DAVID ANCELOTTI has emerged as a serious contender to become the next Rangers manager.
While the 35-year old himself is a rather unknown quantity to many, what about the man he could take to Ibrox as his assistant?

Ancelotti, son of iconic manager Carlo, dramatically entered the conversation last night.
Reports from Italy and Spain even went as far of suggesting he was on the brink of taking over as Rangers boss.
He's worked alongside his legendary father at PSG, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid across the past decade and beyond.
Ancelotti Sr will leave Real at the end of the season to take over the Brazil national team but Ancelotti Jr looks set to break out and become a manager in his own right for the first time.
He'd previously been linked to the Leeds job before Daniel Farke's position was confirmed as secure, while he was also seen as a contender to take over at Serie A side Como.
However, despite strong links to Bayer Leverkusen, Cesc Fabregas will be staying at Como.
Spanish outlet AS was first to claim that Ancelotti Jr was 'close' to the Rangers job.
They also say that going with him as his assistant will be Francesco Mauri.
Like Davide Ancelotti, Mauri is a young coach at 36 years of age.
He's been a key lieutenant of Carlo Ancelotti since joining him at PSG way back in 2012.
Carlo Ancelotti shows his disappointment as Real Madrid crashes out of Champions League to Arsenal
Having been a fitness coach during Ancelotti Sr's previous spell at Real Madrid, he performed the same role at Bayern Munich.
Mauri began to take on more influence at Napoli and in recent years has become Real's set-piece specialist.
His expertise on set-pieces was seen as a crucial factor to Real Madrid regaining the La Liga title last season.
AS previously analysed Mauri's impact in depth and noted that at every set-piece situation, it was he and not Carlo Ancelotti who "could be seen pulling the strings from the visitors' dugout."
His touchline demeanour has seen him compared to a conductor on occasions.
It was noted that Mauri had become a "major influence" in the first team set-up.
He was praised for the corner routine that saw Dani Carvajal head Real in front in their Champions League Final victory over Borussia Dortmund a year ago.
Mauri's coaching journey is very much similar to Davide Ancelotti, in the sense that they both started as fitness coaches under Carlo in 2012.
They both progressed at a similar pace, joining Carlo at every club across the past 13 years.
Another similarity is that Mauri's father is also a highly respected football coach.
Unlike Carlo Ancelotti, Giovanni Mauri never became a manager but was a key right hand man for the legendary Italian for many, many years.
Mauri Sr worked as a fitness coach at Parma, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

His last role alongside the Italian came at Bayern between 2016 and 2017.
Jude Bellingham also praised Mauri's input in a memorable Federico Valverde goal in a win over Villarreal last year.
From a free-kick, Luka Modric sent the ball into what appeared to be the path of Bellingham to take a shot, but he instead side-stepped it and Valverde struck the ball into the net.
England ace Bellingham revealed that despite how it might have looked, it certainly wasn't anything off the cuff and was something that had been practised in training under Mauri.

Robin Propper on the Rangers dressing room 'difference' that he instantly found after Twente return

