PM Modi revived 6 decade old Jamrani Dam project, aims for 2029 completion: Uttarakhand CM Dhami

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the under-construction multipurpose JamrDam project in Nainital district and reviewed the ongoing work at the site.
Speaking to ANI after the survey, the chief minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reviving the decades-old project that had remained stalled for over 60 years.
"First of all, I would like to thank
PM Modi
on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand that this project was long pending for more than 6 decades now...A lot of time went by, and governments came and went, but the work didn't begin. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the project has been approved.
A target of 2029 has been given to complete the project. It is our effort to complete the project on time," CM Dhami said.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami also attended the launch of the book 'The Emergency Diaries: Years that Forged a Leader', where he described it as more than just a book, calling it an "experience that touches the heart."
He said the book tells the story of a time when speaking out was considered a crime and staying silent was seen as a form of surrender.

"I was still under seven years into my practice when I was offered the role of Assistant Government Pleader," he added. We restored peace by electing Kumkum Sirpurkar as the first woman president and Nitin Sambre as secretary — both unifying choices." BJP councillors, police clash during march to corporation office over laptop graft allegation
Thiruvananthapuram: The protest march by BJP activists and councillors towards the corporation main office on Saturday turned violent as they clashed with police over allegations of corruption in a laptop distribution initiative run by the civic body. The agitators accused the administration of misappropriating public funds meant to benefit students and demanded a transparent probe. As the march reached the gates of the corporation office around 11.30am, police used water cannons to disperse the crowd. The situation grew tense as some protesters attempted to jump over barricades, prompting further police intervention. The police and the protesters even had a scuffle before the cops forced them to disperse. The protest, which was inaugurated by BJP district president Karamana Jayan, follows dramatic scenes from Thursday's corporation council meeting, which turned chaotic after LDF councillors levelled serious graft charges against two BJP councillors, Punnakkamugal's P V Manju and Pappanamcode's G S Asha Nath. AP CM orders swift action on outsourcing staff issues, stresses urban hygiene
Vijayawada:Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed officials of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department to immediately resolve issues related to outsourcing employees. He sought complete details after reports emerged that several areas in Visakhapatnam were affected by water supply disruptions due to a strike by outsourcing staff. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the issue in Visakhapatnam had been resolved with the active involvement of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials. Naidu instructed MA&UD Minister P Narayana to convene a cabinet sub-committee meeting to focus on resolving the matter at the earliest. He emphasised the importance of ensuring uninterrupted services, especially during a season when the spread of infectious diseases is more likely. The chief minister advised prioritising cleanliness in urban areas and taking immediate preventive measures against infectious diseases. He highlighted the need to combat the mosquito menace and ensure the availability of safe drinking water. He called for the revival of all centrally sponsored schemes and the expedited implementation of projects funded by Rs 5,800 crore from the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB) and Rs 3,000 crore under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He stressed there should be no delays in executing projects under AMRUT, AMRUT 2.0, AIIB, and the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF).
