7 Fruity Nail Ideas (With A K-Beauty Twist) To Brighten Your Day

Refinery2914 hours ago
If you're feeling a bit gloomy in the depths of Australian winter, why not look for inspiration from overseas to brighten your day? In Seoul, summer is in full swing, and there's a trend sweeping the city that could help boost your mood.
Just ahead of my next nail appointment, I've been looking to my fellow subway commuters and their freshly painted tips for some inspiration, which is how I noticed that fruit motifs are everywhere. Think crisp watermelon slices, sparkly strawberries, and 3D peaches that almost look good enough to eat. Whether you're into whimsical designs or crave a more minimal take on the trend, there's a juicy fruit nail set for everyone. Peruse the seven examples below and get ready for your most delicious manicure yet.
Apple Peel Nails

For a twist on the classic red mani, we love this crimson gradient with slices of golden yellow. The understated effect mimics the texture of an apple peel, without being too fruit-forward.

With its candy-coated colours, cartoonishly rotund shapes, and glossy, syrupy glaze, this three-dimensional take on fruity nails feels perfect, especially when paired with crisp white linen.
Sparkly Strawberries

If you want to highlight your favourite fruit, may we suggest this dazzling strawberry set? Painted over a neutral base and topped with metallic green stars, these are as sweet as it gets.
Mix & Match Fruit

If 3D glitter strawberries aren't your jam (pun intended), try a slightly less flashy — but no less fun — take with a daintier 3D fruit for a party on your nails. If you want to level up, mix and match your tips to include some solid colours and softer gradients among your fruit accent nails.
Fruit Marbling

Figs, grapes, peaches, and plums: There's so much beauty right on the surface of these fruits, which is captured brilliantly in these artistic designs. Through a masterful combination of marbling techniques and meticulous speckling, these subtle nuances make for a truly unique mani moment.
Grape Expectations

Another fruity option that may appeal to mani minimalists is this reflective, wine-colored set, which shines in more ways than one.
Speckled Watermelons

Watermelons offer a refreshing break from traditional winter muted manicures. In a sea of standard watermelon slices and rind-striped designs, this abstract rendering offers a refreshing alternative.

It's Time for Browns Rookie Shedeur Sanders to Show Us Who He Really Is

Few people share as much about their lives as Shedeur Sanders does. And even fewer remain as indecipherable as Sanders while living so publicly. I don't just want to understand who Shedeur Sanders is now. I want to know who he will be. With everything that's happened this NFL offseason, it's hard to know anything for certain about the Cleveland Browns quarterback. For example: Where does he stand on the depth chart among the team's five QBs? There's no obvious answer. Even with all of his time in front of a camera or speaking into a microphone, we don't know Sanders yet. Multiple people close to him say that the Sanders we see in the public sphere isn't the guy we'll get to know throughout his career. We haven't met the real guy — underneath all this media attention and scrutiny. Just look at the headlines surrounding Sanders' recent workout session in the rain. It was a heavy storm in Miami, yet it didn't deter him from completing his workout with trainer Darrell Colbert. Given the reaction , you'd think Sanders had battled some sort of weather calamity to complete his throwing session. It was rain. Just water. He's not made of sugar. Now, this isn't to say the workout wasn't positive or noteworthy. It's good to see him working in adverse conditions. His throwing motion had snake-strike quickness. His footwork looked tight. But what does it say about him? It's one piece of the Sanders puzzle, which includes — according to an Instagram post from last week — the QB working out at 12:18 a.m. in Dallas. The skeptic in me wonders what he's doing working out at that hour. Practically speaking, what does he gain from a midnight workout? The optimist in me thinks that night games might keep him up that late — if there's overtime. So maybe that's why he's burning the midnight oil. (But the skeptic would also note that the Browns' latest kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET this year. So there's no night game on the immediate calendar.) These videos show a certain side of Sanders: the grinder. It's also a performance. He wants everyone to know he's a grinder. And that's fine. He can be the Browns' hardest worker — and also the team's biggest personality with the biggest spotlight. But that requires something that smells, tastes, feels and looks like perfection. That's not yet what Sanders has delivered. Sanders and his father, Deion Sanders, have claimed that the QB is about to prove everyone wrong after his draft-day fall, triggered in part by character concerns . And we'd have an easier time believing that if Shedeur didn't just get a 100-mph speeding ticket last month. It's not just about the citation. (Everyone speeds, though probably not that fast.) It's that he got another speeding ticket for going 91-mph earlier in June. So Sanders didn't just make the same mistake twice — he made the second mistake worse. In fairness, this is the type of immaturity that an NFL player can overcome. You might have forgotten, for example, that Browns superstar Myles Garrett received six speeding tickets from 2017 to 2022 . That doesn't make it right. But it goes to show that it's a transgression that stars can move past. For now, Sanders' speeding incidents, even if they have little to do with football, will lead to questions about how much he's really focused on the game — questions that reached a fever pitch after he flunked his combine interviews. The speeding incidents blur the simple picture of a guy who's grinding at his craft in the rain and working out at 12:18 a.m. It's likely Sanders will be LEGENDARY, the name of his personal brand. But anyone who knows what Sanders will be legendary for is kidding himself. Will he be famous? Or infamous? Will he become a legend for failing to meet expectations? Or will he exceed the expectations of all the NFL teams that let him slip to the fifth round? Those are huge questions. The solution is to start small. Win the meeting. Win the snap. Win the practice period. Win the practice. He'll need to win when he's on the field with the rookies this week. And he'll need to win with the third- and fourth-teamers when the veterans report next week. That's likely where he'll start in his fight for QB1. And then if he somehow leaps past Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel, Sanders will have to worry about next year. Even if he plays serviceably, there's no guarantee he's Cleveland's future at QB. The 2026 draft will offer plenty of quarterbacks, and, potentially under a new head coach, the Browns would be in position to draft one. Certainly, Sanders would have to be something special to overcome this roster that has talent in key places (WR Jerry Jeudy, TE David Njoku, rookie RBs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson) but big holes at just about every spot on the offensive line. The defense isn't one with many bragging rights either. Over the next 12 months, we should get a stronger sense of who Sanders is — and who he will be. That starts in training camp, where the real work begins. Sometimes he'll be studying up until midnight, but most of that work will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sanders reports to camp with Browns rookies on Friday. It's time for him to show himself to the organization. Is he that guy grinding in the rain and the wee hours of the morning? Or is he that guy who keeps getting cited for speeding? That's for Sanders to decide, publicly and privately. Jennifer Love Hewitt Shows Off Her Curves in Gorgeous Little Black Dress on Red Carpet

