Did any GTA protagonist truly find peace?
(Image via Rockstar Games)
GTA games have never failed to hook players for hours into the story. However, beyond all the action and drama, it's easy to forget that most GTA protagonists just want one thing:
peace
. But if you look closely beyond the body counts and stolen cars, you'll see a common theme: every character is chasing something deeper. So here's the real question… did any of them actually find peace?
1. Carl 'CJ' Johnson
Carl 'CJ' Johnson from
San Andreas
is the definition of rise-from-the-ashes. After losing his mom and returning to a broken Grove Street, CJ builds an empire. By the end, he's got businesses, real estate, respect — but he's also lost friends and family along the way. Sure, he's in control now, but is it
peace
or just dominance with fewer enemies?
Verdict
: Maybe, but at a cost.
What Happened To Tommy Vercetti? (GTA: Vice City)
2.
Tommy Vercetti
Tommy ends
Vice City
on top — literally owning the city. He's untouchable, wealthy, and feared. But peace? Not quite. Tommy lives like a mob boss, always watching his back. We never see him relax, trust anyone fully, or escape the paranoia that comes with power.
Verdict
: Got the throne, not the peace.
3.
Niko Bellic
Niko wanted a fresh start. He ran from a war-torn past and tried to do right by his cousin. But
GTA IV
is one long lesson in pain.
Whether you choose revenge or forgiveness, Niko ends up emotionally shattered. His dreams are crushed, and so is any shot at peace.
Verdict
: Big no.
4.
Michael De Santa
Michael
tried
to retire. The Vinewood mansion, the therapy, the poolside vibes — he wanted peace so bad. But you can't leave the game that easily. After pulling off heists with Franklin and Trevor, he ends up with cash and his family back. It's not perfect, but out of all the protagonists, he
might
have gotten closest.
Verdict
: Closest to peace, but barely hanging on.
How Franklin Clinton Changed... | GTA V Character Analysis
5. Franklin Clinton
Franklin is the only GTA main character who didn't have to lose everything. He climbs up smart, avoids unnecessary beef, and ends with real estate, respect, and (if you choose the right ending) both Michael and Trevor alive. He's not drama-free, but he's the most
stable
.
Verdict
: As close to peaceful as GTA gets.
Peace in GTA is like a 5-star wanted level — everyone wants to escape it, but almost no one does. Most protagonists trade one problem for another. But if anyone got out
kind of
okay, it's Franklin. He played the game smart — and sometimes, that's the only way to win in GTA.

'If I could take that one back': Stephen Curry once shared rare regret about daughter Riley Curry
Image credit: Ayesha Curry/Instagram Stephen Curry was a new dad when he led the Golden State Warriors to victory in the NBA Finals in 2015. At the time, he wanted his two-year-old daughter Riley — now 12—to share in the joy of his success. He loved bringing her to post-game press conferences and letting her play around as he addressed the media from the podium. However, years later, the father of four admitted he regretted giving her the spotlight too soon and too much. Stephen Curry reflects on giving Riley the spotlight Reflecting on that joyous moment when he lifted the NBA Championship trophy in 2015, Curry also recalled the one thing he wishes had gone differently. He acknowledged that Riley shouldn't have been exposed to so much media attention at such a young age — especially when she wasn't fully aware of what was happening around her. In a 2019 interview with The Undefeated, Curry said, 'One thing I do technically regret in terms of how fast this all came is when I brought Riley on the podium. I've always wanted to share what I get to do, and all the experiences I have, with my family. I didn't know how much that would blow up and how much of a splash she [would make] on the scene.' He continued, 'If I could take that one back, I probably would, just because my goal is to give my kids the best chance at success and at seeing the world in the proper way. Trying to give our kids the best chance to be successful and have a normal life in terms of treating people the right way, having respect, not getting too big headed and feeling like everything's about them.' Like her father Stephen Curry, Riley also became a social media star in 2015 NBA fans may remember how Riley quickly became a social media darling, charming the world with her playful antics while sitting on her father's lap during those press conferences. One of her most viral moments was a hilarious bit at the podium where she made faces with her fingers and eyes — a clip that remains one of the most beloved videos from that championship run. Also Read: Stephen Curry's social media post hints at big things for Cooper Flagg Now 12 years old and nearly as tall as her father, Riley plays volleyball at her school. Her mother, Ayesha Curry, occasionally shares glimpses of her practice sessions on social media. Riley is the eldest of the Curry siblings, with a younger sister, Ryan (9), and two younger brothers, Canon (6) and Caius (1). Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story.
