Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester departure confirmed
Van Nistelrooy was appointed at the King Power Stadium in November but was unable to steer the club away from danger, with a return to the Championship confirmed with five games of the season to play.
The Dutchman called for clarity on his future following their relegation at the beginning of May, but has had to wait with the club finally confirming his exit on Friday morning.
Leicester City Football Club and Ruud van Nistelrooy have mutually agreed that Ruud's contract with the Club as First Team Manager will terminate with immediate effect.

The delay is understood to have hinged around the start of a new accounting period, which begins on Monday.
With players due back in for pre-season training on June 30, the recruitment process for Van Nistelrooy's replacement is well under way.
A statement read: 'Leicester City Football Club and Ruud van Nistelrooy have mutually agreed that Ruud's contract with the club as first team manager will terminate with immediate effect.
'Ruud has overseen a challenging period for the club. From his appointment in November 2024, he approached the role with professionalism, integrity and a clear commitment to our aims, including through the integration of several promising players from the club's academy into our first team environment.
'Ruud moves on with the respect and thanks of everyone at the football club for his dedication and hard work, and with our very best wishes for the future.
'Preparation for the EFL Championship season will continue with the planned start of pre-season on Monday, June 30.

'First team coaching staff will oversee the delivery of those plans until a new manager is appointed.
'There will be no further comment until this process has been completed.'
Van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper on November 29 and won four points in his opening two games.
But that was as good as it got, as a run of 15 defeats from their next 16 matches sealed their fate.
Within that run, they lost nine successive home games without scoring – a new top-flight record.
Once relegation was confirmed, the Foxes improved, taking seven points from their final five outings to finish 22nd, 13 points from safety.

Van Nistelrooy called for talks with the club's hierarchy as soon as relegation was confirmed, but was left hanging for a number of weeks.
The Dutchman said: 'I would like to personally thank the Leicester City players, coaches, academy and all the staff I have worked with for their professionalism and dedication during my time at the club and to thank the fans for their support, and take this opportunity to wish the club well for the future.'
The Foxes face the prospect of having to deal with a significant points deduction in the Championship, having been charged by the Premier League for breaking Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Leicester begin their season with the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on August 10.

Ruby Mace hails Leicester support after Lionesses' debut ahead of Women's Euros
Ruby Mace may be missing out on the Women's Euros in Switzerland this year, but her love for football has returned after joining Leicester City Ruby Mace may be missing out on her first senior international tournament - but she has now found true happiness in her football. The midfielder has played for some of the biggest clubs in England, including Arsenal and Manchester City, but says she has truly found her home with Leicester City in recent times. Mace started her career in Arsenal's youth programme but soon moved on, signing her first professional contract with Manchester City in 2021 at the age of 17. However, despite receiving high praise in her early years with both WSL clubs, the 21-year-old admits that she never found true happiness until she joined the Foxes. The versatile footballer said: 'Going from Manchester City on loan to Leicester, I found so much happiness, and then going back to Man City for one year, I didn't find that same happiness. I found myself in a really dark place. 'I had to think a lot about what I wanted with my career, and ultimately it was to play every week and to be happy at the end of the day. 'I think going to Leicester has made me so happy, I'm able to play and I'm making sure that I'm working hard in everything that I'm doing.' It was during her initial loan to Leicester that Mace really solidified a starting position, making 10 appearances and impressing so much that she signed a two-year deal to remain there and leave City. Mace received her first senior call-up to the England squad last year, becoming the first Leicester City women's player to receive such an honour. Speaking as part of her partnership with Laser Clinics UK, Mace said: 'I just really enjoyed the moment [being called up] and I think when my team found out that I was the first one, I think everyone was so happy for me, you could just see how proud they were and the people closest to me were as well.' Mace impressed in her debut for the Lionesses, shining in the midfield during a 1-0 win over Switzerland in a friendly match in December 2024. After making the move to the senior squad, the midfielder highlighted some of her former City team-mates for helping make the transition from youth to senior as smooth as possible. Mace added: 'I think for me, knowing Chloe Kelly and Alex Greenwood from Manchester City. They really helped me. 'I think the U23s camp really helped as well because they kind of prepped you for the pathway and let you know what's expected of you before you go. Even though both of the camps are completely different, it's like you know what to expect when you go there. 'I think the girls are nice, everyone gets along with everyone and coming into that environment is, of course, daunting, but you get made to feel at ease and you're there for a reason. I think that's the most important thing.' However, her budding start to life with Leicester and England has been temporarily interrupted, as a knee injury sustained in March this year leaves her sidelined for the time being. Despite receiving high praise for her performances this year, Mace confessed that the setback of her knee issue has affected her mentally. However, she is hopeful that with the right time, she will be back fighting for a place for both club and country. She said: 'It's really nice to hear these things, but we know how quickly it can be taken away from you. For me, I'm injured now and missing out on all these things, and it's hard. But at the end of the day, you have to look after your body and take the time that you need and ultimately be happy and fall back in love with the game. 'Because for me, it's been hard being injured and I've been playing the whole season and found that little bit of happiness, and it has been hard [to step away]. But to hear things like that, it makes you think, 'Okay, people do notice and appreciate how you play.' 'It's just making sure that we know how quickly it can be taken away from you, and I think that's very important when you're in the moment to live every moment with no regrets.' Mace is also strong in the face of other adversities. She confesses that sometimes criticism can get to her, but is working hard on being 'selfish' about what she gives her attention to. The England international said: 'I think altogether there are comments that you read that do get to you, I think we're only human at the end of the day, and I think certain amounts of comments can hurt people. 'But the way that I deal with it is to just try and ignore it and just know that everyone's going to have an opinion; people that are close to you will have opinions, and people that are far from you will have them too. 'So it's just about you and yourself. You have to be selfish in these moments, be happy, and, like I said, have no regrets about what you do. Let people say whatever they want to say to you; don't let it affect you too much.' Despite hitting 'a few bumps in the road' with her injury, Mace is recovering well and is excited to back the Lionesses over the summer before returning to the King Power Stadium for the 2025/26 season. Pre-match routines with Aggie Beever-Jones and Ruby Mace What is your pre-match routine? Ruby Mace: 'I have quite a set routine. It's not like superstition or anything, but I like to stick to the things that I like to do. First of all, I moisturise. I like to make sure that my face is hydrated, but also from having the Hydrofacials that Laser Clinics offers, that helps my skin, so that's kind of like a job already ticked off. 'I have to make sure I'm moisturised, then in terms of my hair routine, I have to make sure that I have lots of hairspray so that my hair is out of my face when I'm playing and also make sure I smell nice too.' 'I think the lasers, as well, are really useful in terms of it just takes hair away fast without having to shave your legs. It's just a lot easier. Ruby Mace: 'I'm really into inspirational quotes and stuff. I feel like that really inspires me to go and do my best and be prepared. I also think that good music can pump me up for a game, but music with good lyrics as well that I can relate to. 'Just the confidence to know that when people are taking pictures on the side of the pitch, that you feel good in your skin.' Aggie Beever-Jones: 'I think I'm quite similar to Ruby again, but for me, it's the superstitions that help me keep calm, and if I do them, then I can keep a good routine. I would also say music is such a big thing for me. We are similar in that sense in having good music pumping before a game to keep me levelheaded. 'Again, talking to my family as well, knowing that they're going to be there in the stands for me, it just keeps me relaxed, and that's definitely a big part for me. 'Also, with the skincare and haircare, I always say to the girls in the changing rooms; look good, feel good, play good.'
