Time of Indiaa day ago
The Nifty traded in a broadly sideways and range-bound manner throughout the previous week and ended the week with a modest decline. The Index oscillated within a narrow 276-point range, between 25144.60 on the higher end and 24918.65 on the lower end, before settling mildly lower.

The Nifty is presently consolidating just below a key resistance zone after attempting a breakout above a rising channel. This zone, between 25100 and 25350, has proven to be a supply area where profit-taking has emerged.
While the broader trend remains intact and the Nifty is above key moving averages, it is still within a complex zone of consolidation. This pause in momentum comes after a sharp up move from the lows near 21743 in April.
Live Events
A strong breakout above the 25265 –25350 zone, with a closing confirmation, may resume the uptrend. Conversely, a sustained move below 24750 could trigger incremental weakness and drag the Nifty towards lower supports.
As we head into the new week, the markets may see a cautious start amid the current range-bound setup. The immediate resistance is at 25150, followed by 25400. On the lower side, the key support zones are placed at 24750 and further near 24380.
The weekly RSI stands at 56.54 and remains neutral without showing any divergence against price. It has made a fresh 14-period low, which is bearish. The MACD remains above its signal line on the weekly chart, continuing to indicate a positive crossover. No significant candlestick formation was observed for the week.
From a pattern analysis perspective, Nifty is trading just below the upper bound of a rising channel that it had briefly broken out of. With the Index slipping below the support levels of 25000-25150, it faces resistance at this zone again, failing to follow through on the breakout. Price action is still above the 20-week and 50-week moving averages, maintaining a
bullish undertone
from a medium-term perspective. However, the ongoing sideways action indicates a lack of fresh directional conviction.

Given the current technical structure, it would be prudent for traders to remain selective and protect profits at higher levels. The markets are not displaying signs of aggressive strength, and unless there is a convincing move above 25350, a stock-specific approach with tight risk management is advised. Traders may avoid aggressive fresh buying until a directional move is clearly established. Cautious optimism, with a focus on stocks exhibiting stronger relative strength, is the ideal approach for the coming week.
In our look at Relative Rotation Graphs®, we compared various sectors against the CNX500 (NIFTY 500 Index), representing over 95% of the free-float market cap of all the listed stocks
Relative Rotation Graphs (RRG) show that the Nifty Media and the Metal Index have rolled inside the leading quadrant. The Midcap 100, Realty, and PSU Bank Index are also inside the leading quadrant. These groups are likely to relatively outperform the broader Nifty 500 Index.
The Nifty Bank, PSE, and the Financial Services Index are inside the weakening quadrant. They may experience a decline in relative performance compared to the broader markets.
The Nifty Services Sector Index, Pharma, Consumption, and the FMCG Index continue to languish inside the lagging quadrant. Among these groups, the Pharma Index shows improvement in its relative momentum against the broader markets.
The IT Index is inside the improving quadrant; it continues to improve its relative momentum against the benchmark. The Auto Index, which is also inside the improving quadrant, is seen deteriorating in relative momentum.
Important Note: RRG™ charts show the relative strength and momentum of a group of stocks. In the above Chart, they show relative performance against NIFTY500 Index (Broader Markets) and should not be used directly as buy or sell signals.

UPI surge: India leads the world in fast payments; 18 billion monthly transactions power growth

AI image India has become the world's top player in real-time digital payments, largely due to the rapid growth of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), according to a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) note titled 'Growing Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability'. Launched in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India, UPI has revolutionised the country's payment ecosystem by enabling users to link multiple bank accounts to a single mobile app and make instant transactions with ease. It has not only simplified peer-to-peer payments but also enabled millions of small businesses to accept digital payments at minimal cost. According to data from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), UPI now processes over 18 billion transactions every month, accounting for 85 per cent of India's total digital payments. In June alone, the platform recorded 18.39 billion transactions worth Rs 24.03 lakh crore — a 32 per cent increase from June last year. With 491 million users and 65 million merchants onboard, UPI connects 675 banks through a single digital framework. 'This shift has taken India away from cash and card-based payments and pushed it towards a digital-first economy,' noted the PIB in its latest background series. 'Millions of individuals and small businesses now rely on UPI for safe and low-cost transactions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get Your Handmade Phone Case Now [Limited Offer] Buy Now Undo By making payments quick and accessible, UPI has become a powerful tool for financial inclusion.' The platform's global footprint is expanding as well. UPI is now operational in seven countries, including the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, and Mauritius. Its debut in France marks UPI's first foray into Europe, allowing Indians there to pay seamlessly without the usual hassles of foreign transactions. India is also pushing for UPI to be adopted within the BRICS grouping, which now includes six new member nations. As per the PIB, such an expansion 'will improve remittances, boost financial inclusion and raise India's profile as a global tech leader in digital payments.' The journey to this digital success was built on a strong foundation of financial inclusion. The Jan Dhan Yojana was a key enabler, bringing over 55.83 crore people into the formal banking system as of July 9. These accounts not only offer a secure way to receive welfare benefits but also encourage saving and digital financial habits. 'These figures show more than just numbers. They reflect trust, convenience and speed. Every month, more individuals and businesses choose UPI for their payments. This growing use is a strong sign that India is moving steadily towards a cashless economy,' the PIB added. Stay informed with the latest business news, updates on bank holidays and public holidays . Govt schools to teach entrepreneurship across classesVII-XII

