Has Resideo Technologies, Inc.'s (NYSE:REZI) Impressive Stock Performance Got Anything to Do With Its Fundamentals?

Resideo Technologies' (NYSE:REZI) stock is up by a considerable 54% over the past three months. We wonder if and what role the company's financials play in that price change as a company's long-term fundamentals usually dictate market outcomes. In this article, we decided to focus on Resideo Technologies' ROE. Return on equity or ROE is a key measure used to assess how efficiently a company's management is utilizing the company's capital. In simpler terms, it measures the profitability of a company in relation to shareholder's equity. This technology could replace computers: discover the 20 stocks are working to make quantum computing a reality. The formula for ROE is: Return on Equity = Net Profit (from continuing operations) ÷ Shareholders' Equity So, based on the above formula, the ROE for Resideo Technologies is: 2.4% = US$79m ÷ US$3.3b (Based on the trailing twelve months to March 2025). The 'return' is the profit over the last twelve months. Another way to think of that is that for every $1 worth of equity, the company was able to earn $0.02 in profit. Check out our latest analysis for Resideo Technologies So far, we've learned that ROE is a measure of a company's profitability. We now need to evaluate how much profit the company reinvests or "retains" for future growth which then gives us an idea about the growth potential of the company. Assuming all else is equal, companies that have both a higher return on equity and higher profit retention are usually the ones that have a higher growth rate when compared to companies that don't have the same features. As you can see, Resideo Technologies' ROE looks pretty weak. Not just that, even compared to the industry average of 13%, the company's ROE is entirely unremarkable. Resideo Technologies was still able to see a decent net income growth of 14% over the past five years. Therefore, the growth in earnings could probably have been caused by other variables. Such as - high earnings retention or an efficient management in place. Next, on comparing Resideo Technologies' net income growth with the industry, we found that the company's reported growth is similar to the industry average growth rate of 15% over the last few years. Earnings growth is an important metric to consider when valuing a stock. It's important for an investor to know whether the market has priced in the company's expected earnings growth (or decline). By doing so, they will have an idea if the stock is headed into clear blue waters or if swampy waters await. Is REZI fairly valued? This infographic on the company's intrinsic value has everything you need to know. Resideo Technologies doesn't pay any regular dividends, meaning that all of its profits are being reinvested in the business, which explains the fair bit of earnings growth the company has seen. In total, it does look like Resideo Technologies has some positive aspects to its business. Despite its low rate of return, the fact that the company reinvests a very high portion of its profits into its business, no doubt contributed to its high earnings growth. Is Now The Time To Look At Buying Herc Holdings Inc. (NYSE:HRI)?

While Herc Holdings Inc. (NYSE:HRI) might not have the largest market cap around , it led the NYSE gainers with a relatively large price hike in the past couple of weeks. Shareholders may appreciate the recent price jump, but the company still has a way to go before reaching its yearly highs again. As a well-established company, which tends to be well-covered by analysts, you could assume any recent changes in the company's outlook is already priced into the stock. But what if there is still an opportunity to buy? Today we will analyse the most recent data on Herc Holdings's outlook and valuation to see if the opportunity still exists. AI is about to change healthcare. These 20 stocks are working on everything from early diagnostics to drug discovery. The best part - they are all under $10bn in marketcap - there is still time to get in early. Herc Holdings appears to be overvalued by 24% at the moment, based on our discounted cash flow valuation. The stock is currently priced at US$145 on the market compared to our intrinsic value of $116.96. This means that the opportunity to buy Herc Holdings at a good price has disappeared! If you like the stock, you may want to keep an eye out for a potential price decline in the future. Since Herc Holdings's share price is quite volatile, this could mean it can sink lower (or rise even further) in the future, giving us another chance to invest. This is based on its high beta, which is a good indicator for how much the stock moves relative to the rest of the market. Check out our latest analysis for Herc Holdings Future outlook is an important aspect when you're looking at buying a stock, especially if you are an investor looking for growth in your portfolio. Buying a great company with a robust outlook at a cheap price is always a good investment, so let's also take a look at the company's future expectations. With profit expected to more than double over the next couple of years, the future seems bright for Herc Holdings. It looks like higher cash flow is on the cards for the stock, which should feed into a higher share valuation. Are you a shareholder? HRI's optimistic future growth appears to have been factored into the current share price, with shares trading above its fair value. At this current price, shareholders may be asking a different question – should I sell? If you believe HRI should trade below its current price, selling high and buying it back up again when its price falls towards its real value can be profitable. But before you make this decision, take a look at whether its fundamentals have changed. Are you a potential investor? If you've been keeping tabs on HRI for some time, now may not be the best time to enter into the stock. The price has surpassed its true value, which means there's no upside from mispricing. However, the optimistic prospect is encouraging for HRI, which means it's worth diving deeper into other factors in order to take advantage of the next price drop. So while earnings quality is important, it's equally important to consider the risks facing Herc Holdings at this point in time. Every company has risks, and we've spotted 3 warning signs for Herc Holdings (of which 1 doesn't sit too well with us!) you should know about.
