Although notable positive developments have been observed in Manipur, the RSS, at a press conference today, noted that achieving complete normalcy will require more time.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders Sunil Ambekar and Anil Agarwal held a joint press conference on Monday, touching upon various significant issues. The RSS said that with their workers on ground in Manipur, positive developments were taking place in the state.
'RSS volunteers are actively working to restore peace and foster dialogue among the Meitei and other communities affected by the conflict," said Ambekar, RSS's Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh. Although notable positive developments have been observed, the leaders noted that achieving complete normalcy will require more time.
The RSS is implementing inclusive outreach initiatives aimed at engaging diverse sections of society. People from border areas have actively participated in these programmes, reflecting growing trust and a widening social connection, the two RSS pracharaks said.
On the topic of the socialist and secular words in the Constitution, the RSS recalled the Emergency period as a time of severe political repression and constitutional violations. 'Democratic values were suspended, and amendments were made without a genuine public mandate," Ambekar said. The leaders urged future generations to study this dark chapter to understand the fragility of democracy when 'power is unchecked".
Language Row And Attacks By Congress
Regarding the language row, Sunil Ambekar stated that the RSS has always considered all Indian languages as national languages. He asserted that people should speak the language prevalent in their region, and primary education should be imparted in that language.
Discussing attacks from the Congress, the leaders mentioned that attempts to impose a ban on the RSS were met with public outrage or legal pressure, which led to the rollback, as the ban lacked legitimacy from the outset.
Under the Panch Parivartan framework, the RSS aims for comprehensive national transformation focusing on five key areas: advancing economic self-reliance, promoting individual well-being, nurturing values-based living, strengthening social welfare, and ensuring inclusive economic growth. The core focus of the RSS Centenary Year is to expand its outreach on a massive scale, ensuring a connection with every stratum of society and fostering inclusivity and national integration.
On intellectual engagement at the district level, the RSS plans to hold meetings in all 924 Sangh-structured districts involving intellectuals and esteemed personalities. These interactions aim to deepen ideological dialogue and strengthen the organisation's connection with thought leaders across the country.
As part of its mass outreach, the RSS will organise Hindu Sammelans in every mandal and basti, covering 58,000 mandals and 44,000 bastis. In total, over one lakh Hindu Sammelans will be held nationwide to strengthen grassroots connections.
Last year, during May and June, the RSS conducted over 100 Sangh Prashikshan Vargs (training camps), with 75 of them specifically for participants below 40 years of age. A total of 17,609 volunteers, including those at the Nagpur headquarters, participated in these camps. Additionally, 8,813 students took part in Sangh Shiksha Vargs, showcasing strong youth engagement. For the 40–60 age group, 4,270 volunteers were trained, highlighting inter-generational involvement in the organisation's ideological and practical training.

Peace returning to Manipur as our volunteers mediate Meitei-Kuki talks: RSS

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers are making efforts to reduce tension in Manipur by promoting dialogue between the Meitei and Kuki communities, the RSS has said. The Sangh asserts that peace is gradually returning to the state, which has been embroiled in ethnic violence since May 2023. RSS national publicity and media department head Sunil Ambekar said delegates, who attended a three-day meeting of the 'prant pracharaks' here, shared information on the current situation in Manipur and 'positive' developments unfolding in the state. 'People from all over the country had come to attend the meeting. They also shared information on how 'swayamsevaks' (RSS volunteers) are trying to establish harmony there as quickly as possible, establish peace,' the senior RSS functionary told reporters on July 7, briefing on the outcomes of the meeting which concluded on Sunday. 'For this, they (RSS swayamsevaks) are promoting talks between their Meitei and Kuki communities, and all the people, so that there is a good atmosphere among them. They are trying for this,' he said. Ambekar said that the situation in Manipur has improved compared to last year. 'Many positive things came to light from their (delegates') experience. It will take some more time (for the situation to return to complete normalcy). But some positive news has been received through them (delegates who attended the RSS meeting),' he added. Replying to a question on the opposition's claim that there is no normalcy in the state, Ambekar said, "When conditions worsen anywhere, it does not get better in a day. But definitely, if we compare it with the previous years, peace has started returning to some extent. "The peace process has begun. The dialogues happening between the two sides will progress.' In a statement later, Ambekar said RSS volunteers are talking to 'both sides' (Meitei and Kuki) in their bid to restore normalcy in Manipur. 'Owing to this, positive changes can be seen on the ground,' he said. More than 260 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023. The Centre imposed President's rule in Manipur on February 13 after the then-chief minister, N Biren Singh, resigned. The state assembly, which has a tenure until 2027, has been suspended. On the issue of "secular and socialist" words added to the Preamble of the Constitution during the Emergency also figured in the RSS 'prant pracharaks' meeting, Ambekar said that RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale recently expressed his views on the issue, recalling atrocities carried out on the 'people in jails and the Constitution' during Emergency. "The new generation should know about this," the senior RSS functionary said. The dialogues happening between the two sides will progress. 'The circumstances under which the Constitution was amended were not right. There was no democratic situation then. Therefore, there is no closed chapter in democracy. A debate should happen on issues. It's every generation's right," he told reporters. Key Takeaways RSS volunteers are actively promoting dialogue between conflicting communities to reduce tensions. The situation in Manipur has shown signs of improvement compared to previous years. Engagement and communication are crucial steps towards restoring normalcy in conflict-affected regions.