New Delhi: A new chapter in education is unfolding in Delhi govt schools as students from classes VII to XII prepare to learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship—not as an optional activity, but as a part of their regular curriculum. This initiative is part of the newly launched NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem & Vision) scheme, introduced this year. To get things rolling, all heads of schools across Delhi will participate in an orientation session this week. This training will equip them to effectively implement NEEEV in classrooms and help students combat the potential problems they may face. Aligned with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NEEEV aims to prepare students for real-world challenges by equipping them with the mindset and tools needed to innovate, ideate, and build sustainable ventures. Under this scheme, students will be gradually introduced to various facets of entrepreneurship, including startup ecosystems, ideation, prototyping, funding strategies, and the fundamentals of launching and managing a business. Weekly sessions will be conducted by school faculty members appointed by the principal, ensuring consistent and hands-on learning throughout the academic year. In addition, schools must establish a school innovation council, chaired by the principal, to oversee entrepreneurship activities and evaluate student projects. To enrich student engagement, Delhi govt is introducing two flagship components under NEEEV: NEEEV Dialogue, a biannual speaker series that brings together entrepreneurs, university incubators, and industry experts to inspire and mentor students; and Startup Stormers, a competitive platform for students from Class IX onwards, where selected teams with innovative ideas may receive financial support to transform their prototypes into viable startups. In 2019–20, Aam Aadmi Party govt introduced the entrepreneurship curriculum to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking among students. A key feature of this programme was Business Blasters, a practical initiative that offered seed funding to students, enabling them to turn their ideas into real-world business ventures.

One Big Beautiful Bill: A bold reset or another layer of complexity?

New student loan rules and funding changes begin under Trump's OBBB. (AI Image) The US Department of Education has announced the immediate implementation of higher education provisions within the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB). The move follows the signing of the legislation into law by President Trump, delivering wide-ranging changes aimed at federal student aid programs and student loan repayment systems. On July 18, 2025, the Department released a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) to provide initial guidance to higher education institutions and Federal Student Aid (FSA) partners. The DCL outlines near-term regulatory changes and marks the first phase of the OBBB implementation process. Major changes to student loan repayment The OBBB introduces major updates to income-based repayment (IBR) plans, offering a more streamlined approach for borrowers. The reforms target simplification of loan repayment systems, including new repayment options for parent borrowers and revised loan limits for part-time students. The bill addresses regulations from the previous administration, including those related to borrower defence to repayment and closed school discharge policies. These changes affect how borrowers can seek relief from student loan obligations in cases of institutional misconduct or closure. Pell Grant funding and vocational training expansion One of the core provisions of the OBBB is the allocation of funds to cover a $10.5 billion shortfall in the Pell Grant programme. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 3 Casino Games in Sheffield Lounge 777 Play Game Undo This funding aims to stabilise the program, ensuring continued support for low-income students. Additionally, the bill establishes a new Workforce Pell Grant programme, intended to expand access to short-term, career-focused training. These programmes are designed to prepare students for high-demand job sectors and are expected to launch next year as part of a phased implementation. Eliminating aid to underperforming institutions The OBBB includes new accountability measures for higher education institutions. Under the new law, colleges that offer programmes leaving students worse off financially than before enrolment will lose access to federal student loan funding. This provision is intended to ensure that only institutions providing clear economic value to students will remain eligible for federal aid. The Department of Education has stated that additional guidance and regulatory updates will be issued as these measures are developed further. Next steps in implementation While several provisions take immediate effect, others—including the full rollout of the new Repayment Assistance Plan and the Workforce Pell Grant programme—will become effective in the following year. The Department of Education has indicated that further updates will be provided in future guidance documents and through formal regulatory processes. Acting Under Secretary James Bergeron described the announcement as the first step in advancing the President's vision for postsecondary education and workforce development. The Department will continue working with stakeholders as the broader implementation of the OBBB unfolds over the coming years. TOI Education is on WhatsApp now. Follow us here .
