Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego.
To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 22nd of 27 players who wore the No. 15 jersey for the Warriors.
That player would be Golden State forward alum Bill Curley. After ending his college career at Boston College, was picked up with the 22nd overall selection of the 1994 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
The Boston, Massachusetts native would play the first season of his pro career with the Detroit Pistons instead however, traded there a few weeks after the draft. He would also have stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets before he signed with the Dubs late in 1999 for his first of two stints, separated by five games with the Dallas Mavericks.
The second lasted just 15 games, his last in the NBA. During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Curley wore only jersey Nos. 15 and 30 and put up 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.

Throughout the summer, rumors have linked the Golden State Warriors with the addition of Al Horford. The free agent big man is expected to head to the Bay Area in what could be the final stop of his career. He's spent the past four years with the Boston Celtics, helping them win the 2024 NBA championship. However, Horford doesn't appear to be in a rush to make a final decision regarding his current free agency. He could still opt to retire now, rather than chasing another championship ring. There's also the concern that Golden State's negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga are slowing down the franchise's ability to strengthen last year's roster. During a recent appearance on ESPN's NBA Today, Anthony Slater detailed why losing out on Horford so late in the summer would be a tough blow for the Warriors, especially as Kevon Looney has already left the franchise. "All signs point to Al Horford," Slater said. "They're certainly interested in him. If they're not able to get that done, if Horford, who you hear is also mulling retirement, is not on the roster next year, it's a big miss by the Warriors as it's in their plans. They need a stretch five." Horford is the type of floor-spacing five the Warriors need. In recent years, he's become almost an exclusively perimeter-based threat, as he picks and chooses when to work out of the post or drive into the paint. He shot 36.3% from deep last season on 5.2 attempts per game, and 41.9% in 2023-24 on 4 attempts per game. Horford should fit well in Steve Kerr's five-out-based offense. Furthermore, Horford will add some positional versatility to the Warriors' defensive rotation. Even now, with him closing in on his 39th birthday, Horford can guard multiple positions on the floor, rebound in traffic and his understanding of angles makes him a high-level drive deterrent. Pairing him with Draymond Green could unlock a new level of defensive efficiency from the franchise. Unfortunately, Warriors fans may need to continue waiting for the veteran big man, as neither he nor the Warriors' front office appears to be in a rush to get the deal over the line. Chicago Bulls, coach Billy Donovan agree to contract extension, per report
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan has agreed to a contract extension with the franchise, ESPN reported Sunday, July 27. Donovan, who has been the Bulls' coach since 2020-21, is 195-205 in his five seasons with Chicago and is entering his 11th season as NBA coach, spending his first five seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bulls were 39-43 last season and finished in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. They lost to the Miami Heat in the play-in game. Chicago has been to the playoffs once under Donovan – a first-round loss to Milwaukee after going 46-36 in 2021-22. Donovan won two NCAA men's basketball national titles at Florida in 2006 and 2007 and played in a Final Four in 2014. He took the Oklahoma City job in 2015 and has been in the NBA since. Why did Billy Donovan get a contract extension? The Bulls like stability, and Donovan provides that with his coaching and relationships with players, front office and ownership. Donovan enjoys coaching in the NBA and living in Chicago. The two sides have been working on extension for months, and at the trade deadline in February, Donovan told reporters, "I want to be part of building something." The New York Knicks requested permission to speak with Donovan about their previously open head coaching position but were denied. Which direction are the Bulls headed? As the Eastern Conference improves with teams such as the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic moving toward deep playoff runs alongside Cleveland, New York, Indiana, Milwaukee and Boston, the Bulls seem stuck in neutral. They were 39-43 in 2023-24 and 40-42 in 2022-23. They have tried to make playoff runs with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Nik Vucevic, Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball. Injuries, especially Ball missing two seasons, derailed Chicago's plans, and only Vucevic remains on the roster. Chicago has young talent it is trying to develop, including Matas Buzelis, the No. 11 pick in the 2024 draft, and Noa Essengue, the No. 12 pick in the 2025 draft. They are also working to bring back restricted free agent Josh Giddey on a long-term deal.