The Dutch defender now appreciates what new signings from abroad must feel when they arrive in the Netherlands Robin Propper has hinted that the Rangers dressing didn't have the team spirit he was expecting and now knows exactly how foreign imports feel when arriving in Holland. ‌ The Dutchman lasted a year at Ibrox before returning to the Netherlands and his previous club this week. ‌ The centre back won't go down as one of the better pieces of business done by the Glasgow giants after Philippe Clement drafted him in last August. ‌ He was given a run out during pre-season by Russell Martin but the writing was on the wall after the new boss signed Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez to play in the same position, and an offer was accepted from Twente. And he seemed to suggest that the Gers dressing room wasn't exactly big on ensuring new faces from overseas were fully integrated, and it's made him appreciate the team spirit that exists in Enschede. "It was an eye-opener for me," Propper told the club's YouTube channel. "I wasn't aware of how foreign boys feel when they come to the Netherlands (before Rangers). I think they need attention and time. ‌ "You have to be constantly involved within the team. I have noticed that abroad it is different. "The team spirit here at Twente is so strong. That has been a huge strength at Twente. I realise now that it has to be kept in check. You have to invest in that. "You have to involve all the boys. That is one thing I want to take with me to the future." ‌ Propper's exit dragged on as he negotiated with Rangers over the terms of his departure with a year still left on his deal. But he insisted he enjoyed "beautiful moments' in light blue and is glad he had his year in Govan. ‌ Propper added: 'It was a long wait. I wanted to know how it would go with Rangers. A lot happened there and I wanted to see how it went. 'I did pre-season and I played matches there. I don't think I missed much in terms of fitness 'Of course I want to say that I had a great adventure at a beautiful club with a rich history. I always wanted that in my career. I think I want to look at a different mirror after a while. ‌ 'I can say that I have done that now. It felt really good to come back to the club where I really wanted to be - where I felt at home. The first two days I immediately felt the feeling. 'In a year you experience a lot. I have noticed that now. In a foreign country, certain things are different. I'm glad that I was able to experience that. 'I played a lot of games. I had a lot of beautiful moments. Also a little less. In a year like this you experience so many things. 'You have to experience that in your career. The way you deal with other people, you learn from that. I am very happy that I was able to do that."

Jubilant scenes as Lionesses keep Euros dream alive with second-half equaliser

Arsenal striker Alessia Russo rose highest to divert Chloe Kelly's cross past Cata Coll in the Spanish goal in the 57th minute – sending Lionesses supporters into raptures. England fans had watched on nervously as they once again found themselves behind in a crucial Euros tie. Fans draped in England flags joined the Prince of Wales and his daughter Princess Charlotte in holding their heads in their hands as Mariona Caldentey put Spain 1-0 up in the final on Sunday. A nervous atmosphere transformed into a jubilant one at Boxpark Croydon as Russo's header found the net, with England flags being waved and supporters hugging each other during the celebrations. At the final whistle, fans of the Lionesses appeared confident as they started dancing and cheering as the match went into extra time. William and Charlotte were pictured in Switzerland for the Euros final as the royal family led the nation in wishing good luck to England's Lionesses. Shortly before kick-off, an image of the pair was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales's X account with the caption 'let's go, Lionesses'. As Caldentey's header found the net in the 25th minute, William and Charlotte were pictured with their heads in their hands and crowds in fan zones across England fell silent as they watched proceedings. Before kick-off, supporters waved England flags and loudly sang the national anthem at Boxpark Croydon and star striker Michelle Agyemang's former team, Brandon Groves Community Club in Essex. Agyemang, 19, who had one England cap before the tournament, scored crucial equalisers in the Lionesses' quarter-final and semi-final comebacks. Ahead of the game, 11-year-old Violet Ingram, a left winger for Brandon Grove Emeralds, said: 'Seeing her (Agyemang) and the team just makes me feel like I can do anything I want to do.' Lionesses fans stood on their feet while some children said 'come on England' after Russo's header put England on level terms. The Prince of Wales, who is patron of the Football Association (FA), applauded the national anthem as he stood next to Charlotte in the stadium. In a show of support ahead of the final, the Band of the Grenadier Guards performed Three Lions on the Buckingham Palace forecourt, while the royal family's official X account posted: 'Wishing the very best of luck to the @Lionesses in the Women's Euro Final this evening.' Let's go girls!! 💪🦁⚽️ Wishing the very best of luck to the @Lionesses in the Women's Euro Final this evening. — The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) July 27, 2025 Meanwhile, BBC Sport and ITV have secured the broadcasting rights for the Women's World Cup 2027, meaning the tournament will remain free-to-air for UK viewers. England's path to the final has been marked by late drama. They sealed their spot with a last-gasp extra-time win over Italy, following a penalty shootout victory against Sweden in the quarter-finals after nearly crashing out in extra time. The Lionesses will be looking for redemption against Spain, who edged them 1-0 in the 2023 Women's World Cup final. England boss Sarina Wiegman said the team is 'going to do everything we can to win it' and she would prefer to avoid a 'nerve-wracking' match.
