After struggling for minutes at Ajax this season he joined Ligue 1 side Lille on loan in the winter transfer window.
He recently opened up on how he laid awake for days after receiving an offer from Saudi Arabia when he was with the Championship outfit.
Akpom told LavieCutz on TikTok: "Before I signed for Ajax, I received an offer from Saudi Arabia.
"I barely slept for five nights. When you hear that there is interest in you, it is different than when you actually see it on paper.
"Then all kinds of things happen in your body. Everything starts to itch. I lay awake for days. My girlfriend and I were lying in bed thinking about everything.
"You're about to get a certain amount of money, but you don't have it yet, but in your head, you're already spending it.

Former Man Utd striker Mason Greenwood returns to Manchester for training
Mason Greenwood has returned to Manchester for a training session, 12 months after he left the city following his departure from Manchester United and move to Ligue 1 side Marseille Ex-Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has been spotted training in England, a year after his move to Marseille. The 23-year-old uploaded photos to social media of himself partaking in drills at the home of Manchester-based non-league side Chadderton FC. The Bradford-born forward joined the Red Devils' academy at the tender age of six and made his first-team debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2019, soon becoming the club's youngest European goalscorer at just 17. In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour. These charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service a year later. Following his arrest, Greenwood was suspended by United and loaned out to Spanish side Getafe. In July of 2024, he left Old Trafford for good, signing for Ligue 1 side Marseille in a deal worth £26.6million. Now, roughly a year after leaving Manchester, Greenwood has been seen back in the area, training with Chadderton, a well-known non-league team based in Oldham, reports the Manchester Evening News. Pictures on Instagram show Greenwood taking part in sprints and shooting drills on Chadderton's new 3G pitch, alongside former United team-mate D'Mani Mellor. Mellor and Greenwood once shared the pitch during a shocking 2-1 loss to Astana in the Europa League back in 2019. The United youngsters had taken an early lead through Jesse Lingard, only to be shocked by a second-half revival from the Kazakhstani side, cemented by an own goal from Di'Shon Bernard. The 24-year-old experienced a series of loan moves before a permanent switch to Wycombe Wanderers in 2022. He is now starring for Macclesfield and was spotted training with Greenwood once again earlier this month, this time at a Manchester-based facility. As for Greenwood, his first campaign with Marseille was an incredibly successful one, as he tied with Ballon d'Or hopeful and Champions League winner Ousmane Dembele atop the Ligue 1 goal-scoring charts with 21. This prolific strike rate helped his team secure a second-placed finish, earning them a berth in next season's Champions League. They'll also be welcoming former United hopeful Angel Gomes into their ranks. Marseille's championing of Greenwood doesn't end there; team-mate Adrien Rabiot held nothing back in his praise, telling The Athletic: "Mason is an incredible player. "If he hadn't had all of his problems, I think he'd have an image like [Jude] Bellingham. Mason would be the star. Because he's an exceptional player. "He can score with his right foot and his left foot, he has an exceptional shot, he can dribble. We're very lucky to have him. When he's really focused, he does really great things." Emma Raducanu speaks out about Jack Draper relationship as Brit duo link-up at Wimbledon
Emma Raducanu speaks out about Jack Draper relationship as Brit duo link-up at Wimbledon Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper are the British No. 1s and will be looking to carry the home hopes in the heat this week at Wimbledon as they both start their campaigns Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper are Britain's best hopes of a victory at Wimbledon this summer (Image: PA ) Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper shared a joint practice session ahead of Wimbledon as they gear up to lead the home charge at SW19. The two top-ranked British players have known each other since their teenage years – and now take on the responsibility of shouldering the nation's hopes under the sweltering London sun. "It's amazing," said Raducanu. "I've known him [Draper] for so long, so many years, and when we were both pretty promising juniors, and now to be British No. 1 on both men and women's side as the real thing is, it's pretty cool. "He's doing so well right now so this Wimbledon, I'm sure, for him, will feel different. But he's in a great place, and hopefully his seeding can help him." This year, 23 British players are competing in the singles events, with 14 stepping onto the courts on Monday. Raducanu, who has been managing a back problem, begins her tournament facing Welsh wildcard Mimi Xu while world No. 4 Draper kicks off his campaign against Argentina's Sebastian Baez on Tuesday. "You see so many Brits in the draw, and you see them win their match so you want to win your match," Raducanu added. "It's healthy competition, because you don't want to be the one left behind. And I think that's a good thing, and it's not coming from any bad place. Article continues below Emma Raducanu is once again British No. 1 (Image: Getty ) "It's just like: 'Okay, I want to do the same and then keep going as much as I can. And I think it's amazing for British tennis to have so many Brits in the drawer and some younger players coming through too. It's good to see a new generation. "It keeps us on our toes. It keeps us hungry to improve. I know I'm going to have to bring a really good level of tennis on Monday if I want to get through it." Temperatures are expected to reach a record 33C, making this potentially the warmest opening day in Wimbledon history. British No. 4 Billy Harris, who will take on lucky loser Dusan Lajovic in the third match on Court 15, commented: "Obviously got to try and stay out of the sun today and hydrate tonight and keep the fluids in the body because it is tough if it goes a few hours. You really have to look after the hydration and the fuel tomorrow." Emma Raducanu with Jack Draper have known each other for years (Image: Getty. ) Article continues below For the first time, three British teenage girls aged 17 or younger – Xu, 17, along with 16-year-olds Hannah Klugman and Mika Stojsavljevic – are part of the women's singles draw. Raducanu and Draper have largely struggled at Wimbledon, with the former's best effort being a fourth round exit back in 2021, and the latter's being two second round exits in 2022 and 2024. Both have built up momentum over the past few months, with Draper reaching the semi-finals of the US Open and Raducanu breaking back into the top 50, but much of that will be lost if they fail to make an impact at SW19 in the coming fortnight.

Jake Paul faces off with Gliberto ‘Zurdo' Ramirez after calling cruiserweight world champion ‘easy work'
JAKE PAUL went face to face with unified cruiserweight world champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez. Ramirez successfully defended his unified WBA and WBO belts against Cuban Yuniel Dorticos in California. 3 Jake Paul facing off with world champ Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez Credit: Getty In the main event, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul cruised to victory after ten rounds with former middleweight world champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. And afterwards, he audaciously called out Mexico's 49-1 Ramirez. He said: "I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion. Zurdo looked slow as s*** tonight, that'd be easy work too." Paul later called out heavyweight star Anthony Joshua and Tommy Fury in the post-fight press conference. And after Ramirez walked into the room, they faced off to tease a future bout. Ramirez, 34, himself called out Australia's pound-for-pound star and IBF champion Jai Opetaia, 30, for a three-belt unification bout. He said: '(Opetaia) is the fight that I want. I'm the king. Get my phone and call me. I want it. Be ready.' Paul, 28, meanwhile teased a rematch with Fury, 26, who he lost to via split-decision in 2023 to stand as his lone defeat in the ring. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS He said: "I don't even think I was a fighter then. I was like two years, two and a half years into the sport and I didn't really know what I was doing. "I didn't have the proper team around me, the proper conditioning. My lifestyle outside of the ring was still that of like a YouTuber, celebrity actor, whatever I was at that point. Jake Paul's team plot talks with Anthony Joshua in New York "So I wasn't fully focused on boxing. Like I said, this feels like chapter one's done tonight. "Now we're moving into chapter two and I'm just getting warmed up in this sport but people hold the Tommy Fury thing against me, but what now? "I just beat a former world champion and I'm coming to avenge that loss as well with Tommy." 3 Jake Paul beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on points Credit: Getty
