Saudi Defense Ministry Hosts Eighth Meeting of 'Dragon Group' Chiefs of Staff

The Saudi Ministry of Defense hosted the eighth meeting of the "Dragon Group" Chiefs of Staff in Riyadh., reported the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by the chiefs of staff and representatives from Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, United Kingdom, and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The meeting was opened by Saudi Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili and covered topics of common interest, including counter-terrorism, developments in the Palestinian territories, the need for humanitarian aid access, and regional de-escalation efforts.
The participants stressed the importance of maritime security, ensuring the safety of waterways, and strengthening anti-smuggling and anti-piracy operations.

During the reception, Al-Khuraiji and Kozlov reviewed ties between Saudi Arabia and Russia and discussed topics of mutual interest. Earlier in July, Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Lavrov during an official visit to Moscow. Both diplomats reviewed bilateral relations and the historical friendship between their nations. They also explored ways to further bolster ties and expand cooperation across various fields. Moreover, the two ministers discussed the recent developments in the region and efforts made to address them. Prince Faisal also praised the robust Saudi-Russian relations and the growing tourist activity between the two countries. Saudi Gazette report DAMASCUS — A high-level Saudi delegation led by Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih arrived in Damascus on Wednesday ahead of the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum, set to take place Thursday, marking a significant step toward restoring economic cooperation between the two countries. The visit, conducted under the directive of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, includes the participation of more than 150 Saudi businessmen and investors. It reflects the Kingdom's growing commitment to supporting Syria's economic recovery through direct engagement and private sector involvement. The Ministry of Investment, in coordination with the Federation of Saudi Chambers, is leading efforts to enable Saudi businesses to participate in reconstruction and development opportunities across Syria. The forum is expected to witness the announcement of investment agreements worth SR21 billion across 11 key sectors. These include real estate, infrastructure, information and communications technology, transportation, industry, tourism, energy, trade and investment, healthcare, human resources, and financial services. According to sources, the deals will include residential and commercial developments in cities such as Damascus and Homs, the construction of cement and gypsum factories to support local industry, and advanced digital infrastructure projects that will help modernize Syria's communications systems and data capabilities. Further agreements will address energy generation, hospital rehabilitation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, vocational training, and the revitalization of Damascus International Airport in line with international standards. In addition, financial sector agreements will focus on enabling fintech collaboration, dual listings, and sustainable investment initiatives. The forum will also serve as a platform for 38 memorandums of understanding to be signed between Saudi and Syrian stakeholders. More than 150 Saudi representatives from both public and private sectors are expected to attend, alongside over 400 participants from Syria. The event is seen as a pivotal moment in reviving bilateral ties and fostering a new era of trust, economic partnership, and joint development. Saudi officials have emphasized that the initiative aligns with the vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to promote regional prosperity through strategic investment and cooperation. The Ministry of Investment said the forum embodies Saudi Arabia's belief in investment as a tool for peace, stability, and mutual growth—contributing to the rebuilding of Syria while reinforcing the Kingdom's role in leading regional development and integration under Vision 2030.

Investment Opportunities The high-level visit aims to strengthen the fraternal bonds and historic ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria, and support Syria's economic recovery and growth, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). To this end, a delegation comprising more than 120 businessmen and investors, as well as senior officials from the public and private sectors, will explore promising investment opportunities, facilitate bilateral cooperation, and tackle challenges facing investors to advance the economic interests of both countries. The visit aligns with the Saudi Investment Ministry's efforts to empower the Saudi private sector to take part in Syria's reconstruction and economic recovery efforts. This includes identifying companies interested in investing and holding a series of introductory workshops. Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum Moreover, the Saudi Investment Ministry will hold the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum 2025 in Damascus, during which several investment deals, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and joint projects will be announced to advance a sustainable economic partnership. In addition to the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum 2025, the high-level visit, led by the Saudi Investment Minister, Khalid Al-Falih, is expected to generate business deals and projects worth $4 billion (SAR 15 billion), according to Al-Ekhbariya. In the light of this, the visit will witness the inauguration of the Fayhaa White Cement Factory project in the Adra Industrial City in Damascus, reported Syria's state news agency SANA. This will expand cement production and support Syria's reconstruction. Supporting Syria's Reconstruction The visit aligns with Saudi Arabia's efforts to support Syria's economic recovery and development.
