Dehydrated, Dull Skin After Travel? These Ayurvedic Hacks Will Save Your Glow
Being constantly on the move often wreaks havoc on your skin. Follow these expert-backed Ayurvedic rituals that can help you restore your skin's natural glow.
Whether you're backpacking through the mountains, hopping time zones on a work trip, or jetting off for a much-needed beach vacation, travel brings with it a unique set of challenges, especially for your skin. Long flights, sudden weather changes, irregular sleep patterns, and a disrupted routine can easily lead to dryness, dullness, puffiness, or even unexpected breakouts. Add to that the stress of planning, packing, and unfamiliar diets, and it's no surprise that your skin starts acting up just when you want to look your best.
That's where ancient wisdom meets modern skincare. Pooja Nagdev, cosmetologist and founder of Inatur, shares a few Ayurvedic-inspired rituals that can help keep your skin balanced, hydrated, and resilient, no matter how chaotic your itinerary gets.
2. Hydrate Inside-Out: Water alone won't cut it. Nagdev recommends going deeper: 'Add fennel seeds or turmeric to lukewarm water before or during your travels. It's anti-inflammatory and helps your gut, which is directly connected to your skin."
3. Keep a Facial Mist Handy: Dry air is a skin saboteur. 'Carry a rose water or thermal spring mist. It keeps the skin calm, hydrated, and pH-balanced during long flights or extreme weather conditions," she says.
4. Stick to the Basics: Travel isn't the time to experiment. Nagdev advises, 'Avoid actives like retinol or AHAs. Use a gentle cleanser, a basic hydrating cream, and sunscreen. Let your skin rest, not react."
5. Support Your Gut for Better Skin: Digestive disturbances can show up as puffiness or breakouts. Nagdev's tip? 'Cumin-coriander-fennel tea reduces bloating and inflammation — helping both your gut and your skin."
6. Moisturise the Nose & Eyes Too: Air travel can cause nasal dryness and tired eyes. 'Apply ghee or petroleum jelly inside the nostrils before flying," Nagdev suggests. She also recommends rose water or eye drops to refresh the eyes, along with limiting screen time and getting quality sleep.
7. Prioritise Recovery: 'Use hydrating sheet masks or soothing moisturizers with niacinamide or panthenol to repair your barrier overnight," she says. Rest is your skin's best reset.

CIDCO mulls sustainable mobility plan for Navi Mumbai and NAINA
Thane, July 31 (PTI) Maharashtra town planning authority, CIDCO, on Thursday said a comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) will be formulated for the transit development of Navi Mumbai and the international airport influence notified area (NAINA). The plan for 2054 and beyond aims to promote a sustainable, inclusive, and efficient transportation policy for one of the country's fastest-growing urban corridors. 'With projects such as Navi Mumbai International Airport, Corporate Park, Aerocity, Edu City, Logistic Park, Medicity, along with residential and industrial growth, traffic volume in Navi Mumbai is set to rise substantially. 'In this backdrop, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan will serve as a guiding framework for CIDCO and other authorities to develop a versatile, inclusive, and future-ready transportation system," Vijay Singhal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO, stated. The proposed CMP will adopt a holistic approach, integrating various forms of mobility like public transportation, private vehicles, and non-motorised options such as walking and cycling. Some of the key objectives of the CMP include ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable transport for all and creating an integrated transportation network across Navi Mumbai and NAINA. Currently, Navi Mumbai's infrastructure includes 980 km of roadways, major corridors such as the Thane-Belapur Road, Sion-Panvel Highway, and Palm Beach Road, a 60-km railway network, the Belapur-Pendhar Metro, and bus services. 'The CMP will play a crucial role in identifying gaps in the current transportation network, prioritising investments, and creating a phased roadmap aligned with local and regional mobility needs," CIDCO stated. The plan is expected to be finalised in phases following consultations with regional stakeholders, transport experts, and urban planners. Hot air balloon rides in Delhi in two months: DDA
New Delhi, Jul 31 (PTI) Delhiites would get an opportunity to experience hot air balloon rides as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has finalised an agency to conduct the adventure activity at four locations, officials said on Thursday. According to officials, after careful consideration, the four locations have been selected for the initial start of the project, these are the Yamuna sports complex and Commonwealth Games sports complex and two other sites along the Yamuna Bank at Asita and Baansera. 'This project will promote eco-tourism and recreational activities and provide a unique aerial perspective of the national capital and its landscape. The entire concept has been visualised under the guidance and supervision of Lt Governor VK Saxena," a statement from the DDA added. The agency would commence operations in two months time, and DDA will provide 3600 sqm of space at each site for operation of tethered hot air balloons. As per officials, each day four hours of flying time will be allowed, and the private company will be operating on a revenue-sharing model, the agency will be allowed advertising on the balloons. These tethered hot air balloons will be tied to a rope at one end on ground. 'However, DDA may extend it as per requirements. To ensure transparency and proper record keeping, all proceeds from ticketing will be credited to DDA's account," the statement added. The price of the hot-air balloon rides will be decided by the firm. However, DDA has directed them to keep the tickets at a reasonable price. Spread across a vast space of around 100 acres, the Commonwealth Games Village along the banks of the Yamuna River was constructed as a residence for athletes during the Commonwealth Games in 2010. It is located near Akshardham temple. The Yamuna Sports Complex situated in Surajmal Vihar was also constructed for the games, it is the biggest sports complex developed by DDA. Watch: Japanese Vlogger Evacuates With Pet Cat And Bird After Tsunami Sirens
Japanese travel photographer documents his evacuation during Russia's 8.8 earthquake on Instagram, highlighting the importance of disaster preparedness with pets. People of Russia were jolted awake when an 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on July 30. The massive tremors caused small tsunami waves in Japan and Alaska, prompting warnings for Hawaii, North and Central America and the Pacific islands south towards New Zealand. Now, a Japanese man, living close to the ocean, captured the gravity of the situation by uploading a video on Instagram. In the clip, the man, a travel photographer and content creator, showed how he evacuated his home with his pets (a cat and a bird) in the hour of emergency. 'I live about a 10-minute walk from the ocean, so when an earthquake occurs, I always have to be mindful of the risk of a tsunami," he shared in his caption. The creator recalled that ahead of the earthquake, the government of Japan had already issued a tsunami warning early in the morning. When he stepped out of his house to check the situation, he found the people in his 'quiet neighbourhood… walking and running with large bags." Realising the danger, he too was prepared to evacuate quickly. 'This was my first time experiencing something like this, so I hadn't made any preparations in advance. My priority was getting my pets—my cat and my bird—out safely. I left the pancakes I was making for breakfast still sitting in the frying pan, quickly packed just a little camera gear into my bag, and headed to the designated evacuation site at the local middle school," revealed the travel vlogger. Residents were taken to air-conditioned classrooms inside the school premises, but pet owners were barred from the facility and had to wait outside. 'What I found unfortunate was that there were tourists at the evacuation site as well. They came here to enjoy Japan, and I couldn't help but worry that they might have felt scared by the experience," wrote the man. His key takeaways from the incident were being fully prepared for such disasters and creating a 'checklist for things to bring in emergencies—like food, water, and pet supplies" so that he can act calmly yet quickly, not only for himself but also for his pets. The internet mostly expressed its concern for the man. 'So glad you're okay", wrote one user. 'The fact that people with animals were not allowed inside is very unexpected to me. Also makes me sad and somewhat angry," admitted another. 'Hopefully, you can find out where to go with pets," wished one person. According to the local branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake was the strongest to hit the Kamchatka Peninsula since 1952.
