GENCO & TRANSCO get four directors
Vemulapalli Usha has been appointed as Director (HR & IR), APGENCO. With 40 years of experience in APSEB and APGENCO and an M.Com. degree, she plans to focus on employee skill development, grievance redressal, and aligning HR initiatives with the State's power sector vision.
P Ashok Kumar Reddy, a B.Tech. graduate from SV University, takes charge as Director (Thermal), APGENCO. With 36 years of experience, he aims to modernize thermal units, improve plant efficiency, and maintain environmental standards. He led the commissioning of an 800 MW unit at Dr. Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station and earned SAP ACE and SKOCH Awards.
M Sujaya Kumar, with a B.E. (EEE) and MBA (HR), has been appointed Director (Hydel), APGENCO. He plans to optimise hydel power operations and promote renewable energy projects, including 400 MW solar projects at Tadipatri.
J Venkateswara Rao, with 38 years of service and a B.Tech., is the new Director (Technical), APTRANSCO. He aims to implement advanced techniques like Live Line Maintenance to ensure uninterrupted power transmission. They expressed gratitude to CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and Chief Secretary K Vijayanand and pledged to work towards a robust and power sector.

26k flats in stalled Amrapali projects ready, 8k by Sept
Noida: Marred by delays over GRAP restrictions and fund crisis, National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) will complete the construction of 8,000 flats in the stalled projects of Amrapali Group by Sept 2025, six months after its initial deadline of March. Of the 37,000 stalled units that govt-run construction company was tasked to complete under Supreme Court-appointed court receiver, 26,800 flats have been constructed so far. The last of the stalled projects, Adarsh Awas Yojna, is expected to be ready by March 2026. Currently, work is underway in two phases of Verona Heights and Dream Valley Phase 2, and some other projects. Launched in 2010, Amrapali projects faced severe delays, prompting homebuyers to approach the National Consumer Forum and later the Supreme Court in 2017. Following an SC-ordered forensic audit submitted in March 2019, which revealed gross fund mismanagement, the court appointed a receiver and designated NBCC as the project management consultant in July 2019. Initially, NBCC struggled with funding but later secured Rs 650 crore from SBI CAP for six projects and a Rs 1,500 crore loan from a consortium of banks. It also collected Rs 2,200 crore from homebuyers and recovered around Rs 2,000 crore by selling Amrapali promoters' assets to keep the construction moving. NBCC has also infused over Rs 650 crore from its own funds.

Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju appointed Governor of Goa
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday (July 14, 2025) appointed former Union Civil Aviation Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the Governor for Goa, according to a press release from the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju is the younger son of the last Maharaja of Vizianagaram, Maharaja Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju. He has held several offices in the past, including being an MLA in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, holding Cabinet posts in Andhra Pradesh as Minister for Excise, Commercial Taxes, Finance, Revenue and Legislative Affairs, and and MP in the Lok Sabha. Mr. Raju will replace P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, who assumed office in July 2021 Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday (July 14, 2025) welcomed his appointment, saying that the government will work closely with him for the state's development. 'A seasoned statesman with vast administrative and parliamentary experience, his guidance will be invaluable as we continue our journey towards Viksit Goa 2037,' CM Sawant said in a post on X. 'We look forward to working closely with Hon'ble Governor Raju Ji to further the development and welfare of every Goan,' he added. TRANSCO to invest Rs 12k crore to meet growing power demand
Top APTRANSCO officials, including JMD Kirthi Chekuri, Director Grid AKV Bhaskar, Director Technical J Venkateswara Rao, and Director Finance NV Ramana Murthy attended the meeting. Vijayanand stressed adherence to timelines, especially in industrial corridors and urban clusters. He called for daily field-level monitoring, weekly progress reviews, and coordination with district authorities to speed up execution. He placed special emphasis on projects in the APCRDA region and insisted on third-party quality checks and audits to maintain safety and construction standards. Among the recently commissioned projects are a Bus Reactor for Reactive Power Management and a 220kV double circuit line between Gunadala and Nunna substations, using monopoles to boost system reliability. Ongoing efforts include ICT capacity expansion, construction of new substations, and line diversions in the capital region. Tenders have also been floated for 31 new projects worth Rs 3,614 crore. Vijayanand reaffirmed the commitment of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar to building a future-ready transmission network. CE Projects T Sudeevan Kumar and SEs P Ramachandra Prasad and K Bindu were present.
