Cleveland Browns star out for season with torn Achilles
The Browns' defensive back suffered a lower leg injury on Tuesday, which many were speculating was a torn Achilles.
"Martin Emerson Jr. suffered what's an Achilles injury in today's practice," Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday. "He'll undergo imaging to determine the full extent of the injury but the expectation is it's a significant tear."
After further evaluation, it was confirmed Emerson tore his Achilles and is done for the 2025 season.
"CB Martin Emerson Jr. tore his Achilles and is out for the entire 2025 season," Ari Meirov confirms.. "A brutal blow for Emerson Jr., who was entering the final year of his rookie deal. He has started 33 games over three seasons, recording 4 interceptions, 34 pass deflections, and 202 tackles."
The Browns' secondary is very thin when it comes to boundary cornerbacks. Not having Emerson could lead to Cleveland hitting the free agent market to bring in a proven veteran.

Sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson arrested this week after reported altercation with boyfriend at Seattle airport
Team USA sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested on Sunday after reportedly getting into a fight with her boyfriend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, according to a police report obtained by multiple media outlets. Richardson and Coleman went public with their relationship in February, though Coleman reportedly told police that the two have been together for two years. Per the report, Coleman refused to press charges and "declined to be a victim," via The Athletic. USA Track and Field said in a statement to USA Today that the organization was aware of the reports, but did not provide any additional comment. Richardson competed in the USA Track and Field championships in Eugene, Oregon, running in the first round of the women's 100-meter race on Thursday. With a time of 11.07 seconds, Richardson qualified in 11th place, but she has since withdrawn from the competition. She also pulled out of the 200-meter race, where she was scheduled to run this weekend. Because she's the reigning world champion in the 100, she automatically qualifies for September's World Championships in Tokyo in the event.

Young in the lead when Wyndham Championship halted by storms
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Cameron Young made two straight birdies to move ahead of defending champion Aaron Rai and then stuffed his tee shot on the par-3 16th into six feet when storm clouds gathered and halted play Friday in the Wyndham Championship. The second round was to resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the third round would be played in threesomes starting on both nines at Sedgefield Country Club. Young is considered among the best players to have not won on a major tour, twice contending into the final hour of major championships. He has seven runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour, including the British Open at St. Andrews. Young was at 14-under par. Rai, who won his first PGA Tour title a year ago at the Wyndham Championship, was at 13 under and had just missed the green to the left on No. 14. Mac Meissner had a 7-under 63 and Sungjae Im shot 64 to post at 12-under 128 from the morning round. Mark Hubbard shot a 66 and was another shot behind. Hubbard needs at least a three-way tie for second to advance to the post-season. The Wyndham Championship is the final tournament in the regular season, with the top 70 advancing to the lucrative post-season. The 36-hole cut was shaping up to be 4 under — possibly 3 under if scores got worse when the round resumed Saturday — and that meant some seasons were over for players like Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., and Zach Johnson. Ben Silverman of Thornhill, Ont., is tied for 82nd at 2 under, while Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C. is tied for 93rd at 1 under. Frederik Dupras, take a bow. At 2025 PFL World Tournament 8, the French-Canadian bounced back into the win column when he defeated Nathan Kelly by technical submission via guillotine choke. The fight was stopped at 4:38 of Round 2 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. A tight guillotine choke began standing as Dupras (9-2) hopped up on Kelly (11-5) and locked in his grip. As the two eventually fell to the canvas, Kelly tapped, but the referee was not in position to see it. So Kelly's neck was squeezed for a few seconds longer before the official recognized consciousness no longer was present. Dupras bounces back from an April loss to Gabriel Braga.
