Shark Week 2025 is just around the corner. Discovery Channel's annual celebration of the ocean's apex predator returns for its 37th year this weekend. Read on to find out exactly when Shark Week begins, the full release schedule and more details about the jaw-dropping event.
Shark Week brought in an impressive 25 million viewers last year, according to Warner Bros. Discovery, and the thrilling footage and groundbreaking scientific discoveries are back for 2025.
The week-long event will feature 20 hours of new specials, including Dancing with Sharks to kick off the week. Hosted by Emmy-winning TV personality Tom Bergeron, the special features 'an unprecedented underwater dance competition between expert divers and their shark partners,' Discovery teased.
This summer also marks the 50th anniversary of Jaws, and Shark Week is honoring the milestone with special programming inspired by the blockbuster film. Surviving Jaws features marine biologist Tom 'The Blowfish' Hird and predator ecologist Michelle Jewell as they dive with great whites to answer one burning question: Does skinny-dipping really attract great white sharks?
Fans can also look forward to the return of Air Jaws, where two teams travel the globe in search of the biggest breaching sharks in the world. Another special, In the Eye of the Storm, follows victims and first responders in real time as they encounter a cluster of shark attacks along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Jessica Alba & Danny Ramirez Fuel Dating Rumors After Cozy Cancun Trip

Hollywood may have a new power duo in the making. Jessica Alba, 44, and 'Top Gun: Maverick' actor Danny Ramirez, 32, are igniting romance rumors after being spotted traveling together from Cancun, Mexico. In video footage obtained by TMZ, the two actors were seen boarding a flight side by side in the tropical destination before landing in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. While neither has publicly addressed their relationship status, the cozy sighting has the internet buzzing. The possible new romance comes six months after Alba publicly announced her split from her husband of 16 years, Cash Warren. In a heartfelt Instagram statement released in January, the Honey actress wrote: 'I've been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years, both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I'm proud of how we've grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.' Alba emphasized that the separation was amicable, stating, 'We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.' The former couple, who share three children, had long been seen as one of Hollywood's more grounded and private families, rarely making headlines for anything outside their professional lives. In the months following the announcement, Alba made waves at an Oscars after-party when she was seen sharing a jacket with comedian Alex Edelman. Social media lit up with speculation, but sources quickly shut down rumors of a romantic connection. 'They are not dating,' a source told E! News. 'They met walking to their cars at the end of the night, and he offered her his jacket because she was freezing before they went their separate ways.' Another insider clarified Edelman was simply 'a friend of a friend' of Alba's. This latest sighting with Ramirez, however, has fans wondering if there's something more than just friendship between the pair. Ramirez, known for his breakout roles in Top Gun: Maverick and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has been relatively private about his personal life. Neither he nor Alba has posted anything indicating a relationship, but their joint travel plans have certainly set off alarms in the tabloid world. Venice Days' out-of-competition special events lineup includes several documentaries, including Who Is Still Alive, from Swiss filmmaker Nicolas Wadimoff, recounting the experiences of nine Palestinian refugees from Gaza; and With Writing Life, from French documentarian Claire Simon, which uses the words of Nobel Prize-winning novelist Annie Ernaux, through readings of her books by French high school students, to form a portrait of the younger generation. The sidebar also includes the 9-film out-of-competition section Venetian Nights, which highlights titles from major Italian producers. Italian director Gianni Di Gregorio, whose sleeper hit Mid-August Lunch won Venice Critics' Week's Lion of the Future prize in 2008, returns to the Lido with the comedy Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't, in which he also stars as a retired professors whose placid and monotonous existence is shaken up by the arrival of his daughter and his rowdy grandchildren. The film will close Venice Days, running out of competition. The president of this year's Venice Days jury is Norwegian writer and director Dag Johan Haugerud, whose queer love story Dreams, the final film in his Sex, Love, Dreams trilogy, won the Golden Bear for best film at the Berlinale in February. Haugerud's breakout film, Barn premiered at Venice Days in 2019. Joining him on the jury are Italian producer Francesca Andreoli (Vermiglio), Franco-Palestinian filmmaker Lina Soualem (Bye Bye Tiberias), Tunisian cinematographer Sofian El Fani (Timbuktu), and New York's MoMA film curator Josh Siegel.
