Elon Musk's Estranged Daughter Seemingly Relishes Trump Fallout: 'Such Beauty In Life'

Yahoo08-06-2025
Elon Musk's estranged daughter Vivian Wilson seems to be relishing the public fallout between her father and President Donald Trump — understandably so, as the tech billionaire previously stated that Wilson is 'dead' to him for coming out as trans and legally changing her name.
Wilson's supposed glee at the ongoing political feud kicked off this week in the form of two Instagram posts that multiplemediaoutlets captured before they expired for public viewing.
'I do not want to comment. I love being proven right,' said Wilson in the first clip Thursday through laughter, per People. The second post — accompanied by a Chase Icon song titled 'Job Application'— included a screenshot of a Threads postin which Wilson simply wrote, 'Such beauty in life.'
Musk, the CEO of Tesla, spent millions to help fuel Trump's reelection, but began criticizing the president last month over the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates would add $2.4 trillion to the national deficit over the next 10 years.
The feud reached a peak Thursday when Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the reason the Jeffrey Epstein files haven't been released is because Trump is in them. Epstein, a financier, died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Musk has since deleted his post, which prompted colorful reactions from critics — including his daughter.
Wilson has long distanced herself from her father. The 21-year-old changed her legal name in 2022, opting for the surname of her mother Justine Wilson, and is one of 14 known children Musk has had with four different women.
Musk said in 2024 that his transgender daughter was 'killed by the woke mind virus.'
Wilson responded at the time by noting she looks 'pretty good for a dead bitch,' and hasn't relented against Musk since. She has not only called him a 'serial adulterer' and fake Christian, but slammed his 'Nazi salute shit' after Musk's appearance at Trump's inauguration event in January.

Live updates: Trump will meet with the Philippines leader to talk tariffs and China

President Donald Trump will host Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday at the White House, as the two countries are seeking closer security and economic ties in the face of shifting geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region. Marcos' three-day visit, where he also met Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, shows the importance of the alliance between the treaty partners at a time when China is increasingly assertive in the South China Sea, where Manila and Beijing have clashed over the hotly contested Scarborough Shoal. Washington views Beijing, the world's No. 2 economy, as its biggest competitor, and consecutive presidential administrations have sought to shift U.S. military and economic focus to the Asia-Pacific in a bid to counter China. Tariffs also are expected to be on the agenda. Trump has threatened to impose 20% tariffs on Filipino goods on Aug. 1 unless the two sides can strike a deal. How Canadian boycotts are impacting the U.S.

Amid rising trade and political tensions, Canadian consumers are increasingly turning their backs on American products. Giancarlo Trimarchi, owner of Vince's Market, a Canadian grocery chain, has seen the backlash firsthand. "Customers are demanding as much Canadian product as possible and get upset when they see U.S. goods," he said. In a move that could escalate the trade standoff further, President Donald Trump recently announced new tariffs of 35% on Canadian goods starting Aug. 1. "The U.S. tariffs look like they're going to last for the duration of the Trump administration in one form or another. And, that's going to keep other countries in a negative mood towards U.S. goods and services," said Gary Hufbauer, senior fellow at Peterson Institute for International Economics. A "Buy Canada" movement is also intensifying, with 71% of Canadians saying they plan to buy fewer U.S. goods this year, according to retail data consulting firm dunnhumby. That pullback is expected to cause a drop in U.S. exports to Canada, particularly in food and alcohol. In 2024, Canada was the U.S.'s second-largest food export market, valued at $28.4 billion, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Tourism is also feeling the pressure, with foreign tourists canceling their travel plans to America. The loss in revenue from international travelers is expected to cost the U.S. economy $12.5 billion this year, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council. The boycott sentiment isn't limited to Canada. European consumers, sharing the same frustrations with U.S. foreign policy, are also rejecting American products. A European Central Bank survey revealed that 44% of Europeans are turning away from U.S. brands. This has contributed to plummeting sales for U.S. companies, especially Tesla, which saw a nearly 28% drop in European sales amid a litany of other factors. While some hope trade tensions will ease and that things will return to normal, consumer surveys indicate this shift in behavior could have lasting effects on U.S. companies, even after tariffs are resolved. Watch the video to find out more about the Canadian boycott of American goods and what impact it could have on the U.S. economy.

