Saudi Arabia's Tourism Soars: 116 Million Visitors, SR284 Billion Spending In 2024
The report revealed that total domestic and inbound travel spending reached around SR284 billion in 2024, an 11 per cent year-on-year growth.
The surge reflects the Kingdom's growing appeal as a global travel destination and the effectiveness of its sustained investment in tourism infrastructure, cultural offerings, and streamlined visitor experiences.
A record-breaking 30 million inbound tourists visited Saudi Arabia in 2024, an 8 percent increase over 2023, the highest number ever recorded.
Spending by international visitors soared to SR168.5 billion, a 19 percent rise from the previous year. Domestic tourism also showed robust growth, with 86.2 million residents travelling within the Kingdom, spending SR115.3 billion and representing a 5 per cent increase in volume and value.
Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism, said: 'Tourism is no longer a supporting sector; it is a key economic driver that enables Vision 2030. These figures reflect the commitment of our partners across the tourism ecosystem, from investors and entrepreneurs to cultural institutions and hospitality leaders.'
The ministry emphasised that the sector's growth builds on the significant momentum gained in 2023 and showcases the effectiveness of recent policy reforms, marketing campaigns, and investment initiatives to make Saudi Arabia more accessible and attractive to global travellers.

'These violations contradict the service commitments agreed upon with providers and are not aligned with the standards we expect for pilgrims,' the ministry said in a statement. 'Ensuring the comfort, safety, and dignity of pilgrims remains our top priority.' The penalties vary depending on the severity and recurrence of each violation. In addition to the suspension of four firms, other companies were fined, though the ministry did not disclose the exact amounts. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reiterated its commitment to enforcing strict compliance across the sector. 'Negligence or failure to meet contractual duties will result in firm legal consequences,' the statement added. The inspections are part of ongoing efforts by Saudi authorities to elevate the overall experience of pilgrims visiting the Two Holy Mosques, particularly in light of the Kingdom's goals to expand and enhance religious tourism under Vision 2030. The ministry urged all licensed companies to adhere to the approved regulations and timelines, stressing the importance of delivering high-quality services throughout every phase of the pilgrim's journey.

Saudi Arabia, Indonesia Seal $27 Billion In Deals
Saudi Arabia and Indonesia signed a series of agreements and memorandums of understanding worth a combined $27 billion, deepening economic and strategic cooperation across sectors ranging from energy and petrochemicals to defence and cybersecurity. The signings came during a visit to the Kingdom by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, on Wednesday, underscoring the growing importance of bilateral ties between Southeast Asia's largest economy and the Gulf's biggest oil exporter. Among the agreements were commitments to expand collaboration in clean energy, aviation fuel services, and petrochemical industries. The two governments also reaffirmed their shared interest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and carbon circular economy models. Over the past five years, bilateral trade between the two nations has reached approximately $31.5 billion, with Saudi Arabia now standing as Indonesia's top trading partner in the region. Both sides welcomed progress made in negotiations for a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Gulf Cooperation Council, which held rounds in September 2024 and February 2025, expressing optimism that a final accord could be reached soon. In the energy sector, Riyadh and Jakarta committed to strengthening cooperation on crude oil supplies, petrochemical development, electricity generation, and renewable energy.
