I lived on a cruise ship – we got no days off but you did get free food and didn't have to pay tax or rent

Scroll down to find out what Anaya thinks is "literally insane" about living on a cruise ship OCEAN OVERTIME I lived on a cruise ship – we got no days off but you did get free food and didn't have to pay tax or rent A TRAVEL fan has revealed what it was really like to live and work on a cruise ship. Anaya Daisy, who is currently exploring Thailand but was previously working on a cruise ship in the shore excursions department, claimed that during her stint on the ship, she never got any days off. Advertisement 2 A young woman has revealed all about living on a cruise ship Credit: TikTok/@ 2 Anaya Daisy expressed that she didn't get any days off during her time at sea but did get free food Credit: TikTok/@ Despite this, she revealed the benefits to living on a cruise ship and explained that not only was the food free, but she didn't have to pay any rent or tax either. Posting on social media, the brunette got candid on cruise ship life, as she said: 'Do you get days off while working on a cruise ship? Now, this is a question I get asked quite a lot, both by people off the ship and then guests that are actually on the ship, but the answer, unfortunately, is no, we don't get any days off.' Anaya explained that 'most of the crew' don't get any days off, as it is 'an unwritten rule' that you work the entirety of your contract. The content creator, who doesn't have to pay tax whilst on board, acknowledged that contracts can range from anywhere for three months up to nine months. Advertisement She added: 'Because the cruise is running nearly every day of the year, we can't have any days off because obviously, we're gonna have passengers, and who's gonna look after the passengers if everyone's having days off? 'Yes, this does sound like a lot, and yes, it sometimes does feel like a lot, but even though we're working seven days a week, that doesn't necessarily mean that you're gonna be working all of the entire day.' Anaya then expressed that rather than having a day off, many departments will get the middle of the day off to relax and explore the cruise ship. Her hours vary, but she never works more than 10 hours a day. Advertisement But Anaya, who gets free food onboard and is allowed to eat at the crew buffet, isn't bothered by never having a full day off, as she claimed that there are 'so many perks of working on a cruise ship.' In particular, for Anaya, who lives in a 'basic' but free shared accommodation with bunk beds, waking up in a different country every day is something she finds 'literally insane.' I 'live' on a cruise ship with my son & fiancé - the food's amazing, there's childcare & our laundry's done for free too Not only this, but she then continued: 'Although that's not a full day off, you're still getting time to actually enjoy the ports that we're going to and enjoy the countries that we're visiting. 'It might sound kind of crazy that we don't have any days off, especially if you have a really long contract, but you just get used to it after a bit and I suppose it's the price you pay for seeing the world, so, yeah, I really don't mind.' Advertisement Social media users react Anaya's TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 94,300 views, 3,220 likes and 107 comments. Social media users were stunned by Anaya's full on work life on the ship and many were eager to know more about life on board. It might sound kind of crazy that we don't have any days off, especially if you have a really long contract, but you just get used to it after a bit Anaya Daisy One person said: 'Up to nine months without a day off is crazy!' Another added: 'Love the ship content.' Advertisement A third commented: 'That sounds so full on, sounds amazing though.' Pros and cons of going on a cruise ship Whether you're considering a long holiday, working remotely or even living on board a cruise ship for a few months or years, here are the pros and cons from a former cruise shipper. Pros Travel the world, learn and experience new cultures Meet new people Don't have to think or worry about room cleaning, or food Cons Internet connection can be painfully slow and expensive Limited luggage allowance so have to wear the same clothes on rotation Having no control of where the ship would go next and the possibility of visiting the same ports Having the same onboard entertainment, on-demand movies, and little choice of TV channels No fresh newspapers or new books unless someone adds them to the library Relatively the same food week after week unless major menu changes occur seasonally. Occasional rough seas, bad weather and viral outbreaks while inboard. Meanwhile, one user asked: 'Genuine question because I want to work on a cruise but how do you see the world if you don't get a day off?' To this, Anaya confirmed: 'Because sometimes we have breaks off in the middle of the day and I work in the excursions department so I spend a lot of time on the trips and seeing the places that way.' At the same time, someone else questioned: 'What happens if you get really sick?' Advertisement Setting the record straight, Anaya explained: 'You would see the medical centre if you were ill. If they thought you were too sick to work then you'd get 'signed off'. If you've not been signed off by medical then you'd still have to work.' Not only this, but one person wondered: 'How common is cheating?' Anaya then confirmed: 'Hmmmm, VERY!!' Abandoned hotel where beds made and food is still on tables

