Mark Wahlberg hails Scots brothers rowing the Pacific as ‘warriors'

Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean are more than halfway into their 120-day Pacific challenge to cross 9,000 miles of open ocean between Lima and Sydney.
Earlier in June, the Perfect Storm star had video-called them to say their record-breaking bid 'could be a movie'.
In his latest call, the 53-year-old actor said he would keep in touch with the trio as they make their way across the globe, hailing them as 'f****** warriors'.

He said: 'You guys are bored. You need someone to talk to. You need someone to, you know, give you a little pump up. Let me know. I'm available.'
Wahlberg joked: 'Well, you know what would make me a legend? Playing one of you guys, or all three, in a movie. There've been a few actors who've played twins before, but I could maybe play all three of you, change up my look a little bit.'
He added: 'You guys are doing something that's so extraordinary. It's another level. This is real man shit you're doing. You're out there with big smiles on your faces, pounding away, while everybody else is lying in bed in dreamland, nice and dry, and still waking up complaining about something.
'You're not doing this for attention – you're doing it to raise attention for a very worthy cause. You guys are real men. You're f****** warriors. It's incredible.
'Hopefully, you'll inspire other people to find something important to do to raise awareness. It's awesome, guys.'

As well as aiming to set a record for the fastest row across the world's largest ocean, the brothers are hoping to raise £1 million for clean water projects in Madagascar.
So far they have raised more than £125,000.
Challenges experienced by the brothers so far include salt sores, relentless weather, a broken water maker and a faulty auto helm.
Their 28ft (8.5m) carbon fibre boat, Rose Emily, is named in memory of their late sister.
It has no engine and no sail and the brothers are powering their way across the ocean in two-hour shifts.

Jamie Borthwick's EastEnders future 'uncertain' as BBC questioned amid John Torode sacking

EastEnders'Jamie Borthwick kept his job after using an ableist slur when he was on Strictly, but Masterchef judge John Torode was sacked over racism allegations. Jamie Borthwick's time on EastEnders has reportedly been brought into question amid the BBC's sacking of John Torode. ‌ It previously emerged that actor, who plays Jay Brown on the BBC soap, had used a disabled slur when he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year, and after it was revealed that Masterchef judge John Torode had been sacked from the broadcaster's culinary competition show for allegedly using the N-word twice, insiders have claimed that the "difference in treatment" of each of the stars has become a topic of concern, especially when considering the "very similar" nature of the complaints. ‌ A source told The Sun: "The BBC have tied themselves into knots with this - for them both stars appear to have used unacceptable and offensive language but only one has been sacked while another has kept his lucrative salary and got away with just a suspension. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme nor reason with how the BBC chooses to implement its own rules and people are questioning why." ‌ The insider also claimed that various disabled colleagues have been left with questions over the incident, and claimed that they don't feel taken "seriously" when it comes to ableist slurs, adding: "Disabled colleagues have been left wondering why incidents of ableist slurs seemingly aren't being taken as seriously as racist language and there are no clear answers coming from bosses.' The 30-year-old actor has since apologised for using the derogatory word to describe locals in Blackpool, where Strictly filmed their special ballroom towards the end of 2024. It's reported footage was made of Jamie using the word, which was then sent to one of his friends. After the allegations emerged, Jamie issued an apology, stating: "I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. ‌ At the time, the soap star rounded off his statement by claiming that he "did not fully understand" the term he used, but still took full responsibility for his actions, as he said: "It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning. That is on me completely. Now I am aware, I am deeply embarrassed to have used the term and directed it in the way I did. It was wrong." Last month, it was claimed that Jamie was trying to "right the wrongs" in his life but, according to an ex, it was "not clear" at that stage whether he would keep his EastEnders job. News of John's allegations emerged on Tuesday after production company Banijay said that an investigation into his co-star Gregg Wallace 's behaviour by firm Lewis Silkin had "substantiated an accusation of highly offensive racist language against" John, 59. John however said in a statement: "I have no recollection of what I'm accused of." ‌ It's now been suggested that John, who had co-hosted the cooking show since 2005, used the N-word twice. John is said to vehemently deny ever using the racial slur. Earlier this week John came forward as the person alleged to have used racist language, after the allegation was upheld in a report into John's colleague Gregg Wallace's behaviour. John said he had no memory of making the comment and denies it ever happened. Later, Richard Osman spoke out to claim the ex MasterChef host used the 'worst racial slur there is'. And now it's been reported Torode allegedly used the N-word twice. ‌ The Sun reports that he repeated lyrics, containing the N-word, from Kanye West 's song Gold Digger at an after-work gathering six or seven years ago. He's then said to have used the word again whilst speaking to a member of the MasterChef production team. John allegedly used the word a second time when speaking to a member of the production team, described as a "pal" who reportedly didn't take offence. According to the outlet, the person who raised the complaint on that occasion is said to have overheard the conversation. His friend reportedly thought John used the slur as an "example" and "apologised afterwards". The publication adds that it's been told that John vehemently denies ever using the N-word, whether that be in song lyrics or otherwise. A source said that he's "utterly devastated" and "just wants to clear his name" amid the scandal.

