BIBF Unveils E-Learning Platform for Anti-Money Laundering Training
According to Bahrain News Agency, the platform is structured into three key modules, offering a comprehensive understanding of financial crime compliance. It covers the stages of financial crime and how to spot red flags, practical strategies for risk management and mitigation, and an in-depth look at Bahrain's regulatory requirements alongside global best practices, ensuring participants gain the skills needed to stay compliant and protect their organisations.
Bassam Kazerooni, Acting Head of Banking and Finance Centre at the BIBF, highlighted that the e-learning platform is a significant step forward in supporting both conventional and Islamic banks in Bahrain. It provides professionals with the practical knowledge they need to remain compliant and stay ahead of the growing challenges in financial crime. The flexible, self-paced approach makes it easier for organisations to maintain consistent training standards while meeting evolving regulatory expectations.

SR200,000 Fine For Saudi And Egyptian In Cover-Up Case
The Dammam Criminal Court ruled penalties, including a fine amounting to SR200,000, to a Saudi citizen and an Egyptian resident after their conviction in cover-up (tasattur) case. The convicts were found guilty in their cover-up in water desalination business in the Qatif governorate in the Eastern Province. The punitive measures, ruled by the court, include cancellation of the commercial registration and license, liquidation of the establishment's activities, collection of zakat, fees, and taxes, prohibition from engaging in the concerned commercial activity and deportation of the Egyptian national and a ban to his return to Saudi Arabia. Following the court verdict, the Ministry of Commerce published the convicts name in the local media at their own expense. The court found the citizen's involvement in concealing the Egyptian's illegal cover-up activity. The citizen received 40 percent of the profits from the water distribution tankers, thus enabling the resident to carry out business on his own account without obtaining a foreign investment license. It is worthy to note that the Anti-Cover-Up Law stipulates penalties of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to SR5 million, and the seizure and confiscation of illicit funds, following the issuance of final court rulings against those involved in such illegal commercial activities.

Crown Prince's Scholarship Program Begins Skill-Building Courses at BIBF
The Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program (CPISP) has launched its training program for candidates of the 2026 scholarship cycle. The program includes a series of specialized courses and activities aimed at developing the skills of shortlisted students as part of the selection process for the annual scholarship awards. The training is taking place at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) headquarters. The program's Executive Director, Ms. Eva Jarabet, welcomed the shortlisted students and congratulated them on their academic excellence and for reaching this stage in the selection process. She highlighted the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to invest in the nation's youth by enhancing and refining their capabilities through various educational and professional training programs. The CPISP, in collaboration with BIBF, held an introductory session for the shortlisted students from both public and private schools to brief them on the details of the training courses that will take place over the summer and into the next academic year. Ms. Eva explained that the training program includes a variety of intensive courses and activities, such as a critical thinking course, an academic writing course, and a leadership development program. The leadership component will grant participants an internationally recognized certificate from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI Level 3 Certificate in Team Leading). The program will also include a personality assessment to help students explore suitable career paths. In addition, preparatory courses for the IELTS and SAT exams will be provided. She added that the training program aims to develop students' personal skills in leadership and communication, as well as academic skills in analysis, critical thinking, essay writing, and research. The selection of the final scholarship recipients will take place at the beginning of the new year, based on their cumulative GPA, IELTS and SAT scores, and performance in the critical thinking and leadership training courses.