A creepy hotel was discovered by a woman in Bali - and it looks as if it was abandoned in a hurry by staff and guests as there is still food on plates and beds made up A deserted and creepy hotel in Bali has gone viral online after a woman shared videos of the abandoned resort online. It looks as if it was quickly evacuated in its heyday, as it even has meals still on plates and beds made up in a number of the rooms. ‌ Graphic designer Paulina Andriulyte found the hotel while working remotely on the island, and took to TikTok under the name @padesignstudio to share her discovery, which has had nearly 30 million views altogether. She explored the empty hotel, with 266 rooms left almost pristine, and revealed the scary abandoned site. ‌ "Abandoned places have intrigued me since I was a child and that hasn't changed at all," Paulina said. It's believed the hotel was evacuated in 2020, but no one knows why. ‌ Paulina added: 'There's something magical about these places I can't explain, it's like entering another world. We just love going where the eyes lead without any expectations. In that way, we find the most spectacular places which are untouched by mass tourism." After doing some digging, Paulina found the last reviews of the hotel were written in 2020, so assumed it was around then the vast exit was made. "The place was completely open, there were no signs of the closure, no fence, or anything like that. ‌ "If anything, in the beginning, we thought it was a functioning hotel, as we noticed two helmets placed on the ground by the reception, so thought that someone is still in the hotel." The footage shows different areas of the venue including the entrance, which has been taken over by nature, as well as various rooms, dining spaces and trinkets that Paulina discovered. She also found rooms that were made up for the guests - who never arrived, finished off with towels, leaflets and toilet roll in position. ‌ The food still on the table and half-eaten plates and documents in the room further highlighted the hotel's former runnings, which makes it even eerier. She said: "The moment we entered the reception, we still couldn't understand where is everyone and that this was an abandoned place. It felt like everyone was here a few hours ago and just left somewhere.' While it looks like it is still a running hotel, it's clear it's abandoned due to the mould growing on the walls and it's now become a home to lots of wildlife - living the life of luxury. Paulina recalled: "There were a lot of huge insects and reptiles everywhere in the hotel. Mould damaged the walls and ceilings and some corridor ceilings had completely collapsed from the mould and humidity. ‌ "However, we didn't notice any vandalism damage, it seems like it's all just natural decay." TikTok users have been left stunned by her videos, with one racking up over 2 million likes alone. "Those rooms are cleaner than mine," joked one viewer, while another assumed the hotel closure was due to the pandemic and said: 'I think the lockdown started and the hotel closed shortly after so the people who work there left without knowing that they would never be back." Although a third jibed: "I see a lot of free stuff."

Revealed: The items of clothing that will get you kicked out of Disneyland

A tourist at Disneyland Paris has highlighted all the items of clothing that are firmly banned - including how turning up trying to emulate one of the theme park's famous characters is a definite no-no. In a post on TikTok, Disney fan @sophiesm1th revealed five sartorial choices that could quickly end a day at the famous park close to Paris. Donning a costume that resembles any of the brand's most famous faces - from Belle to Moana and Mickey and Minnie - is likely to land guests over the age of 12 in hot water. The TikToker explains: 'Costumes are only allowed for guests 12 and under. Disney is not a cosplay convention'. She adds: 'They want children to meet real Disney trained characters, not Susan who's wearing a full Elsa costume chain-smoking outside Hyperspace Mountain. Elsewhere, she lists the other four wardrobe malfunctions that won't wash with the Disney powers that be. From a safety point of view, she says, 'any clothing that drags on the ground' will get a firm rebuff at the gates to Europe's most popular theme park. Such garments are 'a safety risk on rides and totally impractical in a packed park' - and shoes are also a bare feet banned. Slogan tees that carry offensive statements are outlawed too, with garments that 'shock, scare or cause offence' prohibited - guests will be asked to change or leave. And tattoos have to be covered up if they're particularly graphic, such as showing violence, horror or sexual images. Indeed, any inappropriate looks that go against the family friendly vibes of the park - such as bra-tops or bikinis for women, or shirtless for men, is likely to see you reprimanded, not just in Paris but at all the Disney parks globally. Last month, over in Florida, a Disney World visitor ignited a heated debate on social media after claiming she was denied access to a Disney World ride due to her 'inappropriate' gym attire. Nicole Arena, a personal trainer from the U.S., took to TikTok to document her experience during a visit to Orlando's Walt Disney World Epcot park with her husband. In a series of videos posted to her account @arenalifts, Arena said she was 'dress-coded' for wearing a white Nike sports bra and black leggings - an outfit she described as typical gym wear. Uploading a selfie with her partner taken inside the park, she wrote in overlay text: 'Was so happy to be here that I didn't realize I was "improperly dressed" and would be forced to buy a $45 [£33] tshirt or else I could not get on the ride I waited an hour for.' In a follow-up clip, Arena showed off the outfit in question, which consisted of a fitted sports bra and high-waisted leggings, adding in a caption: 'I really didn't think anything of this tbh.' The parkgoer explained in another video that she had 'nothing showing' other than her stomach and arms, and blasted viewers who suggested she had arrived at Disney World 'naked.' She added: 'Anyone who goes to the gym knows it's totally fine to walk around with a sports bra and leggings on. I just went to Disney, how I would go to the gym.' The videos have since racked up hundreds of thousands of views - sparking a flurry of conflicting opinions in the comments. Many critics sided with Disney's decision, arguing that a sports bra fails to meet dress standards for a family theme park. One person wrote, 'It's a sports bra, not a shirt,' while another added, 'If it's a bra, it's underwear. I don't think I could get in wearing underwear.' A third commented: 'I don't think the sports bra itself is an issue, but the color was a poor choice. There are rides there that involve water and there are areas to cool off with water sprayers. That will become see-through and that's the issue.' A fourth viewer added: 'Perfectly appropriate for the gym. Not appropriate for anywhere in public, not just Disney.' Others felt the park was too strict, as one person argued: 'I've seen so many people wear similar outfits that's crazy. In 98 degrees that's so much more comfortable and I don't think it's inappropriate at all.' Another said: 'This is tame compared to most Disney outfits. I can't believe you got dress coded. Disney is all tiny crop tops, mini skirts, short shorts, etc.' A third wrote: 'Honestly I don't see anything wrong with that. Lifelong resident of Orlando. That outfit to me is suitable, it's hot outside, you're walking around a lot, lots of movement.' Parents also weighed in, with one writing: 'As a parent, there isn't anything wrong with it, especially since we went there for 15 years and I always saw people in far less and not get dress coded.'
