Video from MS Dhoni's low-key 44th birthday celebrations goes viral
A video has been doing the rounds on the internet in which Dhoni can be seen cutting his birthday cake in the presence of his JSCA stadium staff in Ranchi. Captain Cool was all smiles.

Lauded for his calmness under pressure and his tactical excellence, Dhoni has made a name for himself. He has given back to his country and the city of Ranchi, everything it could have asked him for.
Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 and now plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL),
With 17,266 international runs, 829 dismissals and 538 matches across formats for India, Dhoni is widely respected.
Apart from his sharp wicket-keeping skills, Dhoni pushed the envelope, contributing valuable runs. He formed a formidable middle-order with Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina.
Dhoni's strongest format is the ODIs. In 350 ODIs, he scored 10,773 runs at an average of 50.57.
He scored 10 centuries and 73 fifties for India, with the best score of 183*. He is India's sixth-highest scorer in ODIs (with Sachin Tendulkar at the top with 18,426 runs).
The fact that he managed to score 10,000-plus runs at an average of over 50 while coming down the order makes his statistics even more astonishing.
He led India in 200 ODI matches, winning 110, losing 74. Five games were tied, while 11 failed to produce a result. He has a winning percentage of 55. Dhoni has won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013 for India as a skipper.
Dhoni, known as Chennai Super Kings' 'Thala' (leader), played 98 T20Is for India, scoring 1,617 runs at an average of 37.60, at a strike rate of 126.13. He has two half-centuries in the format, with the best score of 56. He was the winning captain of India's ICC T20 WC 2007 winning team. 'Mahi' led India in 72 T20Is, winning 41, losing 28, one being tied and two failing to produce results. His win percentage is 56.94.
Coming to his long-format career, Dhoni played 90 matches, scoring 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09. He scored six centuries and 33 half-centuries, with the best score of 224. He is the 14th-highest scorer for India in Tests.
As a captain, he led India in 60 Test matches, out of which they won 27 matches, lost 18 and drew 15. With a win percentage of 45.00, he is one of India's most successful skippers across all eras. He led Team India to the number one ranking in the ICC Test Rankings.
He is also the only Indian skipper to whitewash Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, doing so in the 2010-11 and 2012-13 series.
Dhoni is just as reputable in franchise cricket, being the sixth-highest run-getter in IPL history, with 5,439 runs in 278 matches at an average of 38.30, including 24 fifties, at a strike rate of over 137.
He has secured five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles with CSK, making the franchise one of the most popular entities in the sporting world, largely on the basis of his own brand and name. Crowds follow and different fan clubs chant 'Dhoni' 'Dhoni' in unison when the batting legend makes even as much as an appearance inside his dressing room, gearing up for a possible chance at batting.
When Dhoni broke into the national team in 2004, nobody could have imagined the heights the then-23-year-old would go on to achieve as a wicketkeeper-batter. His quickfire stumping and catching abilities, massive sixes, and the trademark helicopter shot will no doubt stay fan favourites for generations to come. (ANI)

Sourav Ganguly is widely regarded as one of India's most successful and influential cricket captains. He assumed captaincy in 2000 and led the national side in 49 Tests and 146 One-Day Internationals, securing 21 and 76 victories, respectively. Under his captaincy, India began to achieve significant success overseas in Test cricket and mounted an impressive campaign that culminated in reaching the ICC Cricket World Cup final in 2003. Most importantly, Ganguly under his captaincy, gave opportunity and backed a large pool of talented players, who became big match-winners for India. Ganguly holds several notable achievements; He became only the eighth Indian player with over 7,000 runs in Tests and also the ninth-highest centurion in the format for India with 16 tons under his belt. He is one of only eight Indian players to have scored over 7,000 runs in Test cricket and ranks as the ninth-highest century-maker for India in the format, with 16 centuries to his name. In One-Day Internationals, he stands as the eighth-highest run-scorer globally and is among a 14 players to have crossed the 10,000-run milestone. Renowned for rising to the occasion in major ICC tournaments, Ganguly holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in a World Cup match (183 in 1999 against Sri Lanka). He also became the first player to score three centuries in a single World Cup edition (2003) and achieved three overall in the ICC Champions Trophy (2000 and 2002). Following his retirement from international cricket, Ganguly transitioned seamlessly into cricket administration. After serving as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal from 2015 to 2019, he was unanimously elected as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and took very key decisions during his tenure from 2019 to 2022

Ghaziabad Police To Record Victim's Statement After Yash Dayal Booked For Sexual Exploitation
Last Updated: The Ghaziabad are set to record the statement of woman who has made serious allegations against cricketer Yash Dayal. The Ghaziabad police is set to record the statement of the woman who has leveled serious allegations against cricketer Yash Dayal. The statement will be taken in front of a magistrate after the woman accused Dayal of 'emotionally, mentally, and physically" exploiting her on the false pretext of marriage. Following the statement, medical examination of the victim will be done. As per sources, the woman has submitted electronic evidence against Dayal, which the police are now in the process of verifying. Officials close to the investigation have stated that no action will be taken until the victim's statement is officially recorded in court. An FIR has been filed against Dayal under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Dayal, who plays domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh and was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL-winning squad earlier this year, could be in serious trouble as the section under which he has been booked is a non-bailable offence with a maximum sentence of 10 years and a provision for immediate arrest. The woman is said to have called the women's helpline to report her allegations but with no progress, she then filed a complaint through Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's online grievance portal (IGRS), submitting evidence that included chat records, screenshots, video call recordings, and photographs. Dayal has also reportedly recorded his statement before the police. What Is Section 69 of BNS? Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertains to sexual acts committed on the basis of deceitful promises (such as false assurances of marriage). The 27-year-old Dayal is a left-arm fast bowler who plays domestic cricket for UP and represents RCB in IPL. He has played 27 first-class matches, 23 List A games, and 71 T20s. He was earlier associated with the Gujarat Titans before being signed by RCB. He has also been part of India's Test and T20I squads in the past but is yet to play international cricket. What Are The Allegations Against Yash Dayal? As per the allegations, the woman claims she was in a relationship with Dayal for five years during which the cricketer exploited her under the false promise of marriage. She claimed he introduced her to his family and was assured she would become their daughter-in-law. 'For the past 5 years, the complainant had been in a relationship with a cricketer," reads the FIR statement. 'The man emotionally, mentally, and physically exploited her by misleading her with the promise of marriage. He introduced the complainant to his family and behaved like a husband, which made her trust him completely. When the complainant realized the deception and protested, she was subjected to physical violence and mental harassment." First Published: July 08, 2025, 09:49 IST
