LITU scholar Neha Thakare gets first prize in SOMS-2025

Nagpur: Neha Thakare a PhD scholar of chemical engineering department of Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU), won first prize at national-level competition held during SOMS-2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The July 3-5 event was jointly organised by Soluble Fertilizer Industry Association (SFIA) and the ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes (ICAR-NRC Grapes), Pune.
Neha worked under the guidance of Dr Bharat Bhanvase. She was the only scholar shortlisted from the Maharashtra and presented her innovative research on 'Advanced oxidation process for ammonia recovery from wastewater and reuse as a soluble fertilizer."
Her work introduces a pioneering approach using hydrodynamic cavitation and advanced oxidation to convert wastewater pollutants into valuable agricultural inputs — an innovation praised for its environmental significance and industrial relevance.
LITU vice-chancellor Dr Atul Vaidya congratulated Neha and Dr Bhanvase, stating, "The outstanding achievement is a proud moment for LITU. Neha's research not only reflects our academic excellence but also contributes meaningfully to the national dialogue on sustainable agriculture and wastewater valorisation."

These efforts are driving the growth of the digital economy and technological innovation, injecting new momentum into regional development, Liu added. Themed "New Bonds in the Digital Economy, New Horizons for Cooperation," the forum featured an opening ceremony, a main forum, four thematic sub-forums and related activities. Co-organized by the NDA and the Tianjin municipal government, the forum drew over 1,500 guests from governments, enterprises, universities and think tanks of SCO member states. They discussed topics such as industrial development empowered by digital integration, digital talent cultivation, data governance and digital infrastructure construction.

Kanpur: The District-Level Kharif Productivity Conference-2025 was held at Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology on Thursday. BJP MLA Neelima Katiyar inaugurated the eventand addressed the farmers, emphasising the need to use modern and scientific techniques to tackle the challenges posed by changing weather conditions. She stated that farming today cannot rely solely on traditional methods; it is essential to adopt technological innovations that align with the changing climate to prevent any negative impact on crop yields and enhance productivity. Katiyar highlighted the unique global identity of Indian agriculture and farmers, urging the adoption of the latest research and technologies to advance farming, empowering farmers to compete globally and continuously increase their income. DM Jitendra Pratap Singh, in his address, said reducing farmers' costs while increasing their productivity is a priority for the state govt. He emphasised the need for concrete efforts to enable farmers to achieve maximum production at minimal cost, ensuring a steady rise in their income. CDO Deeksha Jain emphasised the need for environmentally friendly agriculture that aids in doubling farmers' income. For this, we must work according to scientific methods using modern technologies.
