Criminal cases will be registered against Mathavallis: Abdul Aziz
Nellore: WaQF Board Chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz reaffirmed the coalition government's commitment to protecting Waqf Board properties, warning that criminal cases will be filed against board members (Mutawallis) found responsible for illegally selling Waqf properties. Speaking at a press conference in Vijayawada on Saturday, Aziz announced that an ongoing inquiry into the sale of Waqf properties will lead to strict action against guilty members. 'Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is resolute about safeguarding Waqf properties, and there will be no compromise,' he stated. Aziz highlighted that the Central government halted funding to the Waqf Board due to the previous YSRCP government's failure to submit utilisation certificates for Rs 386 crore. He noted that the issue has been raised with Chief Minister Naidu, who is addressing it with the Central government. The Chairman announced the formation of a Rent Review Committee (RRC) to manage rents from approximately 1,300 Waqf Board shops. To address issues like property sales and rent disputes, future Waqf Board meetings will be held across all districts, moving away from the earlier practice of convening only in Vijayawada. Aziz also revealed that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) applied to establish an MSME Park at Mallayapalem village in Guntur mandal. The Waqf Board decided to lease the land long-term to APIIC instead of permanently transferring it. Additionally, Rs 1.5 crore has been allocated for the development of Barashahid Dargah in Vijayawada, with further funds designated for the development of Kasumur and AS Pet Dargahs. Waqf Board Director SK Nasir stated that rental income will support the education of underprivileged Muslim students, their marriages, and the state government's P-4 initiative.

Telangana sets sights on Rs 9k crore youth self-employment scheme: Rajiv Yuva Vikasam rollout likely soon; govt faces fund crunch, banks wary over defaulters
HYDERABAD: After disbursing ₹9,000 crore to farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme in nine days, the Congress govt is now preparing to launch its next major welfare initiative-Rajiv Yuva Vikasam-to support youth self-employment ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has directed deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka to begin groundwork for the scheme, which is estimated to cost Rs 9,000 crore. Raising this amount poses a challenge, especially as the state govt recently cleared Rs 180 crore in pending bills of govt employees and is preparing to pay one pending DA instalment along with June salaries by July 1-an additional burden of Rs 200 crore. You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad The scheme saw an overwhelming response when applications were invited, with over 16 lakh youth applying. Originally scheduled for launch on June 2, the rollout was postponed to allow for a larger budget-increased from Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 9,000 crore-and better preparation. One of the key hurdles is finalising eligibility guidelines. The govt has already held preliminary talks with banks for loan linkage, but officials say the process is complicated by a significant number of applicants who are loan defaulters. Bankers are reportedly hesitant to approve fresh loans in such cases. However, finance department officials remain confident that a resolution will be reached in the final round of discussions with bankers. Official sources said the aim is to provide flexible support based on individual needs, ensuring youth from all socio-economic backgrounds, especially SC, ST, BC, minority, and EBC/EWS communities, can benefit. The govt is also debating whether to restrict eligibility to one member per family. To mobilise funds for the scheme, the state is reportedly exploring options such as land sales. Meanwhile, mandal-level committees, led by mandal parishad development officers, have been formed to scrutinise applications and select beneficiaries. These committees also include representatives from various welfare departments and local bankers.

51-49 Senate vote: Three Republicans who said 'no' to Trump's 'Big Beautiful' bill
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky(left), US President Donald Trump (middle), Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina (right) Three Republican senators—Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin—broke ranks on Saturday late-night senate session as the chamber voted 51–49 to advance President Donald Trump's sweeping One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Tillis and Paul opposed the motion outright, while Johnson initially voted no before switching after negotiations. Tillis cited concerns over deep Medicaid cuts, warning of adverse impacts on healthcare access in his state. Paul objected to a provision raising the national debt ceiling by USD 5 trillion. Johnson changed his vote following closed-door talks that addressed his deficit concerns. The nearly 940-page bill seeks to extend USD 3.8 trillion in Trump-era tax breaks, add new exemptions including no federal taxes on tips, and allocate USD 350 billion for national security and immigration enforcement. It proposes significant cuts to Medicaid, food stamps, and green energy programs to offset costs. A revised provision includes a USD 25 billion fund for rural hospitals, aimed at mitigating concerns over Medicaid provider tax reductions. The bill also raises the SALT deduction cap to USD 40,000 for five years and increases the national debt limit. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the bill could result in 11.8 million more uninsured Americans by 2034. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like local network access control Esseps Learn More Undo It estimates food aid would drop for 3 million recipients.
