‘Sky's the limit' for Tiafoe at French Open

Frances Tiafoe believes the 'sky's the limit' for him after reaching the French Open quarter-finals for the first time on Sunday.
The American downed German world number 66 Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) in the last 16 to set up a match with Lorenzo Musetti for a semi-final place.
It will be Tiafoe's first ATP quarter-final since finishing runner-up at a low-key event in Houston in March.
'It's been horrible. I've been travelling around, and it hasn't been fun at all,' he said.
'Kind of faced it. After that it gave me space to just play. You know, when I can play, I can play. This is not really something that's like a shock.
'When I'm playing well, I'm there and present and having fun, I think the sky's the limit for me.'
The 27-year-old, who has reached at least the quarters at the last three US Opens, is yet to drop a set in Paris and is confident he can go even further.
'I've been the super dark horse. I don't think anyone is really thinking that I was going to even be in this position,' added Tiafoe.
'But at the same time, I don't really look at it like house money.
'Now that I'm here, I'm like, 'Let 's win'. I was having dinner yesterday. I'm like, ' Yeah, feeling great, butlet's keep winning ' .
There 's no thing more fun than winning. 'Once I get my feet going and matches under me, I'm dangerous. Then I'm feeling really good, and I'll play anybody.'

Stokes praises England's attitude after India triumph
AFP | Leeds England captain Ben Stokes praised his side's approach after they pulled off a remarkable five-wicket win over India in the first Test at Headingley on Tuesday. Ben Duckett's superb 149 paved the way for England's ultimately comfortable pursuit of 371 on the last day as Stokes' men once more made light of a seemingly stiff chase with the dynamic batting that has been a hallmark of their play in the 'Bazball' era of coach Brendon McCullum. England twice conceded totals in excess of 350 in the first of this five-match series but managed to inflict late-order collapses of 7-41 and 6-31 that proved costly for India. 'There's been a lot of skill that has contributed to us winning this Test match but our attitude as well,' said Stokes. 'Every session we turned up with the attitude that we could blow this match apart. This was England's second-highest fourth-innings runchase, just behind the 378-3 they managed also against India at Edgbaston not long after Stokes and McCullum joined forces as captain and coach. 'I think we're just a very simple-minded pair, me and Baz (McCullum), when it comes to cricket,' Stokes said. 'Everyone knows what cricket is about, it's about scoring more runs than the opposition. When you strip it all back, that's it... When you're chasing totals like that, how you are in the dressing room is very important.' 'Nightmare for the opposition' Duckett had one moment of good fortune when he was dropped on 97 on Tuesday but the 30-year-old Nottinghamshire opener was otherwise in commanding form. But all-rounder Stokes added: 'It's a good job Test cricket is played over five days. You make a decision and you don't know what is going to happen.' India coach Gautam Gambhir said the tourists would still stand by their plan to play Bumrah -- who, remarkably, went wicketless in the second innings at Headingley -- in just three of the five Tests to preserve his fitness following a back injury. 'We won't change the plans,' Gambhir said after India's attack rarely threatened on the final day in Leeds. 'To manage his workload is more important. Before he came on this tour, it was already decided he would play three Tests but let's see how his body turns out.' There is now a break of more than a week until the second Test in Birmingham starts on July 2, with former India batsman Gambhir adding: 'We haven't decided which two other Test matches he's going to play. Chelsea through to Club World Cup knockouts, Benfica beat Bayern
AFP | Philadelphia Chelsea beat Esperance of Tunisia 3-0 on Tuesday to set up a Club World Cup last-16 tie against Benfica, who defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 earlier in searing heat. Elsewhere minnows Auckland City claimed a memorable draw against Boca Juniors while Los Angeles FC bowed out of the tournament with a stalemate against Flamengo. In Charlotte , Andreas Schjelderup scored the only goal for Benfica in their Group C clash with Bayern in front of 33,287 fans, finishing first-time from a cutback by his fellow Norwegian Fredrik Aursnes in the 13th minute. The German champions, who left the likes of Harry Kane and Michael Olise on the bench at kick-off, were unable to come back in sweltering afternoon conditions in heatwave-hit North Carolina. Kane and Olise came on at half-time and Bayern did then look more dangerous, but Leroy Sane was denied when clean through by Benfica's Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. 'I think this was a very fair and important win, historic really,' said Benfica coach Bruno Lage. 'We were as straightforward and assertive as we should be and I think we were very effective in delivering our strategy today.' Bayern finished second and so will go to Miami on Sunday to take on Brazilian giants Flamengo, with a potential quarter-final against European champions Paris Saint-Germain awaiting. 'You could see that it was really tough conditions so respect to both teams for that,' said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. 'Our first half was not good enough for sure, the second half was definitely more the level that we expected and good enough to score one or two or three goals.'