Jennifer Love Hewitt looked radiant at the red carpet premiere of the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. Hewitt, 46, flaunted her curves in a black, beaded dress on Monday, July 14, accessorizing the look with glittery black heels and a ring on nearly every finger. The redhead kept her makeup tastefully dramatic with a smoky eye and glossy pink lip. She smiled as she posed for photos in downtown Los Angeles alongside costars Freddie Prinze Jr., Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon and Jonah Hauer-King. Hewitt starred with Prinze Jr., 49, in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), where their characters, Julie James and Ray Bronson, are stalked by a serial killer after they try to cover up a car accident that supposedly kills a stranger. The pair reprise their respective roles in the reboot, which hits theaters on Friday, July 18. What to Know About New 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' Movie With Jennifer Love Hewitt's Return The film's trailer dropped in April, and showed Cline's character, Danica Richards, taking a bath — completely unaware that her boyfriend is being murdered downstairs. Afterward, she asks a friend if the killing was 'some kind karma for what we did,' adding, 'What if someone saw what happened?' Danica's fears are seemingly substantiated when she receives a card that warns, terrifyingly, 'I know what you did last summer.' Hewitt has heard that line before. At the end of the trailer, Sui Wonders' character is shown recruiting Julie, now older and still-traumatized, for help. 'I just have one question. What did you do last summer?' Julie asks. Freddie Prinze Jr. Says Ray's 'Trauma' Is What Drew Him Back to 'IKWYDLS,' Teases 'Big' Role Hewitt also played the horror heroine in the 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, opposite Prinze Jr., Brandy and Mekhi Phifer. A new cast headlined a third film, I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), and in 2021, Prime Video launched a TV series that was canceled after one season. 'Listen, I loved doing those movies,' Hewitt exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2024, as speculation swirled that she'd soon return to the franchise. 'There is nothing more fun than doing a horror movie. It's the best. Julie James is awesome. I do think that there's unfinished business there, and so I would be happy to do it.' Earlier this year, the actress took to Instagram and shared a makeup-free selfie, telling her fans that she's 'learning to love the skin I'm in more and more these days.' In a separate post, she marked her 46th birthday in February with another bare-faced photo. Jennifer Love Hewitt Says Fans Have 'Hard Time Accepting' She Doesn't Look the Same as She Did at 20 'It's been a hard start to the year,' she revealed at the time. 'I don't quite feel myself. But yet I feel like maybe this is all to bring me closer to who I am meant to be.' She thanked her family for supporting her as she navigates aging in the public eye. 'In this feeling of loss and being lost I have found a strange calm and letting go that doesn't usually come easy to me,' she added. 'I know that I have the greatest kids and husband ever. My brother's hugs heal me. I feel my mom with me everyday. My friends make me want to be a better human daily.' She continued: 'I have all the things I really need and long truly for nothing other than joyful moments, continuing in the career I love, more time with friends, delicious food and to feel a shift to this year that brings clarity and hopefully the return of a little magic.'
