The 268th session of the Rajya Sabha will be scheduled to begin on Monday (July 21), as per the official Parliamentary Bulletin.According to the Legislative Section, summons were issued to members exclusively through the Members' Portal, and all were informed about the upcoming schedule and business days of the monsoon session.The session is planned to run from July 21 to August 21, with the House set to adjourn on August 12 and reconvene on August 18 to facilitate Independence Day celebrations The timing of the sittings was fixed from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on each working day, unless otherwise notified.This session is expected to include major legislative discussions and debates, although the detailed agenda had not been released at the time of the bulletin.Members of Parliament were advised to regularly check the Members' Portal for updates, circulars, and additional instructions regarding the session.Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the proposal to hold the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 21, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday.There will be no Parliament sittings on August 13 and 14 due to Independence Day celebrations.The upcoming Monsoon session will be the first Parliament session following Operation Sindoor , which was launched by India on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.The Budget session of Parliament began on January 31 this year. The Budget Session saw the passage of significant legislation, including the Waqf Amendment Bill.In the second part of the Session, there were 17 sittings of both Houses. During the entire Budget Session, in total, there were 26 sittings.

Congress makes fresh demand for debate on Indo-China relations after Army officer's revelation on China's covert support to Pakistan
In light of Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Rahul R. Singh's remarks regarding China's covert involvement in the recent India-Pakistan conflict, Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh said that for five years, the party has been demanding a debate in Parliament on Indo-China relations which the government has consistently refused. Lt. General Singh said China provided all the possible support and that India was fighting not only Pakistan but also China and Turkiye. He was addressing industry chamber FICCI. Mr. Ramesh in a post on X said that the Deputy Chief of Army Staff has 'publicly confirmed' what has been talked about ever since Operation Sindoor was halted 'abruptly at the intervention of President Trump'. 'Lt. Gen Singh has revealed some details of the extraordinary ways by which China helped the Pakistan Air Force. This is the same China which completely destroyed the status quo in Ladakh five years ago but to which Prime Minister Modi gave a public clean chit on June 19, 2020,' Mr. Ramesh wrote. 'Consistent refusal' Since the 2020 Indo-China conflict, Mr. Ramesh said Congress has been demanding a discussion on the 'full gamut of India-China relations' in the Parliament. 'The Modi govt. has consistently refused to have such a debate. The INC will continue to make this demand in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament, scheduled to commence on July 21, 2025,' he said. At least now, Mr. Ramesh said the government must agree so that a consensus can be built for a collective response to the geopolitical and economic challenges that China poses to India — directly and through Pakistan. 'Recently, China organised a trilateral meet with Pakistan and Bangladesh in Kunming. India's trade deficit with China is at record highs. The border agreement arrived at is not a restoration of the status quo,' Mr. Ramesh remarked.

MPs Battle Army In Sindoor Cup Organised By Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi
India saw the valour of its army during Operation Sindoor in May and in June, bureaucrats, politicians and soldiers joined hands to make it a memorable event through the Sindoor Cup cricket match organised by Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi. The trophy for the 'Operation Sindoor Cup', a match between Army XI and Parliament XI was also unveiled by the MP. The match between Army XI and Parliament XI was played to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor, launched by Indian Armed Forces against Pakistan-backed terror groups following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The trophy featured a cricket bat, Brahmos missile and a Rafale jet. In the Army XI, the Army officers, police officers, district administration officers were part of the team. Coming to the Parliament XI, the MPs and MLAs made it against the Army XI. The captain for Army XI was Brigadier Samrul Hassan, and MP Manoj Tiwari led the Parliament XI. Brigadier Sabrul Hasan, captain of the Sena XI team, remarked, 'I wholeheartedly appreciate MP Ramesh Awasthi's grand gesture in honouring the valour of our armed forces. The way this tournament was organised speaks volumes about his commitment to the nation.' Kanpur Police Commissioner Akhil Kumar, who not only participated but also emerged as Man of the Match, echoed similar sentiments, 'This was not just about cricket. It was about celebrating the bravery of our forces. The first season of Operation Sindoor Cup belongs to the spirit of India, not just to any one team.' Ramesh Awasthi, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Kanpur told ANI, "At Kanpur's historic Green Park, the Operation Sindoor Cup was held. We want to congratulate the Armed Forces for their efforts and give the world a message that when it comes to unity and integrity of this country, everyone will be together and a befitting reply will be given." Union Government to start accepting Haj applications for 2026 from next week
Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, on Friday (July 4, 2025) said that the government will start accepting applications for Haj-2026, within a week. Terming the management of Haj 2025 as historic, Mr. Rijiju said that 'it was one of the most successful ever'. Highlighting that the fatality rate has gone down to 64 this year from 220 in 2024, the Minister also gave credit of Haj's success to the External Affairs Ministry, Civil Aviation Ministry and the Health Ministry. Speaking to the press after participating in the Haj review meeting, held at Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi on Friday (July 04, 2025), Mr. Rijiju added that the government was planning to build on this success to ensure an even more seamless experience in 2026. He requested all the applicants to fill up the form and apply within the allocated time frame. He also directed the Haj Committee of India to deposit the payment to the Saudi Arabian government before the deadline. Officials from the Ministry informed that a companion was mandatory to look after pilgrims above 65 years of age who wish to take the Haj. They added that the government was considering the request for separate accommodations for men and women.
