Zomato's parent Eternal Q4 net profit falls 78% to ₹39 cr, revenue up 64%

Eternal (formerly known as Zomato) reported a net profit of ₹39 crore for the fourth quarter of FY25, down 77.7 per cent year-on-year from ₹175 crore in the same period a year ago. On a sequential basis, profit was also down 33.8 per cent from ₹59 crore in the preceding quarter (Q3FY25).
The company's revenue from operations rose 63.7 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to ₹5,833 crore in Q4, up from ₹3,562 crore a year ago. It had reported revenue of ₹5,405 crore in the previous quarter.
On the profitability front, consolidated adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) declined 15 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹165 crore in Q4FY25, largely on account of enhanced investments in expanding the company's quick commerce store network.
For the full year, the company reported consolidated operational revenue of ₹20,243 crore, up 67 per cent from ₹12,114 crore in FY24. PAT for the full year came in at ₹527 crore, up 50 per cent from last year's ₹351 crore.
Zomato: Food Delivery
Adjusted revenue for the company's food delivery segment grew 17 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹2,413 crore, up from ₹2,050 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. On a sequential basis, food delivery revenue was down 0.2 per cent. Food delivery, which continues to be the firm's largest revenue contributor, has been experiencing some sluggishness. The company said this was due to a weak demand environment, a shortage of delivery partners driven by high demand in the quick commerce segment, and competition from packaged food deliveries by quick commerce players.
The gross order value (GOV) decreased slightly from ₹9,913 crore in Q3FY25 to ₹9,778 crore in Q4FY25. However, GOV rose from ₹8,439 crore in Q4FY24 on a Y-o-Y basis.

The average monthly transacting customers increased slightly to 20.9 million, compared to 20.5 million in the previous quarter.
Talking about competition in food delivery, Deepinder Goyal, founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Eternal, said: 'Competition in food delivery has always been high, and the intensity of it hasn't changed in the last quarter. Our market share has been stable for the last few months and we are hoping we can drive some share gain going forward.'
Eternal also said it delisted nearly 19,000 restaurants in the fourth quarter. These were restaurants that either did not pass hygiene standards, were mimicking established brands and misleading customers, or were operating multiple identical menu listings.
The company mentioned shutting down its in-app instant food delivery services Zomato Quick and Zomato Everyday, adding that it does not see a path to profitability in these initiatives. 'The current restaurant density and kitchen infrastructure is not set up for delivering orders in 10 minutes, which leads to inconsistent customer experience. As a result, we did not see any incrementality in demand while we ran Quick as an experiment for a few months,' Goyal said.
For Everyday, Goyal said the need for homely meals is a limited use case, largely for office locations in metros. 'We did not see enough ROI by keeping it running at a small scale,' he added.
Blinkit
The quick commerce arm of Eternal reported Q4FY25 revenue of ₹1,709 crore, marking a 122.2 per cent increase from ₹769 crore in Q4FY24. The platform's GOV for the quarter rose to ₹9,421 crore from ₹7,798 crore a quarter ago. The average order value (AOV) came in at ₹665, down from ₹707 in the previous quarter.
The platform's average monthly transacting customers also increased to 13.7 million in Q4FY25, up from 10.6 million in Q3FY25.
Blinkit opened 294 net new stores in Q4FY25 — its highest-ever net store addition in a single quarter. According to the company, Blinkit is on track to reach 2,000 stores by December 2025. It currently has 1,301 stores.
Blinkit also added one million square feet of new warehousing space for store expansion.
On adjusted EBITDA losses increasing quarter-on-quarter from ₹103 crore to ₹178 crore, Albinder Dhindsa, founder and CEO of Blinkit, said: 'As mentioned in our last shareholders' letter, the increase in losses was expected and in line with our plan to pull forward expansion of our store network.'
Going Out
For Eternal's going-out business, revenue rose 146.2 per cent to ₹229 crore in Q4FY25, compared to ₹93 crore in the year-ago period. Meanwhile, GOV jumped to ₹2,184 crore in Q4FY25 from ₹1,069 crore in Q4FY24.
The company said the District app is scaling well, and one-third of going-out GOV now comes from the app.
Going forward, the company plans to focus on improving customer experience, expanding product categories, and enhancing its footprint.
Hyperpure
Hyperpure, Eternal's business-to-business supplies vertical, saw revenue rise 93.4 per cent Y-o-Y in Q4FY25. The vertical's revenue stood at ₹1,840 crore in Q4FY25, up from ₹951 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year.

Good if US trade pact sealed by Aug 1, but nation first: Goyal

Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said it would be good if India and the US can do a trade agreement before August 1 but New Delhi's priority is to protect its national and public interests. "Koi deadline ke hisab se Bharat negotiate nahi karta (India doesn't negotiate its trade agreements based on deadlines)," Goyal added at an event in Mumbai on the opportunities for exports in the UK market following the bilateral free trade agreement. He was responding to a question about the August 1 deadline when the US' reciprocal tariffs imposed on most countries, including India, are expected to come into force. The minister said the talks are going well with the US and India will do a good bilateral trade agreement (BTA) by October-November. American trade negotiators are slated to visit India in August for the next round of negotiations for the proposed BTA, the first tranche of which is aimed to be concluded by October. The fifth round of talks concluded in Washington last week. The countries aim to more than double bilateral trade to $500 billion. The two sides were working to finalise an interim trade deal before August 1. "Our discussions with the United States are progressing very well. I am fully confident that by the October-November 2025 timeline, we will secure a good agreement," Goyal said. This was his first outreach programme with industry after the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) was signed on July 24. Exporters from gems and jewellery and marine sectors, among others, participated in the event. "It is the most comprehensive free trade agreement India has ever entered with 30 chapters, including environment, gender, anti-corruption," Goyal said about CETA. "It has so many positives and new things that today the world wants to do business with India." He said India is in the process of finalising trade agreements with developed countries with whom it doesn't compete but complement. Whether it is New Zealand, Oman, the US, or the EU, India's agreements will be made with a "well-thought-out strategy" as the country negotiates from a position of strength and confidence, the minister said. He alleged that the previous UPA government had left Indian trade, farmers and fishermen to the mercy of a non-market economy by its move to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), a free trade agreement between Asean countries and China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

