Two passengers are charged with molesting a teen on a cruise ship bound for PortMiami
Ricardo Daniel Mondragon Leal, 37, Jose Juan Prudencio Diaz, 36, were arrested Friday, the day after the alleged sexual assault on the Independence of the Seas.
Mondragon and Prudencio Diaz live in the same modern Mexico City apartment building, according to arrest reports from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. As the criminal case finishes, they're both being held at the Miami-Dade Metro West Detention Center.
Mondragon was granted no bond on charges of sexual battery of a minor; lewd and lascivious exhibition by an adult on a minor under 16; and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child aged 12 to 16.
Diaz faces the same lewd and lascvious charges — no bond on those — and a charge of not informing another person in a sexual act of his HIV status. Each has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
As a result of their charges, both have holds for Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed on them.
The arrest paperwork reveals the 14-year-old was in the sauna on Thursday when Mondragon and Prudencio sexually abused the boy.
'We take these allegations very seriously and immediately notified local law enforcement,' a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson emailed. 'As this is an ongoing investigation, we have nothing further to share at this time.'

A woman says she was denied boarding on a Spirit Airlines flight this week — and claims her shorts were the reason. In a CBS News Miami video (below), traveler Tanasia Grayer recounts a tense scene at Miami International Airport on July 16, where she was told by a gate agent she couldn't get on her Chicago-bound flight. 'We were getting ready to board the plane, and the lady at the front desk, she stopped me and said, 'You're not getting on a plane like that,'' Grayer says in the on-camera interview. 'So I looked at her and said, 'Like what?' She said, 'With those shorts.'' Grayer says she had been walking through the airport for 40 minutes without anyone flagging her outfit. In the clip, she's seen wearing a pink robe, which she says she added to avoid appearing too revealing. 'They said you can't have your bottom or your butt out… that's why this robe is on.' But things escalated quickly — and it wasn't just about her outfit. According to a Spirit Airlines statement cited by CBS News Miami, the flight ban wasn't about the clothing, but Grayer's alleged behavior during the confrontation. The statement reads in part: "We always want our Guests to feel welcome and have a great experience. Consistent with other U.S. airlines, our Contract of Carriage contains certain clothing standards for all Guests traveling with us. Our records show a Guest was not in compliance with our Contract of Carriage and refused to comply when provided an opportunity to do so. The Guest and their travel companion were eventually denied boarding after displaying disruptive behavior. Further questions should be directed to law enforcement." Grayer's sister, Jessica Kordelewski, who appears to be the woman shouting, 'This is crazy, this is insane!' in the background of the CBS video, was arrested by police shortly afterward. The sheriff's department told the outlet she was charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing after a warning. 'I'm going home,' Kordelewski said after she was released from jail. 'We are done with Miami. We ain't never coming here again,' added Grayer. Spirit's official contract of carriage, most recently updated in January 2025, states passengers may be denied boarding if they are 'barefoot or inadequately clothed,' or if their attire is considered 'lewd, obscene or offensive.' Specific examples include see-through clothing exposing the breasts, buttocks, or other private parts, as well as offensive body art. Grayer told CBS she and her sister ended up rebooking with a different airline and made it home safely — but she made sure not to wear the same outfit the second time around. On the YouTube post of CBS News Miami's YouTube clip, commenters shared opinions on the dustup. Commenters appeared to overwhelmingly side with the airline, blasting the passenger's outfit as inappropriate for air travel. 'Those are not shorts. Those are underwear,' one viewer wrote. Another joked, 'Why would you want your skin to touch a Spirit Airline seat? I would be in sweats.' Some questioned the choice to escalate the situation instead of just slipping into something more modest: 'She could have put on proper attire in 1 minute and would be allowed to fly. She decided to argue and her sister to fight.' Others pointed out the irony of the look: "A 'Versace' robe… but flying Spirit.' And perhaps the most biting sentiment came from a commenter who summed up what many were thinking: 'These young people are serious? She goes to the airport with shorts that look like underwear and a bathrobe!!??? I'm truly embarrassed that she is NOT embarrassed to be on the news with this story.' New York tourist found murdered in Miami parking garage remembered by family, friends at funeral service
A 35-year-old woman from New York City who was found murdered in a parking garage in Miami two weekends ago was honored on Sunday at a funeral service in Hialeah. Friends of Chastidy Charlotte Rodriguez gathered at the Mother of Our Redeemer Catholic Parish to remember her. City of Miami Police said that she and 31-year-old Darious Coon from Detroit, whom she had met in Miami, were discovered at 10 a.m. in a car that was on the 10th floor of a parking garage by an apartment building at Northeast 2nd Avenue and 4th Street, just west of Biscayne Boulevard and Bayfront Park. Police said they had been shot and killed, and said it appeared that this did not involve a robbery since both of them still had their belongings with them. Miami Police spokesman Ofc. Mike Vega told CBS News Miami that the crimes could have been committed anywhere between July 16 and 19. He also said they are reviewing surveillance tape between those dates and are appealing for anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious to come forward and call Miami Police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477). "I am praying that God will accept my friend to heaven," said Rodriguez's friend Franchesca Martinez. "I remember her as a good friend. She was a great person. She was a great mother. She was a great daughter." She hopes the Miami Police investigation will pay off and lead to whoever committed the crimes. "We need to resolve this issue," Martinez said. "I want whoever did this, I want them in jail, at least." Rodriguez's brother told CBS News Miami that his sister had lived in New York City for more than 10 years and loved to visit Miami. He said she was thinking of leaving New York City in the next few years, and Miami would have been one of her top choices as her next destination. He said that her body will be sent to the Dominican Republic in the next few days, and that's where family members will hold their funeral service for her. "She was a good person and a good person and everyone around her knew she had a good heart. I don't want this to be just another case. We want justice," he told CBS News Miami on Friday. "We also need to know the motive because it is not fair that someone you love, who did not deserve this, had to go out so early. I hope detectives can find the person or the people who did this."

Police send tactical units to look for suspects behind armed carjacking Sunday morning
Miami police to reports of an armed carjacking around 2 a.m. on SW 17th Avenue and 5th Street. Officers found the car a few blocks away. The suspect had fled after hitting a building. Police established a perimeter and began looking for the suspect. Nick Acosta Drove by a mangled car inside a perimeter on 22nd avenue this morning. "The front of it is just imploded into the hood," Acosta said. Miami police were looking for who was behind what they called an armed carjacking. "I'm stunned to hear that. When I found out that that's what it's about I was honestly shocked because when I was driving part the angle that they hit it they had to be clearly deviated," Acosta said. The road is open up again. Police said no one was hurt and they are still investigating the circumstances behind all this. Cops were out in full tactical gear looking for those that were behind this incident. Acosta says that's not the first time he's seen this kind of police activity around here. "Force meeting force always makes me more concerned quite frankly. I know you need to resolve these kinds of issues," Acosta said. Miami police say three subjects were detained. CBS News Miami cameras captured two different people being placed in the back of patrol cars. But police haven't said if any arrests have been made yet.
