Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar 2 Baby Steps Away From Rs 30-Crore Mark
Ajay Devgn's comedy drama clocked an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.81 per cent on Monday, August 4. Ajay Devgn's comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2 was released in theatres on August 1. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the rib-tickling sequel started its journey on a promising note with strong audience support, translating into impressive box office numbers. On its opening weekend, the film held its ground well, as the masses loved the high-energy humour and dramatic flair. But on Monday, the film hit its slowest day so far. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Son of Sardaar 2 added just Rs 2.50 crore to its box office tally on day 4. While the dip in footfall isn't surprising given it was a Monday (the day is notorious for pulling the brakes on most theatrical runs), it's still crucial for the film to gain momentum through the week. Son Of Sardaar 2's Box Office Collection According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday. Over the weekend, Son of Sardaar 2 saw steady growth, bringing its first weekend total to Rs 24.75 crore. It collected Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday, August 2, and Rs 9.25 crore on Sunday, August 3. With Monday's numbers in, Son of Sardaar 2's total collection now stands at Rs 27.25 crore. The comedy drama clocked an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.81 per cent on Monday, August 4. The film saw steady growth through the day, with 6.21 per cent occupancy in morning shows, 11.16 per cent in the afternoon, and 13.23 per cent in the evening. The numbers peaked during night shows, with 16.64 per cent occupancy. Son Of Sardaar 2's Storyline and Cast The action comedy, helmed by Vijay Kumar Arora, offers a blend of action and comedy, with intriguing twists and new characters added to the OG film. Son of Sardaar 2 follows Jassi, who travels to Scotland to win back his estranged wife. But his journey takes him into a hostage crisis, a mafia war and a chaotic Sikh wedding. Besides Ajay Devgn, the film features an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Sanjay Mishra, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Vindu Dara Singh, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta and debutant Roshni Walia, in other pivotal roles. A spiritual sequel to Ajay Devgn's 2012 hit film of the same name, the comedy franchise is backed by Ajay Devgn, Pravin Talreja, Jyoti Deshpande and NR Pachisia, under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios. 7 Hindi films based on caste discrimination
7 Hindi films based on caste discrimination August 04, 2025 Caste discrimination has long been a deeply rooted social issue in India, and cinema has played a vital role in bringing such stories to the forefront. Here are seven Hindi films that shed light on caste discrimination. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Masaan explores the lives of two individuals dealing with loss, guilt, and societal pressure. The story follows Deepak (played by Vicky Kaushal), a young man from a Dom family that cremates bodies on the Ganges. Masaan (2015) Dhadak 2 has taken a more direct and realistic approach to caste-based discrimination than its predecessor. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the film is a reflection on how caste divides can tragically impact relationships. Dhadak 2 (2025) While Lagaan is best remembered for its underdog cricket drama, it also subtly addresses caste discrimination. Lagaan (2001) Based on the real-life story of Phoolan Devi, Bandit Queen is a brutal, unflinching portrayal of caste and gender oppression. Bandit Queen (1994) Directed by Priyadarshan, Aakrosh is a gritty action-thriller inspired by real-life honour killing cases. It follows two CBI officers investigating the disappearance of three medical students in a caste-dominated village. Aakrosh (2010) Originally a Tamil film, Jai Bhim became widely popular across India in its Hindi-dubbed version. Based on a real legal case, it tells the story of a tribal man falsely accused and tortured in custody. Jai Bhim (2021) Directed by Satyajit Ray and based on a short story by Munshi Premchand, Sadgati is a sharp social commentary on caste discrimination in rural India. Sadgati (1981)
