
KUNA launches youth training camp to foster future tech talents
Director General of SAGCGC Nada Al-Daihani praised the collaboration, describing KUNA as a pioneering national media institution whose role extends beyond news dissemination to include meaningful contributions to social responsibility. 'This camp supports our shared goal of nurturing creativity and developing technological excellence among children, preparing them to lead in a knowledge-based economy,' Al-Daihani said.

She emphasized that the camp was designed in the spirit of specialized science clubs, tailored for children aged seven and above, and covers key disciplines such as programming, robotics, electronics, and technical design. Al-Daihani also highlighted the importance of expanding such partnerships with public and private sector institutions to build a generation ready to drive Kuwait's digital and industrial transformation.
For her part, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at KUNA Lamya Al-Farsi affirmed that the camp reflects KUNA's dedication to investing in human capital. 'This initiative stems from our firm belief in fostering future talent and supporting the children of our employees by developing their skills in technology and innovation,' she said. Al-Farsi added that the training camp is aligned with KUNA's broader vision of nurturing a generation equipped with the tools of the future in digital media and technology.
'We are proud of this strategic partnership with the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center, and we are confident that it will contribute to discovering and refining the talents of our youth and unleashing their creative potential,' she said.
The Cubeoid program includes modules on robotics, allowing children to interact with programmable devices and gain foundational knowledge in coding. The electronic circuits module introduces participants to components and assembly methods through practical projects reflecting real-life scenarios, while the robotics programming course teaches basic commands to operate robots, fostering hands-on learning in a simplified and engaging way.- KUNA

Now, Saudi Arabia Will Allow Expats To Own Properties
RIYADH, July 11: In a landmark policy shift aimed at boosting foreign investment, Saudi Arabia will permit non-Saudis to own real estate in designated areas across the Kingdom beginning January 2026. The move comes under a newly approved property ownership law, marking a significant milestone in the country's broader strategy to diversify its economy and strengthen the real estate sector. The decision was endorsed by the Saudi Cabinet and announced by Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing and Chairman of the Real Estate General Authority, who described the legislation as a cornerstone of the Kingdom's ongoing real estate reform program. Under the new framework, foreign nationals will be permitted to purchase property in specific zones, primarily in Riyadh and Jeddah, while ownership in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina will be subject to stringent regulatory conditions and additional oversight. 'The updated law is designed to expand the real estate supply, attract international investors and developers, and stimulate foreign direct investment in the Saudi market,' Al-Hogail said, adding that the legislation includes procedural safeguards to protect national interests and ensure the integrity of the housing sector. The Real Estate General Authority will play a central role in implementing the law. It will define the geographical zones open to foreign buyers and draft the accompanying executive regulations. These regulations will be made available for public consultation via the 'Istitlaa' platform within 180 days of the law's publication in the official gazette. The guidelines will detail eligibility requirements, application procedures, and compliance mechanisms, ensuring a balanced approach to economic liberalization and social responsibility. The law complements existing frameworks such as the Premium Residency Law and property ownership rights extended to GCC citizens, further reinforcing Saudi Arabia's commitment to regulatory modernization under the Vision 2030 transformation plan. By opening its property market to global investors, the Kingdom seeks to position itself as a competitive real estate destination while addressing domestic housing demand and fueling long-term economic growth.

Kuwait reports notable progress on housing projects in key areas
KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Housing Welfare announced significant progress in various housing care projects during June, with key sectors showing steady advancements in construction and services delivered to citizens. Omar Al-Ruwaih, Deputy General Manager for Public Relations and Development and the Authority's spokesperson, said the 'South Saad Al-Abdullah' project saw remarkable progress in its main road contracts, achieving 39.05 percent completion by the end of June — surpassing the contractual target by 22.63 percent. He added that three contracts related to infrastructure work covering approximately 23,551 plots are still in the preparatory phase, with monitoring ongoing to start implementation soon. Regarding the Affordable Housing project, two contracts have moved into actual construction, targeting the building of 3,345 homes. The first contract reached 8.51 percent completion, while the second reached 5.54 percent. Meanwhile, four other contracts, covering 6,455 homes, remain in preparatory stages. Al-Ruwaih also highlighted steady progress in the 'South Sabah Al-Ahmad' project, where four contracts are under way. The main road contract achieved 54.37 percent completion by June. The first infrastructure contract, involving 7,623 plots, reached 10.69 percent, the second contract covering 6,189 plots hit 19.22 percent, and the third contract related to 6,568 plots reached 6.69 percent. In addition, the authority is closely following up on the construction of 217 public buildings across six housing projects, including 92 buildings in Al-Mutlaa city, 74 in the Affordable Housing project, and 31 in South Abdullah Al-Mubarak, along with one building each in Saad Al-Abdullah, Jaber Al-Ahmad and South Khaitan. By the end of June, 32,341 'For Whom It May Concern' certificates, necessary for building permits, were issued to citizens — an increase of 38 certificates compared to May 2025. During June, the Authority signed six new contracts. These included two contracts to complete public service buildings in Al-Mutlaa's neighborhoods N5, N8, N11, and N12, a contract for building the second phase of the Youth Center in Saad Al-Abdullah city, and a contract for surface asphalt works in Al-Mutlaa city. Consultancy contracts were also signed to supervise and manage infrastructure and public building projects in Al-Mutlaa's neighborhoods N4 and N2. Al-Ruwaih stressed that the authority continues to develop and digitize its services in line with the Cabinet's directives, with 30 services now fully available through the 'Sahel' app. — KUNA
