Pio Esposito into the first-team fold. The likeliest candidate would probably be Yann Bisseck, the newspaper notes. However, the Nerazzurri are in no hurry to sell the German international. Meanwhile, Bisseck himself is also more than happy to say. He reportedly gave the cold shoulder to Crystal Palace after the Premier League club made an offer for him. If Inter were to sell a defender this summer, however, the Gazzetta name Genoa's Koni De Winter as the player they would be most inclined to move for as a replacement.
