Where is Shane Vereen, Patriots Super Bowl hero who sold home to Drake Maye rival?

Remember Shane Vereen? The former New England Patriots running back was a Super Bowl hero (and tied for a record). He made a couple more NFL stops after leaving New England. Now, after some TV gigs, he's back in the NFL on the coaching side. Let's check in and see where Vereen is now.
Where are former Patriots now? | Shane Vereen (2011-2014)
These days, 36-year-old Vereen is living in Bellaire, Texas, just outside of Houston, with his wife and two daughters. Since last year, he's been working as a player personnel assistant for the Houston Texans.

Before that, Vereen was living in Castle Pines, Colorado. That was until 2024, when he sold the five-bedroom, seven-bath mansion for $4 million.
The buyer? That would be Bo Nix, who was drafted No. 12 overall by the Denver Broncos – nine picks after the Patriots took Drake Maye. After a strong season, Nix remains a budding rival quarterback for Maye in the AFC.
Vereen had multiple gigs as a TV analyst. After a year working with Fox Sports, Vereen spent roughly three years working as a college football analyst for the Pac-12 Network.
It's not all football for Vereen. After retiring in Vereen got involved with Esports. In 2019, he joined ESTV (Esports Television) along with his brother, Brock, who also played in the NFL. Vereen is currently listed the director of business development for ESTV's Celebrity League.

Vereen had a quiet start to the NFL after leading in New England as a second-round pick in 2011. However, his role in the Patriots offense slowly began to grow as he developed as a pass-catching back.
By 2013, he'd made a major leap, ranking third on the team with 47 receptions. The following year, he caught 52 passes for 447 yards.
He's best remembered for his performance in Super Bowl XLIX. Against the Seattle Seahawks, Vereen had a monster game catching passes out of the backfield with 11 receptions, which tied the Super Bowl record at the time. That mark has since been broken by Demaryius Thomas (13) and James White (14)
Vereen's contributions came mostly as a pass-catcher. His best season as a runner came in 2014, when he got 96 carries for 391 yards.

After winning a championship in New England, Vereen signed a deal with the New York Giants in free agency.
Vereen had a solid start in New York catching a career-high 59 passes in 2015. He was limited by injuries in 2016 before bouncing back in 2017, making 44 receptions.
That year marked the last time Vereen appeared in an NFL game.
In 2018, Vereen signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints, but was released with an injury settlement before the season began.

3x Super Bowl champion hoping to earn spot on Cowboys as veteran sage

Darius Harris has had a fortuitous run as an NFL linebacker. His career started in the best place imaginable, signing with Kansas City out of college at the beginning of the Patrick Mahomes era. He brought his experiences to Dallas last season, hoping to find a foothold in a transitioning defense that was suffering through some injury attrition at the time. Now he's back in Dallas for his first full offseason, under a new coaching regime, hoping to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. The club made several offseason acquisitions at the linebacker position, but despite the fact Harris hasn't seen much on-the-field action, he's survived some initial roster shuffles in order to make his way with the club to Oxnard for training camp. Rundown Position: Linebacker Age: 29 Height: 6-foot-2 Weight: 238 pounds Hometown: Horn Lake, MS High School: Horn Lake College: Middle Tennessee State (College Game Film) Draft: 2019 Undrafted Free Agent, Kansas City Acquired: 2024 Street FA Contract: One-year contract (2025), $1.17 million 2025 Base Salary: $1.17 million, no guarantees | Cap Hit $1.03 million (vet salary benefit) Career Earnings: $3.2 million (per Over The Cap) Profile Harris signed with the Chiefs as a UDFA, but was placed on the NFI list, missing his rookie year and the team's championship season. He was part of the team's next trip to the Big Game, and their subsequent back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023. While he wasn't a major part of those teams, starting just six games across those four seasons, he does know what its like to be in a consistent winning environment, and if he's able to relay that to his teammates in Dallas, that can be seen as a valuable asset. When it comes to playing time, there's a strong contingent ahead of him. The team traded for Kenneth Murray, a former first-round pick, and signed Jack Sanborn who is intimately familiar with new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. Second-year linebacker Marist Liufau has been impressive, and fourth-year LB Damone Clark has made a huge leap under Eberflus' direction. It also appears the Cowboys' best LB, DeMarvion Overshown, is once again showing Wolverine-like recovery ability and has a chance to contribute to the team sooner than midseason. That leaves limited opportunity for others, and with Dallas trading up in the fifth round for Shemar James, Harris has tough terrain to navigate in order to make the 53-man roster. Watch Benjamin Morrison looking fully healthy for the Buccaneers with a camp pick

Many teams passed up the opportunity to pick Notre Dame star cornerback Benjamin Morrison, as he was finally selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 53 pick of the second round of the NFL draft. While the hip injury ended his final season with the Irish early, it should not have made him drop that far, but it's becoming much clearer that Morrison is healthy and ready to contribute this coming season. It's looking like many of the teams that passed him over will regret that choice. The NFL has already started camp, and on Monday the Bucs shared an interception that he made during a portion of practice. It was a vintage play from the former All-American, as he had the wide receiver in his hip pocket, looked back to find the ball and showed great hands to make the pick. Morrison does look a bit weird wearing the No. 21 jersey, but that doesn't change the fact that he can be a lock-down corner in the NFL. Morrison has all the talent to be one of the best at the highest level, and he should continue to make plays like the one we saw on Monday as he starts his professional career. Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 40: a history of the number and who wore it best

The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 40 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 40 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 40 wearer: LB Devin Harper Signing with Pittsburgh's practice squad in August 2024, Harper is the current No. 40 wearer on the Steelers roster. He signed a reserve/future contract with Pittsburgh this past January and aims to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster as depth on defense and a potential special teams contributor. Last five Steelers to wear No. 40: Best No. 40 in Steelers history: TE Preston Carpenter Preston Carpenter is the best Steeler to ever wear No. 40. Drafted with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 1956 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, Carpenter signed with Pittsburgh in 1960 — where he spent the next four seasons of his career. He earned Pro Bowl recognition in 1962 and put together a solid four-year stat line of 1,680 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in Pittsburgh. Carpenter was a true athlete on the football field — serving as a halfback, defensive end, tight end, and kick returner during the entirety of his 12-year NFL career. Honorable mention: S Myron Bell, who played in 112 games for Pittsburgh — 39 of them starts, including the Steelers' Super Bowl XXX matchup against the Cowboys.
