Window Frame Of Goa-Pune SpiceJet Flight Dislodges Mid-Air, Airline Says...
A window frame of Spice Jet's aircraft operating its flight to Pune from Goa was found dislodged mid-air but there was no impact on passengers' safety, the airline said on Wednesday.
The frame was fixed once the aircraft landed at the next (Pune) airport, in accordance with standard maintenance procedures, the airline said in a statement.
SpiceJet, however, did not share other details.
"A cosmetic (interior) window frame on one of the Q400 Aircraft became loose during flight and was found dislodged," the airline said in a statement.
SpiceJet also said that cabin pressurisation remained normal throughout the flight, and there was no impact on passenger safety, adding that the dislodged part was a non-structural trim component, fitted onto the window for the purpose of shade, and did not compromise the safety or integrity of the aircraft in any way.
The Q400 aircraft is equipped with multiple layers of window panes, including a robust, pressure-bearing outer pane, ensuring that passenger safety is never at risk, even in the unlikely event of a superficial or cosmetic component coming loose," SpiceJet added.
Questioning the airworthiness of the aircraft, a passenger posted a video of the dislodged window on social media platform X.
"#SpiceJet from Goa to Pune today. The whole interior window assembly just fell off mid flight. And this flight is now supposed to take off and head to Jaipur. Wonder if it's air worthy.." the passenger stated, while tagging the aviation safety regulator DGCA in the post.

A SpiceJet spokesperson told TOI, "The claim that passengers were informed about the revised departure time only after reaching the airport is factually incorrect. SpiceJet to induct five Boeing 737 aircraft
NEW DELHI: SpiceJet has finalised a lease agreement to induct five Boeing 737 aircraft into its fleet by October 2025. This is scheduled ahead of the commencement of the winter schedule and will cater to the peak winter season as well as the early summer season of 2026 'The aircraft are being inducted on a damp lease basis, where operational crew will be shared between the operator and SpiceJet,' said an official release. SpiceJet is also in advanced discussions with other lessors to further enhance its fleet and strengthen both domestic and international operations. This fleet addition is part of the airline's broader strategy to bolster capacity ahead of the winter schedule and cater to increased travel demand during the peak and early summer seasons, the release added. Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer, SpiceJet, said, 'We are pleased to finalise this lease agreement for the induction of five Boeing 737 aircraft. This addition will significantly strengthen our fleet and enable us to deliver a superior flying experience to our passengers. Surat airport taxiway clears final hurdle as Yakshini tree transplanted
S Tired of too many ads? go ad free now urat: Surat airport authorities have finally removed and transplanted a tree that was obstructing the newly constructed parallel taxiway, enabling its operationalisation. The 10-foot tree, believed to be the sacred abode of a Yakshini (a female nature spirit), was shifted within the airport premises rather than being cut down due to religious beliefs. The 2,905-metre taxiway, built at a cost of Rs 63 crore, has been ready since March 31. However, operations were delayed as the tree stood near the 'Lalbai Mata' temple and held religious significance for local villagers. "The tree was considered auspicious as it was beside the temple. We also shifted the temple structure with it. The idol had already been moved to the new location two years ago. Now that the tree is relocated, the DGCA will soon inspect the taxiway. Once approved, flight operations will become more efficient," a senior airport official said. Officials waited for the monsoon to begin so that the tree could adapt better to its new location using natural rainwater. It has now been replanted near the airport fire station, close to gate number 3 in the operational area. Airport and fire personnel stationed nearby will care for the tree. The matter of removing the tree was also raised earlier during an Airport Advisory Committee meeting chaired by Union minister CR Patil.
