Charlie Woods, son of Tiger woods, secures 1st major win, soars from 604 to 14 in world rankings

Tiger Woods
claimed his first major win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in Florida, announcing his arrival not just as a Woods, but as a serious competitor in junior golf.
Charlie finished the tournament at 15-under par. Over three days at Streamsong Resort's Black Course, he played with steady confidence ,opening with a two-under 70, then firing a 7-under 65 on day two. On the final day, Charlie sealed his victory with a 6-under 66, winning by three strokes over a field packed with the world's best amateurs, including Miles Russell, Luke Colton, and Tyler Watts.
'I didn't look at the leaderboard once today,' Charlie said, speaking to ClutchPoints after the win.
'On the fairway after hitting the green on 18, he's [my caddie] like, 'you make par here, you're going to be fine.' I guess that helped me out a little bit.'
This victory vaulted Charlie from #604 to #14 in the world amateur rankings, and it wasn't just any field he beat ,he finished ahead of four of the top five-ranked amateurs in the world.
Charlie's path hasn't always been smooth. Earlier this year, he placed 25th at the Sage Valley Junior Invitational and failed to qualify for the U.S.

AI robots play football matches in China, show off skills, and take a few falls
There's a lot that has been done using artificial intelligence, including chatbots and agentic AI. But now, AI-powered robots have been used to play an actual football match. Yes, this is exactly what has happened in Beijing, wherein four teams of humanoid robots participated in 3-on-3 football matches on Saturday night. This was reportedly a preview of what is to come at the World Humanoid Robot Games, expected soon in Beijing, AP reported. Well, firstly, they would need sensors and hardware capable enough to navigate their weight through the field, and this is exactly what the case is in this instance as well. These robots had advanced visual sensors, and they could identify the ball and go through the field accordingly, the report added. Further, the robots are also able to stand on their own if they accidentally do fall, just like real-life players do. But not all was smooth sailing for the humanoid robots involved in this game, as many had to be carried off the field, t As for the final match, Tsinghua University's THU Robotics actually ended up defeating China Agricultural University's Mountain Sea Team in a score that was, at the end of the match, 5 to 3, and they did end up winning the championship. But for this, safety would be a great priority, Cheng Hao, founder and CEO of Booster Robotics, who provided the hardware for the competition, said. He said that in the future, "we may arrange for robots to play football with humans. That means we must ensure the robots are completely safe." He added, 'For example, a robot and a human could play a match where winning doesn't matter, but real offensive and defensive interactions take place. Hart, who rose to prominence as a standout netminder for Canada Junior team and later the Philadelphia Flyers, saw his professional trajectory abruptly halted as the investigation unfolded. Prior to the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Hart was widely regarded as one of the top goaltending prospects. The Flyers selected Hart 48th overall in the second round, making him the first goaltender taken in that year's draft. He went on to sign an entry-level contract with the Flyers on October 2, marking the beginning of what was expected to be a promising NHL career. Alex Formenton Formenton, a dynamic left winger, rose to prominence when he was selected 47th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Invited to Ottawa's main training camp that same year, Formenton impressed the organization and was soon signed to a three-year entry-level contract. He made his NHL debut on October 7, 2017, becoming the youngest player to appear in a game for the modern Senators franchise. Formenton earned a regular roster spot in the 2018-19 season and scored his first NHL goal in a game against the Arizona Coyotes. Over three seasons with Ottawa, he established himself as a reliable two-way forward, particularly excelling as a penalty killer. His breakout campaign came in 2021-22, when he posted 18 goals and 32 points across 79 games. However, Formenton's NHL career stalled after the Senators declined to re-sign him following that season. Left unsigned, he became ineligible to play in the 2022-23 NHL season. I In December 2022, he signed with Swiss club HC Ambrì-Piotta, though the team later announced his contract would be reviewed pending the outcome of an investigation into the alleged 2018 Hockey Canada sexual assault incident. He later signed a two-month contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta ahead of the 2023-24 season that ended in December 2023. In January 2024, he was officially charged with one count of sexual assault related to the incident. With his hockey future uncertain, Formenton stepped away from the sport entirely in 2025, and began working in construction in his hometown.

Aniket Verma was brilliant in his first season in the IPL where he scored 236 runs in 14 games with an average of over 27. His best performance was in his second game when he played a scorching 74 against Delhi Capitals in his third match. The capability to counter the spin bowling is one of the most remarkable features of Aniket. He was the quickest to hit 12 sixes in an IPL match as he did it in 66 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad have taken a core-based approach on the auction, in the two preceding seasons. SRH has a core of players like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Pat Cummins at the center of its setup, so it will not be keen on experimentation in its quest to be successful. Aniket is not a part of this core group and hence may not be part of their long term retention strategy. Aniket has proved to be susceptible to pace even though he plays destructively against spin. When the pinch-hitter is likely to face any form of bowling, particularly at the death overs, then his limited use of this single strength may prove a factor. Aniket was signed only at Rs 30 lakh during his first season, and may now be hoping to get a release and re-enter the auction pool hoping of getting a higher bid. His performances and the hype that he has generated could be something that franchises are considering, particularly those who have a vacancy in their lower-order needing powerful stroke play, especially against spin bowling. However, despite the fact that SRH did not qualify for the playoffs, the franchise is not expected to drastically change. Their general approach appears to be somewhat successful, although slight changes such as removal of flat dimensional players in favor of more multipotent ones might be around the corner. Aniket may just be another victim of this strategic tweaking, particularly when he fails to broaden his scope on the fast bowling.