Enough with the popcorn buckets

I woke up one day and suddenly the world was 'on' popcorn buckets. I have a limit. This is it. It is no secret that J.R. Fickle enjoys kitsch as much as the next guy. But my kitsch has a purpose (e.g. historical significance or support of an artist). But $60 popcorn buckets? This all feels too…corporate. And far be it from me to knock someone else's hobby. If you are into popcorn buckets, I cannot and will not hold that against you. But I'm not jumping on board. Why? They're not super limited. We aren't even sure how many are made. They're everywhere. The fun in a Disney Figment bucket is you had to go to Disney and to one specific spot to find it. Finding the Trader Joe's mascot? You need to look for it! Mardi Gras Doubloons? You have to be not only in New Orleans, and not only at a parade, but you have to be at the right parade and be in the right place as they're thrown. Popcorn buckets? Just show up at the theater and be willing to pay $50 for a food holder that will forever remind you of a movie that got a 61 on the Tomatometer. Are these cool? Yes. The Superman newsstand one, especially. But I'm not sure they're collectible. You become 'the popcorn bucket guy' and you run out of room QUICKLY. Remember Funkos? They were fun and awesome…until everyone realized that they take up a lot of space. Cards are nice and flat. Pennants can fit on walls. But popcorn buckets? Start buying your big plastic storage tubs now. There are a lot of details we still need filled in on the Mister Mancave memorabilia scandal. So for now we are left to wildly speculate! As is tradition! In one of my group chats someone called Lemieux a scumbag, but… well… sure. He was probably/assuredly not a good guy, but when I hear scumbag, I think of a low-level huckster with bad intentions. This was sophisticated stuff, getting an auto-pen to recreate signatures is not something you do on a whim. Getting an auto-pen period is not something you do on a whim. Then to have the authenticators' holograms recreated — to the point where Fanatics changed theirs to combat this one guy — is pretty effective/elevated scamming. J.R. Fickle, believe it or not, is a studier of hoaxes and scams (and urban legends). I cannot recommend this graphic novel enough. And there is one scam that is brilliantly put together — the white van scam. It reminds me of this, a little bit. Both are bad. Both infuriate you. But the effort is above the usual low-level scam. In its essence, the white van scam is a sophisticated ruse where two guys who supposedly work at an electronics store pull up and offer to sell you speakers they stole from their racist boss (or some play on that trope). The next few details are where they get you, though. They show you an ad for the speakers. They usually have a manifest with orders. They will open the box and show you the front of the speakers, which usually look awesome. You say no thanks, they pressure and cajole, and before you know it you have spent $200 on speakers worth…$40? You'll see when you check out the back of the speakers. They are scummy, to be sure. But the sophistication at least commands some respect on an objective level. Lemieux also went down swinging and revealed everything he could before exiting. AGAIN, never nice to scam people. They are garbage. But at least Lemieux showed us, in his final salvo, how high-level collectible fraud can get. Have your guard up AT ALL TIMES. Check seller ratings. If a price is too good to be true, it likely is. I have seen a hilarious (NSFW) surprise in a video, and it is courtesy of JunkWaxSal on Instagram. This is a Sixth Sense-level twist. But with bilkinis. If I say anything else, I will spoil it. You don't need the sound on to get the full effect. A friend in Italy sent me a pack of Italian Brainrot cards. I don't know what's happening here (and the cards are in English), but it feels very much like a quick capitalization on a trend done on poor card stock with a very hard to follow set of game rules. Pokemon, but super confusing. Still, Europe is usually ahead of us, and these may be worth something…so I opened one pack and held onto the other. That's it for me this week, as I continue my quest to find the Lil' McDonald's Boo Bucket (which is trending down, as the store – predicted here TWO WEEKS AGO – rises in value.
