St Patrick's Athletic hit UCC for eight in FAI Cup clash as Longford strike late to sink Castlebar
It took St Pat's, who have lifted the FAI Cup twice in the last four years, just 19 minutes to find the breakthrough through an unfortunate Colm Murphy own-goal, before three strikes in five minutes from Forrester, Aidan Keena and Brandon Kavanagh just before the break firmly put the tie to bed.
Kenny's men raced out of the blocks at the restart with Jake Mulraney finding the net just two minutes after being introduced, while Al-Amin Kazeem and Conor Carty also struck past the men from the Rebel County.
Forrester bagged his second minutes after the hour mark as the Inchicore side eased their way into the third round, with the draw set for Tuesday afternoon.
It may have been one-way traffic at Richmond Park but it certainly wasn't in Mayo, as Longford Town needed three late goals to avoid a shock and book their place in the third round after being pushed hard by non-league Castlebar Celtic, the First Division side eventually emerging with a 6-3 win.
A remarkable first-half saw the sides each score three goals, with Longford's Daragh Murtagh netting a hat-trick while Mark Cunningham, Eoghan Hughes and ex-Sligo Rovers striker Jordan Loftus finding the net for the Connacht outfit.
The tie was heading for extra-time with the score remaining at 3-3 going into the final 15 minutes, but the visitors hit three late goals through a Dean George double either side of Francis Campbell's goal to ensure their name was in the hat for the next round.
Wayne Groves' side have won the FAI Cup just twice in their history, in 2003 and 2004, with their last final appearance coming in 2007.
The victories by St Pat's and Longford meant that every League of Ireland side progressed to the third round of the FAI Cup this weekend.

Shamrock Rovers supporters are still in the getting-to-know-you phase of their relationship with new signing John McGovern, the Newry-born forward who made his full debut for the Hoops in last week's comfortable FAI Cup defeat of Wexford. A bigger test than that comfortable 4-0 win is on the horizon this week as McGovern (22) looks to his first taste of European football, the Hoops away to St Joseph's of Gibraltar in their Europa Conference League second round tie on Thursday (5pm).

Liam Cahill set to be offered extension to Tipperary reign
In no great surprise, Liam Cahill will be offered an extension to remain on as Tipperary senior manager in the coming weeks. Cahill's initial three-year agreement concluded with Sunday's All-Ireland final victory over Cork but there was the option of a one-year extension. After overseeing a spectacular championship success, the Ballingarry man is expected to be invited by the county board to remain in charge beyond 2026 and there is quiet confidence he will agree to remain on. No manager has stayed at the helm of the Tipperary senior hurling team for longer than three seasons since Nicky English from 1999 to 2002. Since then, Liam Sheedy twice, Michael Ryan and Eamon O'Shea have all served three-year stints. Talking before the All-Ireland final, Cahill said he envisaged his strategy extending beyond three years. "For me, it was always going to be a three-year-plus plan, obviously the county board agreed a three-year term initially. 'In fairness to them as well they stood by me, and backed me to do what the vision was to try to bring as many players as possible and a new generation of players as quickly as possible, and as structured as possible without pushing fellas too soon.' Cahill's management team for the past three seasons has been his coach of 10 years Michael Bevans and selectors Declan Laffan and TJ Ryan. Former Kilkenny goalkeeper David Herity moved from goalkeeping coach to assistant coach this season when he replaced ex-Waterford star Tony Browne. In September last year, Brendan Cummins and James Woodlock were reappointed for two further seasons as U20 and minor managers respectively. That came on the back of Cummins leading Tipperary to an U20 All-Ireland final, which they won this year, and Woodlock guiding the minors to All-Ireland success. Meanwhile, almost one million viewers tuned in for RTÉ's live coverage of Sunday's All-Ireland senior hurling final. The average of 980,000 was down on last year's 1,037,000 number although that Clare-Cork game went to extra-time. This year's peak close to the end of Tipperary's victory was 1,119,000 people compared to 1,231,000 although the viewership percentage of 78% (those watching TV at the time) was slightly higher than 2024.

Gavin Bazunu's first-team bid as Southampton travel to Spain for training camp
Gavin Bazunu will resume his bid to win back his place in the Southampton first-team this week in Spain. He is one of three Ireland players to make manager Will Still's squad for the trip, which includes two pre-season friendlies against Spanish opposition. The Saints, who last season were relegated from the Premier League, will take on Segunda Division side CD Castellón on Wednesday, and Espanyol on Saturday. Goalkeeper Bazunu hasn't played competitively for Southampton since a 3-2 win against Watford in April 2024. He has had some minutes already in pre-season. He played in the second-half in a 2-1 win over Eastleigh, and the second of two 60-minute games against Gillingham. Three days after the Watford game, Bazunu ruptured his achilles during the warm-up ahead of the Preston game. The former Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper went on loan to Standard Liege during the January transfer window and played eight games for the Belgian side, before a knee injury cut short his spell there. His new boss Still is familiar with Belgian football. He was born and raised near Brussels and managed Lierse and Bierschot, before working in France with Stade de Reims and Lens. He took over from Ivan Juric, who was only in the role for four months. Bazunu will be eager to get back between the sticks at club level, and push for an international return. The last of his 22 caps to date came in a 1-0 defeat to Switzerland in March 2024. He was back in the squad for the Nations League play-off against Bulgaria in March, but was on the bench as Caoimhin Kelleher held onto the number one spot. The Dubliner's Ireland pals Ryan Manning and Will Smallbone have also travelled for the training camp. Bazunu is one of four goalkeepers in Still's 27-man squad for the training camp, with Alex McCarthy, Dylan Moody and Aaron Ramsdale also aiming to impress in Spain.