Pregnant Sophie Habboo jets off on babymoon with Jamie Laing as he shares funny snaps from their flight

shared some funny snaps of his pregnant wife Sophie Habboo as they jetted off on a babymoon on Friday. The former Made In Chelsea star, 36, took to his Instagram to post a fun clip of Sophie, 30, standing outside of an airport looking a little downcast. He then posted a funny snap of the soon mother-to-be curled up on a chair of a plane with a thick eye mask and a cap covering the top of her face. Alongside the clip Jamie penned 'Hey Mamma' before writing on top of her sleeping picture, 'The Mamma Is Out'. For their trip, which the destination of has not yet been revealed, Sophie wore a pair of grey joggers and a grey T-shirt. Opting for comfort, the former reality TV personality finished her ensemble with a pair of black trainers and a black jacket. It comes after Sophie revealed on her and Jamie's newly named podcast NearlyParents, that she has struggled with some aspects of her pregnancy. She confessed that when her second trimester hit, she felt like she was 'dying' and was dealing with a lot of hormones that made her frequently feel irritated. 'This girl has gone from a bit of a b***h to don't come near me,' she quipped. 'Up until week eight, I was smooth sailing. No good aversions, no sickness, so much energy, I was like what is every talking about this is unbelievable. 'Week eight hit and everyone's starting to grate to me a bit. Like that man sat next to me on the plane breathing, like is it illegal if I punch him in the face? 'If you're a fan of the podcast, I love you so much but you're not going to like me if you meet me at the moment.' Jamie said he struggled to get his head around Sophie's mood changes with pregnancy, recalling: 'I asked Sophie if she had any cravings and she said, ''No, the only craving I have is hating you''. 'I then spent an evening on Reddit looking at 'Why does your wife hate her husband so much when they're pregnant'. He went on: 'Sophie is teaching me to drive and I'm a little bit nervous in the car and she goes 'You're a s**t driver'. I'm literally in my head going 'Oh my god she hasn't eaten this is really scary'. 'Sophie then gets so angry she says to me 'I'm so angry I want to drive us both into the back of this car and kill us'. And then she started crying!' Sophie confessed that the 'anger is uncontrollable' but that it 'was very fleeting' as she lamented how her 'enormous t*ts' also meant she couldn't fit in any of her clothes. Jamie candidly told listeners how he owed her a real apology after not taking her hormones seriously and threatening to leave her over her 'grumpiness'. Sophie said: 'Jamie was like 'Oh you're just milking it, you fake all your hormones, there's no such thing'. He went 'Oh you're just faking all of this.' I was like 'Oh my god' as I'm lying there with my enormous t*ts out and I can't fit into a single thing.' Recalling the incident in question, she went on: 'We are leaving and I feel really sick this day and Jamie gets his camera out and goes 'I'm going to vlog today'. Like on my Sunday that I'm about to vomit all day long. 'And what happened was Jamie sits down and he goes 'I'm going to call my friends and ask them what I should do about this. Because I'm going to have to leave you. I'm going to leave you because you're just so unbearable right now.'' Jokingly pretending to break down in tears, she shared: 'And I went 'You're going to leave me and I'm pregnant'.' In defence of his actions, Jamie quickly added: 'The amount of people who are going to call me an a*****e. Just a caveat to add - I had no idea the emotional journey that you go on, how your body changes. 'I just didn't understand the extreme things that go on and since having read stuff on Instagram, I am awe of what you go through. The hormone change is wild.' Showing their Chelsea roots, the couple also revealed that Sophie's worst craving so far was for caviar, recounting how they had dashed around London trying to find a shop that was open at 8pm. Jamie explained they eventually found a caviar store only to discover a single pot cost £240, as he declared: 'I was like 'Well that craving has to stop there and then'. Sophie revealed that after some Googling, she learned it is recommended that pregnant people avoid the expensive delicacy due to the risks of bacteria and mercury. However, she confessed that the risks were the only thing that stopped her from eating it, otherwise, she would not have allowed the hefty price tag to put her off.

