TCS and MIT Sloan Unveil New Research on Human-AI Collaboration in Business
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management Review, has launched a new research series exploring the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) in large enterprises. As more companies adopt AI-driven solutions, the focus is shifting from automation to strategic decision-making support. The year-long study, titled Human-Centric AI , examines how AI is transforming industries by enabling better decisions rather than simply optimizing processes. Covering six major sectors—manufacturing, retail and consumer goods, banking and finance, healthcare, energy, and technology—the research identifies how AI can create what it calls "intelligent choice architectures" (ICAs). These systems help organizations not only analyze data but shape the environment in which decisions are made. The research draws insights from major global organizations such as Walmart, Meta, MasterCard, BT, Cummins, and Pernod Ricard. For example, Pernod Ricard uses generative AI to test marketing content more effectively, while Walmart applies AI in HR to identify and nurture internal talent. In manufacturing, Cummins is using AI to simulate extreme engineering scenarios and improve product resilience. Mastercard has integrated AI across onboarding, customer care, and sales, while Liberty Mutual's LibertyGPT has saved over 200,000 employee hours by summarizing and responding to complex queries. Healthcare companies are also leveraging AI to accelerate drug discovery, reducing timelines by up to 30% and cutting associated costs by nearly 40%. Meanwhile, telecommunications provider BT has introduced an AI assistant named Aimee, which manages half of its 60,000 weekly customer interactions. The report emphasizes that AI's role is evolving from being a task assistant to becoming a co-architect in decision-making frameworks. 'ICAs flip the script,' said Michael Schrage, research fellow at MIT Sloan. 'They do not just learn from decisions — they learn how to improve the environment in which decisions are made.' TCS, already a key player in digital transformation, has been actively supporting enterprises on their AI journey. Its GenAI platform, WisdomNext™ 2.0, was recently enhanced with agent-based capabilities, and the company received the NVIDIA Rising Star Consulting Partner of the Year Award for AI Innovation. This new research series reinforces the growing importance of AI in helping enterprises navigate complex choices, optimize strategies, and build more accountable, human-centered decision systems. Magnifi unveils GenAI upgrade to transform live and archival video storytelling
The enhanced platform simplifies complex workflows with advanced GenAI features, enabling real-time editing, automated highlight creation, vertical-first video publishing, multilingual subtitles, AI-generated metadata and platform-native content delivery. Magnifi by VideoVerse, a global leader in AI-driven video automation, has unveiled a major platform upgrade designed to streamline and accelerate live and archival video editing for sports, media and entertainment industries. The enhanced platform introduces cutting-edge generative AI tools that enable content teams to produce, localise, and publish multi-format video content in real time, eliminating traditional post-production delays. At the heart of the upgrade is a unified dashboard that allows teams to edit more efficiently, automate publishing across platforms, and enhance audience engagement. The new features include real-time editing, AI-powered multilingual subtitles, automated vertical video creation, metadata enrichment and AI-generated thumbnails. This suite of tools addresses longstanding challenges in the industry, including labor-intensive workflows, metadata inconsistencies, and the growing demand for platform-native content across OTT, broadcast and social media. Among the standout upgrades is the enhanced Live Editor, which enables instant highlight generation during events, complete with culturally localised subtitles. The platform's vertical-first video creation tool, Storyteller, caters to mobile and short-form content needs and is already being utilised by FIFA+ to boost engagement. A dynamic rule engine allows content teams to set key event triggers, such as goals, wickets, or touchdowns, for automated publishing, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery. Magnifi's GenAI capabilities also produce platform-ready thumbnails and captions within seconds, significantly reducing manual effort and increasing content accessibility. These advancements have already led to measurable success: the Mountain West Conference in the US saw a 150% rise in viewership through real-time highlight publishing; an Asian OTT platform generated 45,000 clips monthly from 1,500 hours of content; the Indian Premier League (IPL) created 3,500 web stories from 14,000 minutes of footage, driving a 25% increase in web traffic; and a major rodeo partner reported a 15% boost in output, gaining 1.3m new viewers in just two months. Meghna Krishna, Chief Revenue Officer at VideoVerse, said: 'It has been a tremendous journey watching the product evolve from a simple highlight creation solution at inception, into a comprehensive editorial workspace. With this new update, we are empowering content teams to enhance creativity, maximize efficiency, and allocate resources more strategically. We have become a meaningful extension of our clients' editorial ecosystems, supporting both the system and the storytellers with the ease and efficiency of GenAI and automation.' Operating 24/7 across more than 50 global sports, Magnifi processed over 250,000 hours of footage last year alone, generating millions of clips for broadcasters, leagues and federations. With this latest upgrade, the company is now expanding its AI tools to newsrooms and broader media production environments. Early pilots with broadcasters are already delivering promising results in teaser production, newsroom editing, and multilingual content workflows, positioning Magnifi as a game-changer across the content ecosystem.

Financing Africa's Minerals: Momentum Builds Ahead of African Mining Week (AMW) 2025
International finance institutions are playing an increasingly pivotal role in Africa's mining sector, providing essential capital and technical support to unlock the continent's vast mineral potential. Last month, Angola became a sovereign shareholder in the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) through a $184.8 million equity investment. This milestone builds on over $1 billion in AFC financing that Angola has already received, including for the Lobito Corridor – an integrated logistics project connecting Angola, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Institutions such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), African Development Bank (AfDB) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD) are actively funding mining projects throughout the continent. As such, the upcoming African Mining Week (AMW) – Africa's premier gathering for mining stakeholders, scheduled for October 1-3, 2025, in Cape Town – will showcase strategic moves by African mineral-rich countries to enhance cooperation with global financiers. A dedicated panel titled The Investor Perspective – Financing Africa's Mineral Industrialization will discuss the investment landscape for African mineral industrialization. Algeria officially joined the New Development Bank – a multilateral institution founded by BRICS countries – in May this year, enhancing the country's access to capital and technical support for its oil, gas and mineral industries. That same month, Benin, Ivory Coast – one of Africa's largest gold producers – and Nigeria were designated as recipient countries by the EBRD, broadening their access to energy and mining project funding. Meanwhile, Ghana – Africa's largest gold producer – recently joined Nigeria and Angola in completing their capital contributions to the forthcoming Africa Energy Bank. Spearheaded by the African Petroleum Producers Organization and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the bank will serve as a dedicated financing institution for African extractive sector projects. In March 2025, Somalia also became the 53rd member of Afreximbank, a move expected to unlock new financing channels for the country's gold mining and trade-related developments. In 2024, the Ivory Coast and Botswana – the world's largest diamond producer – joined the AFC as sovereign shareholders, while Libya became the 53rd member of Afreximbank. In line with growing efforts to align financial innovation with mineral sector development, the AfDB approved a $150 million senior loan to Mauritania's state-owned mining firm, Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM). The funding supports a $467 million logistics expansion program aimed at doubling SNIM's iron ore railway transport capacity by 2030 and scaling up production of higher value-added products like iron ore pellets. The project integrates renewable energy through the construction of a 12 MW solar plant and includes climate resilience measures backed by the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program. Amidst these developments, AMW connects African policymakers with global investors to strengthen existing and forge new investment partnerships aimed at unlocking the continents full potential of its extractive sector.
