Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 2 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has stated that medical tourism will be included as one of the priority sectors in the 'TelanganaRising 2047' document, which the State Government is preparing, as stated in the release.
According to the release, Hyderabad has already become a centre of excellence in medical care, and patients from various countries visit the city for medical treatment. The Chief Minister stated that the 'Telangana Rising' document will focus more on developing the historical city of Hyderabad as a hub for medical and health tourism in the country.
Stating that the government is moving forward with plans to provide free medical care and quality education to the poor, CM Revanth Reddy said the government has already earmarked Rs 11,500 crore funds for the development of the medical sector and Rs 21,500 crore for education in the current financial year. Doctor Nori Dattatreya has also been appointed as a cancer care consultant to the government.
The CM emphasised that the government hospitals should compete with private corporate hospitals, and the doctors should serve in government hospitals for at least one month as a social responsibility.
The Chief Minister said that the State government is already providing free medical treatment to the poor up to Rs 10 lakhs, and there is a need to take more precautions to prevent health problems. For this, the government is planning to create a health profile card for women in self-help groups. The health profile cards will have a unique ID.
Appealing to AIG Hospital Chairman Dr Nageshwar Reddy to join as a partner with the government in the endeavour to strengthen the medical and health sectors, CM Revanth Reddy said that it is a matter of pride that patients from 66 countries are coming for treatment at AIG Hospital.
'Dr Nageshwar Reddy has brought laurels to Hyderabad and Telangana, and he deserves India's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna,' said the Telangana CM.
The CM said he will pursue the centre to recognise the noted doctor's services and present the prestigious award to him. The visit of Miss World contestants to the renowned hospital showcased the advancements in medical care in Telangana on a global scale.
Listing out initiatives taken by the government to strengthen medical care, the Chief Minister said that the family doctor system once existed, but specialist doctor services are now in high demand.
Government hospitals are already under construction in different parts of the State and the works for the new Osmania hospital are under progress. A total of 7000 additional beds will be available after the completion of all new hospital building works, the CM said.
Since Hyderabad has become a hub of IT and emerging healthcare services provider in the world, the Chief Minister said that government is holding talks with the union government to increase direct flight connectivity between Middle East countries and Hyderabad. More air connectivity will help Hyderabad to develop further. (ANI)

Kottayam: State human rights commission (SHRC) on Friday registered a case suo motu in the incident where a patient's mother was killed after a dilapidated building at Kottayam Medical College collapsed. The commission's judicial member K Byjunath directed Kottayam district collector and district medical officer conduct detailed investigations into the circumstances that led to the accident and submit a report within 15 days. SHRC's action is based on media reports. The case will be considered at a sitting to be held at Kottayam PWD rest house on July 26. Bindu cremated The mortal remains of D Bindu, 52, who was killed in the building collapse at Kottayam medical college hospital, were cremated at Ummakunnu in Thalayolaprambu in the district on Friday. As the body was brought home, Bindu's elderly mother Seethalakshmi broke down, saying the pillar of the family was gone. Bindu was the family's main financial support. Her son Navaneet and daughter Navami were inconsolable and remained near their mother's body as hundreds of people paid homage. Bindu had gone to the medical college hospital as Navami's bystander for her spine surgery. Bindu's remains were brought to her half-constructed house, with very little space to accommodate the huge gathering, around 8.30am. The body was kept for public viewing in a temporary shed near the funeral pyre, which was arranged in the adjacent property, owned by Bindu's sister. After completing the final rites, Navaneet lit the pyre. Though no ministers reached the house for the funeral or earlier in the day, health minister Veena George spoke with Bindu's husband over the phone. Port minister V N Vasavan arrived at the house in the evening. Speaking to the media, Vasavan assured all support saying govt would stand by Bindu's family. "Govt will take care of Navami's treatment. She will be admitted to the MCH soon," he said. " Navaneet will be given a temporary job at the MCH and it will be decided by the hospital development committee. Later, a decision will be taken to make the posting permanent," he added. Vasavan handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to the family towards funeral expenses. More financial aid will be decided in the next cabinet, he said. Meanwhile, the primary findings of Bindu's autopsy said the cause of death was the critical head injury, which led to internal bleeding. The skull cracked and the internal parts fell out. The ribs were also found broken. Several internal organs suffered serious injuries.

Congress insulting scientists who developed indigenous COVID vaccines: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 4 (ANI): Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday accused the Congress party of 'insulting India's scientific achievements' by questioning the efficacy of indigenous COVID-19 vaccines, demanding an apology from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Joshi condemned Congress leaders for 'baselessly doubting the vaccines that saved crores of lives.' 'They oppose Modi politically but are now undermining the very scientists who protected India and the world during the pandemic,' Joshi said. 'This is an insult to our nation's achievements,' he added. Joshi challenged Siddaramaiah to clarify whether the state government links COVID-19 vaccines to recent heart attack cases. 'The CM must apologise to scientists and the public for this irresponsible narrative,' he said. Highlighting India's vaccine milestones, he noted: 'Congress ruled for 60 years but didn't develop a single indigenous vaccine. Under Modi, we produced 240 crore doses, vaccinated 120 crore Indians, and supplied vaccines to 150 countries.' Joshi also targeted the Siddaramaiah-led government over infighting, citing MLAs who allegedly exposed 'corruption and zero development.' 'An anti-Congress wave is brewing within their party,' he said, referencing MLAs B.R. Patil and Basavaraj Rayareddy's corruption allegations. Responding to Karnataka's demand for central aid, Joshi stated: 'We'll fund development, not corruption. Let them submit a proper plan.' (ANI)