No CM faced wrath of people like Revanth Reddy, says KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday said that no other chief minister than Revanth Reddy has faced so many abuses and insults across the villages in the history of Telugu states. Ridiculing the criticism of KCR by Revanth Reddy, Rama Rao said if he was sitting in the CM's chair it is because of the BRS chief. He made these comments while addressing a group of Congress leaders and workers from Medak who joined the BRS party at Telangana Bhavan. Stating that the Siddipet was once known for pigs and donkeys, the BRS leader said that donkeys have now left from Medak except for one or two and these two would also leave soon. Lashing out at the chief minister, Rao said, 'We have seen NT Rama Rao, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and KCR. No one faced the wrath of the people like Revanth Reddy. It is all drainage when he opens his mouth,' said KTR. He said that the chief minister promised loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh. The CM claimed waiving loans worth Rs 50,000 crore but washed off his hands by waiving just Rs 12,000 crore to Rs 13,000 crore. He assured RythuBandhu of Rs 15,000 for three crops but he gave just Rs 12,000 and wanted the farmers to celebrate and boasted that he will win 100 seats, said KTR. Taking objections to the language used by the chief minister against the leader of opposition, KTR said, 'Revanth should not forget that today he was sitting in the CM's post only because of KCR. We were in power for ten years but never talked irresponsibly. Is this IndirammaRajyam? Booking cases against people who post against the government.' Senior leader T Harish Rao said that earlier people used to say Siddipet means pigs and Medak means lots of donkeys. Now these places have been developed amazingly. There is Ramayampet Degree College, SC, ST Residential schools, KCR modernized the Ghanapuram canal. He ensured that even the last ayacut gets water. While KCR gave RythuBandhu in between cropping season, Revanth Reddy is giving in between the voting season. Lashing out at Irrigation Minister, Harish Rao said that Uttam Kumar Reddy always lies. 'Is it not a lie that you are cheating by not turning on the motors in Kalwakurthy while the gates are being lifted in Pothireddypadu and taking Krishna water? Isn't it true that lakhs of cusecs are going in Godavari? It is like the Revanth administration is sending water to Andhra and funds to Delhi,' said Harish Rao.

'Fragile, Rare, Priceless': Modi Govt To Digitise India's Manuscript Heritage

In the next three years, the Narendra Modi-led government will digitise thousands of ancient Indian manuscripts. According to a government tender from National Archives of India (NAI), many of the manuscripts are 'fragile, rare, deteriorating, brittle and to be handled with great care". For the digitisation project, a sum of Rs 50 crore has already been approved. These priceless records – some written on palm leaf, birch bark, parchment, cloth, or handmade paper – span a vast linguistic spectrum, including Sanskrit, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Arabic, and Persian, as per the document accessed by News 18. Hailed as India's most ambitious civilisational archiving mission to date, the groundwork for this digital effort was laid much earlier. The culture ministry initiated the process with at least three other websites – Indian Cultures, Abhilekh Patal, and the Indian Mission for Manuscripts. For years, various government and affiliated institutions quietly collected and preserved neglected manuscripts from temple libraries, scholar households, and oral traditions. In Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Kashi, teams collaborated with traditional scholars and researchers to digitise and catalogue regional scriptural records long before it became a priority. Now, the Centre is formalising this mission. According to the official document, the digitisation project will involve several procedures including unbinding, flattening, cleaning, scanning, quality control, metadata creation, optical character recognition (OCR) for applicable languages, and long-term digital storage. Once fully digitised, the content will be integrated into existing national knowledge systems through platforms such as the National Manuscripts Repository (NAMAMI), the National Virtual Library of India (NVLI), the Digital Library of India, the Bharatavani multilingual platform, and the government's flagship portal. These platforms will allow the general public to access and read the documents. This project is aimed at digitally preserving India's ancient manuscripts and important documents. The tender also mentions that several manuscripts are in 'an extremely fragile condition, susceptible to damage due to age and lack of proper storage", and stressed on the need for non-invasive digitisation using high-resolution scanners that do not expose records to heat or harsh lighting. Experts involved in the project told News18 that this effort is more than just preservation; it is a cultural reclamation.