BBC bosses are 'questioned over difference in treatment' between John Torode and Jamie Borthwick after both used 'offensive language'

BBC bosses are reportedly facing questions over the difference in treatment John Torode and Jamie Borthwick after both used 'offensive language'. The MasterChef star, 59, has been sacked after allegedly 'used the N-word twice while singing along to a Kanye West song'. Meanwhile the EastEnders actor, 31, who has played Jay Brown for 19 years, was suspended by the BBC in June after he used a slur aimed at disabled people on the set of Strictly. But according to The Sun, bosses at the BBC are being questioned over a disparity in how both situations have been handled - with one star sacked and the other suspended. A source said: 'The difference in treatment between John and Jamie - for very similar incidents - has left questions to be answered. 'The BBC have tied themselves into knots with this - for them both stars appear to have used unacceptable and offensive language but only one has been sacked while another has kept his lucrative salary and got away with just a suspension.' 'Disabled colleagues have been left wondering why incidents of ableist slurs seemingly aren't being taken as seriously as racist language and there are no clear answers coming from bosses,' the source added. A spokesperson for the BBC told MailOnline: 'Whilst we do not comment on any individual matter, each case is always considered on its own facts. 'We are very clear on our expectations that inappropriate behaviour and language will not be tolerated.' A video obtained by The Sun in June, showed soap actor Jamie using the term 'm********s' to describe residents of Blackpool where the show was being filmed at the time. He was reportedly backstage during rehearsals with Wynne Evans who could be heard saying 'Oh my God' when he made the remark. He has since issued an apology, sharing that he did not fully understand the derogatory nature of the term he used but now that he is aware, he is 'deeply embarrassed'. The Sun reported at the time that Jamie told a former partner how it was 'not clear' if he would return to EastEnders and quoted him as saying: 'I accept the karma that has come my way due to some bad choices.' It continued that Jamie told how he was now 'attempting to write the wrongs in my life'. He added he wanted to 'sincerely apologise for the mistakes I made and for hurting you and how I handled the whole situation'. It comes after new reports claimed on Friday that the BBC sacked chef John after he allegedly 'used the N-word twice while singing along to a Kanye West song'. John was reportedly singing the rapper's hit Gold Digger when he was allegedly 'caught using the racist term during after work drinks six or seven years ago'. The Sun claims John used the word again whilst chatting to a friend on the MasterChef production team, who didn't take offence. The Australian-born chef has insisted 'he had absolutely no recollection' of using a racist term while drinking with colleagues seven years ago. The person who raised the complaint is understood to have 'overheard the conversation'. The production pal allegedly backed John and said he only used the racial slur as an 'example' and 'apologised afterwards'. MailOnline contacted BBC and Torode's representatives for comment. A witness told investigators he had apologised immediately, 'was mortified' and 'didn't use the term as a slur' in 2018. The BBC said on Tuesday that Torode's contract would not be renewed after a report found he had used an 'extremely offensive racist term' during an evening out after filming the show. The corporation has refused to say what the racist term was - as has Torode, who has claimed he did 'not believe that it happened'. But it was described as the 'worst racial slur there is' by Richard Osman, who added of the investigation: 'They found that to be substantively true. They found evidence that they were happy with - that that was true.'
