Oleksandr Usyk leaves Daniel Dubois baffled with four-word press conference message

Oleksandr Usyk left Daniel Dubois and his team baffled with one comment at the final press conference before their rematch at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Usyk interrupted Dubois' head coach, Don Charles, to repeat a four-word message that left everybody perplexed. Usyk said: 'Don't push the horses…don't push the horses.' Charles, visibly confused, said that he needed a translator while Dubois sat speechless. What Usyk actually meant is uncertain, as he grinned from ear to ear after briefly disrupting proceedings. Usyk's bizarre message came after a tense exchange between Charles and the Ukrainian's manager, Egis Klimas. Charles accused Klimas, of being 'asleep' while his fighter beat Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, after Klimas claimed Dubois had not improved since his first fight with Usyk. Charles said: 'We know what we have done, we know what we have been witnessing, he must have been sleeping for the last three fights Daniel has had, he must have been fast asleep, can someone please wake him up?' Klimas had a quick retort to Charles, saying that while he was 'asleep', Usyk also beat Tyson Fury twice. Frustrated by Klimas, Charles told him that Fury was not here to defend himself and that they needed to keep their focus on the man in front of them, saying that this was a Daniel Dubois show. Charles replied: 'Tyson's not here to defend himself. Keep your eye on the Job. This is a Daniel Dubois show. So let's stick to that.' Usyk appeared to take offence to Charles' unwavering confidence in his man as he called on the trainer to settle down in his own unique way ahead of what promises to be an explosive weekend of heavyweight action. Top English women's clubs to allow alcohol in trial

July 24 (Reuters) - Banned for decades at men's games in England to curb hooliganism, alcohol will be allowed in the stands for seven Women's Super League clubs during the 2025-26 season as a trial. The burgeoning women's game in England has proved a far more family-friendly experience than men's football, where foul language is common and violence often flared in past decades, leading to a 1985 ban on alcohol in view of the pitch. For the upcoming season, fans at the stadiums of top-tier women's clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, London City Lionesses, Manchester City and Manchester United can consume alcohol, the WSL said on Thursday. The women's game is not covered by the 1985 legislation. The trial began last year at 19 fixtures of four second-tier WSL2 clubs involving 51,000 supporters. Two thirds of fans were in favour, with 84% rating their safety between nine and 10 out of 10, the WSL said. "Players and match officials noted no change to fan behaviour, while average expenditure by fans at stadiums, with regards to food and drink, increased across the fixtures, alongside a growth in attendances," it said. As well as underlining the cleaner atmosphere at women's games, the decision is a nod to the success of in-seat drinking at the 2025 Women's European Championship. The 2025-26 WSL begins on September 6.

Championship difficult but QPR can succeed

Queens Park Rangers must focus on their own strategy rather than the big-spending clubs around them, but they can still enjoy success this season says chief executive officer Christian Rs have awarded new contracts to core first-team players Jonathan Varane, Sam Field and Jimmy Dunne, who was named club captain earlier this month, as well as emerging talents Rayan Kolli and Kieran boss Marti Cifuentes has moved to Leicester City and has been replaced by Julien Stephan, while players including Amadou Mbengue and Kealey Adamson from Reading and Sydney-based Macarthur, as well as winger Kwame Poku from Peterborough United have come in."What we have taken a conscious decision to attempt to achieve, in the last 12 months, is to put ourselves in a position where we have a number of core players who commit themselves to the long term for this football club, to start to create an environment where we're all in this journey together," Nourry told BBC Radio London."We've looked to reward young players breaking through and when they had the opportunity, seizing that. "And hopefully also put them in now the best possible positions to succeed and continue to develop, hopefully rapidly as they get more and more and more first team exposure – players like Kieran Morgan, Rayan Kolli and others." QPR finished a turbulent season that saw Cifuentes put on gardening leave after the penultimate game, a 5-0 thrashing at home to Burnley, 15th in the Championship said the club had made progress under Cifuentes, who took over from Gareth Ainsworth in October 2023, and felt the Hoops would continue to improve under former Rennes boss Stephan."I think it's way too early to tell [how well we can do this season]," he said. "I think it's going to be a difficult division. You have teams who have been coming up, who are really, really strong. You have teams that are spending a significantly greater amount of money, responding to that perhaps, than they have ever spent before."So we know that we can only focus on what we do in this building every day to try to maximise the results that we can get with the quality of staff and players that we think is strong, we think is exciting, but is also constantly developing."Ultimately, until the transfer window shuts it's very difficult to know where we might match up but I know that we're going to have 1,000% commitment and I believe very, very strongly in everyone in this building that if we stick together, work hard, we can have success this season."QPR begin the new Championship season at home to Preston North End on Saturday, 9 August.