Investors remained cautious amid weak global cues, valuation concerns, and ongoing foreign institutional outflows. The session extended the recent corrective phase, with all benchmark indices finishing deep in the red. With Nifty breaking below the previous low and all key short-term averages, the outlook has turned bearish. The index now targets 24,500–24,450 on the downside, while any bounce toward 24,900–25,000 is likely to face selling pressure. Resistance is now established at 25,000–25,100, while support lies around 24,500–24,450. Investors remained cautious amid weak global cues, valuation concerns, and ongoing foreign institutional outflows. The session extended the recent corrective phase, with all benchmark indices finishing deep in the red. The Nifty 50 declined sharply by 225.10 points or 0.90%, closing at 24,837.00. The BSE Sensex also dropped by 721.08 points or 0.88%, ending at 81,463.09. The Bank Nifty mirrored the broader trend, falling by nearly 0.9% to settle around 56,566 after slipping below key support zones during intraday trade. Sector-wise, the losses were widespread, with oil & gas, metals, PSU banks, and auto sectors leading the fall. The energy and auto indices each lost over 2%, while metals and PSU banks were down by around 1.7%. Other sectors like IT, FMCG, private banks, and realty also closed lower, each shedding between 1% and 1.4%. The only pocket of resilience came from the pharma sector, which gained around 0.5%, supported by defensive buying amid heightened volatility. On the stock front, Cipla stood out as a top gainer, rallying nearly 3% after strong quarterly earnings and positive guidance. Dr. Reddy's, SBI Life Insurance, Apollo Hospitals, and Mphasis also saw notable gains, buoyed by buying interest in defensive and healthcare-related stocks. Conversely, Bajaj Finance led the list of laggards, falling by nearly 6% amid investor concerns over valuations and asset quality pressures, despite reporting solid earnings. Shriram Finance, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki also ended the day with losses in the range of 2.4% to 2.8%. Chennai Petroleum was among the worst performers, plunging nearly 9% in a sharp reversal. The broader market sentiment remained fragile, with midcap and smallcap indices also coming under pressure. The Nifty Midcap 100 declined by around 1.6%, while the Smallcap index fell by more than 2%, as profit booking intensified in high-beta names. The rotation away from cyclical and export-oriented stocks toward defensives continued, reflecting a cautious stance among investors. Overall, Friday's session reinforced the short-term corrective phase in the market. With benchmark indices breaking below key support levels, the outlook remains cautious. However, the positive performance in the pharma space suggests selective stock-specific opportunities may still exist even in a weak market environment. Nifty Technical Analysis From a technical standpoint, the index is now trading below both the 40-day EMA (25,041) and the 20-day SMA (25,259), reflecting a shift in the short-term trend toward weakness. On the hourly chart, Nifty is hovering near the 20-hour SMA (25,037) and 40-hour EMA (25,035), but with the price closing well below these levels, short-term momentum appears firmly negative. Momentum indicators have deteriorated considerably. The daily RSI has declined to 40.65, moving closer to the oversold territory, indicating weakening underlying strength. The hourly RSI stands at 27, clearly in the oversold zone, suggesting potential for minor intraday bounces, though the broader trend remains under pressure. The MACD readings have turned negative, with the daily MACD at –19 and the hourly MACD falling to –44, confirming a bearish crossover and signaling continued downside momentum. The broader chart pattern confirms the breakdown of the previous support level at 24,882, invalidating the earlier bullish setup and shifting the short-term structure to bearish. With the index failing to hold above key moving averages and lacking any reversal signal, the near-term downside target is seen around 24,500–24,450. In the derivatives space, the options data reflects a decisively bearish bias. Total Call open interest stands at 2.43 crore, significantly higher than the Put OI of 1.64 crore, with a net difference of –78.55 lakh, clearly indicating call writing dominance. Further, the change in OI reinforces this stance, with Call OI increasing by 38.95 lakh and Put OI decreasing by 6.79 lakh, leading to a net change of –45.74 lakh. This aggressive call buildup and put unwinding suggest a buildup of bearish sentiment. The Put-Call Ratio (PCR) has deteriorated and remains below 1, affirming the negative bias. Strike-wise, maximum Call OI and change are concentrated at 25,700, while aggressive additions are also visible at 26,500, pointing to elevated resistance levels. On the Put side, maximum OI is at 25,600, and the highest additions are at 25,620, but the reduction in overall Put OI reflects diminishing bullish conviction. India VIX remained relatively stable, but the breakdown in price without a corresponding spike in volatility may indicate complacency among participants, keeping the risk of sharp moves alive should selling intensify. With Nifty decisively breaking below the previous swing low and all key short-term averages, the outlook has turned decisively bearish. The index now targets 24,500–24,450 on the downside, while any bounce toward 24,900–25,000 is likely to face selling pressure. Resistance is now firmly established at 25,000–25,100, while support lies around 24,500–24,450. Momentum indicators and derivatives data confirm bearish control. Until the index reclaims 25,100–25,324 decisively, the short-term bias will remain negative. Traders are advised to maintain a bearish stance, use rallies to initiate fresh shorts, and keep tight stop-losses above 25,100 to protect against potential whipsaws.
