Windass looks forward to Hardie reunion at Wrexham AFC

Windass, who has signed a three-year deal with the Reds, was alongside another Wrexham player during the part of his career when he was with Scottish giants Rangers. Windass told the club's YouTube channel: 'Ryan Hardie was in the Rangers youth team when I was playing there. 'So, he came up through the youths and, obviously, I've been in the changing room with him before and, yeah, he's a nice guy. So, I'm looking forward to seeing him again.' Windass was at Ibrox between 2016 and 2018, scoring 13 league goals in 55 appearances. During the 2017-18 campaign, he finished as the club's joint-top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions. Hardie, who signed for Wrexham from Plymouth Argyle earlier this summer, was with Rangers between 2014 and 2019, making 13 league appearances during his time there. Windass and Hardie are two of six new additions Reds' boss Phil Parkinson has secured this summer. Other new signings are Welsh international goalkeeper Danny Ward, New Zealander Liberato Cacace, from Empoli, former Bolton Wanderers captain George Thomason and midfielder Lewis O'Brien, who arrived for an undisclosed fee from Nottingham Forest last week. Windass - the son of former Hull City striker Dean - was a free agent after his contract at troubled Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday was terminated by mutual consent. On his targets with Wrexham, Windass added: 'First and foremost, get in the team. Get the respect of my team-mates straight away. 'Be professional, be someone to look up to and then, obviously, in terms of the team, get as high up the league as possible and carry on the success that the club has been having.' On his message to the fans, Windass said: 'Just, obviously, I've seen loads of comments already off, obviously, the rumours and stuff like that, and just thank-you for all the messages and I can't wait to wear the badge.' The Reds are preparing for a first campaign in the second tier for more than four decades and they begin the season away to Southampton, relegated from the Premier League, on Saturday, August 9.

Alisson leaves Liverpool's tour of Asia due to ‘personal matter' and will not return until Slot's men are back in UK

LIVERPOOL goalkeeper Alisson Becker has left the club's pre-season tour of Asia for a personal matter. The Brazil international wasn't involved in Tuesday's open training session held at JFA Dream Field in Tokyo in sweltering conditions. It was later revealed that Alisson has been given permission by Liverpool to leave Japan immediately. That means he won't feature in Wednesday's final match against Yokohama F Marinos at Nissan Stadium. The 32-year-old will rejoin Arne Slot's squad after their return to the UK. Summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili, who arrived from Valencia, is expected to start Wednesday against the J1 League strugglers. Slot still has plenty of cover, with goalkeepers Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi and Kornel Misciur also on the tour. Luis Diaz, 28, left a few days ago to complete his transfer to Bayern Munich. And Defender Joe Gomez flew home last week because of an Achilles injury and is undergoing further tests in Merseyside. Liverpool arrived in Tokyo on Sunday following a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong.

Wrexham eye Sheffield United's Wales striker Moore

Wales forward Kieffer Moore is among a number of players Wrexham are interested in, manager Phil Parkinson has 32, joined Sheffield United on a three-year deal in July 2024 and scored five goals in 28 Championship appearances for the Blades last promoted back to the second tier of English football for the first time in 44 years, have been linked with the 49-times capped international."Kieffer's under contract at Sheffield United. He's one of a number of players we've looked at over the summer," Parkinson said."Like I said, the landscape changes in the transfer market very quickly from one week to the next."We're looking at lots of options here and abroad." Wrexham have signed goalkeeper Danny Ward, forward Ryan Hardie, defender Liberato Cacace, midfielders George Thomason and Lewis O'Brien and forward Josh Windass during the close said the club have had dialogue over the idea of signing Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, but it "had not gone further".The Wrexham boss is still hoping to add to his squad before their Championship opener at Southampton on Saturday, 9 August."Obviously in an ideal world you want all your signers in prior to pre-season to work with," Parkinson told BBC Sport Wales."But it just doesn't work like that. People sometimes say, why doesn't it?"It's just a variety of reasons - clubs don't want to sell players, competition for players, negotiations over transfer fee or wages."Of course, ideally, we'd like to make a couple more additions. Is that going to happen before the start of the season? It's difficult to say."But the most important thing is by the end of August we've got a squad in here which we feel can compete.
