YSRCP launches campaign against coalition govt
The YSRCP district president and Darsi MLA Dr Buchepalli Sivaprasad Reddy, regional coordinator Karumuri Nageswara Rao, Ongole parliamentary observer Battula Brahmananda Reddy, and ZP Chairperson Buchepalli Venkayamma launched the multi-phase campaign at the YSRCP district office here on Monday.
Nageswara Rao and Sivaprasad Reddy explained that the district president, MLAs, and party in-charges would conduct extensive constituency-level meetings from July 4 to 12 with the mandal party presidents, local body representatives, sarpanches, affiliated wing presidents, and committee members.
They said that the mandal-level meetings will be held from July 13 to 20, and the village-level meetings will be held from July 21 to August 4. The leaders announced that the special committees formed at the mandal-level will coordinate the daily village visits, to engage with local party leaders and take the campaign directly to the people. The YSRCP leaders launched brochures with QR Codes to download the manifesto released by the NDA Alliance, demanding that the NDA government in the state recall its manifesto, alleging it failed to fulfil it.
Former ministers Dr Audimulapu Suresh, Dr Merugu Nagarjuna, Yerragondapalem MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar, and other leaders participated in the meeting.

Amid din, RS approves extension of President's Rule in Manipur
Amid uproar by Opposition members over the Bihar electoral roll revision, the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday approved the resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur for six more months. The resolution was passed last week in the Lok Sabha, where proceedings were again washed out Tuesday due to the Opposition's protest. In Rajya Sabha, when the proceedings resumed after earlier adjournments at 2 pm, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai moved the resolution approving President's Rule in Manipur for another six months beyond August 13 even as Opposition members continued to call for a discussion on the SIR. Deputy Chairman Harivansh said it was a 'Constitutional obligation' to pass the resolution. He then asked YSRCP member Subhash Chandra Bose Pilli to speak on the resolution. Opposition MPs however started raising slogans against the SIR. BJD MP from Odisha Muzibulla Khan said, 'When Manipur law and order situation was bad, Article 356 was imposed. Today, the situation of law and order in Odisha is bad…' 'Double engine government in Manipur failed…. Has the situation improved after so many months of President's Rule or not? Minister should inform us…,' he said. Rai said a rift was formed between two communities in Manipur due to a court order. 'A rift was created between two communities in Manipur due to an order of the High Court related to a dispute on reservations. Those who say it is religious violence are wrong…' Rai said. Rai also said Home Minister Amit Shah had undertaken a tour of violence- affected areas in Manipur. 'He (Shah) met high level officials, security forces, civil society members…' Rai said, adding that the northeast has witnessed widespread development under the Narendra Modi-led government. He also said since the President's Rule was imposed in Manipur, only one incident of violence has been reported. The resolution was passed by voice vote. The House was then adjourned for the day.

Parliament Extends President's Rule In Manipur By 6 Months
New Delhi: Parliament on Tuesday approved a statutory resolution to extend President's Rule in Manipur for another six months beyond August 13. The resolution, which was passed by the Lok Sabha last week, was approved by the Rajya Sabha, amid uproar by Opposition members over the issue of electoral rolls revision in Bihar. As Opposition MPs continued their protests on SIR, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said it was a "constitutional obligation" to pass the resolution. "It's a statutory resolution. All of us, as MPs, have to follow constitutional provisions. These have a time limit within which it has to be disposed of..." Harivansh said. He then asked YSRCP member Subhash Chandra Bose Pilli to speak on the resolution. Opposition MPs however started raising slogans against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls exercise with TMP MPs raising slogans while standing next to the YSRCP member. BJD MP Muzibulla Khan said, "When Manipur law and order situation was bad, Article 356 was imposed. Today, the situation of law and order in Odisha is bad..." "Double engine government in Manipur failed.... Has the situation improved after so many months of President's Rule or not? Minister should inform us... The Centre should take responsibility, removing an elected government and imposing President's Rule repeatedly is also not good," he said. Moving the resolution for passage in the House, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said a rift was formed between two communities in Manipur due to a court order. He also said since the President's Rule was imposed in Manipur, only one incident of violence has been reported. The Rajya Sabha later approved the resolution with a voice vote. The House also passed another resolution by voice vote that sought to amend the Second Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The resolution was moved by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. Manipur was put under President's Rule in February this year after Chief Minister N Biren Singh stepped down, nearly two years after the ethnic conflict began in the state between the valley-based Meitei community and the hills-based Scheduled Tribe Kuki-Zo group of communities.

Driver's murder: YSRCP MLC's wife moves Andhra Pradesh high court over investigation notices
Vijayawada: Lakshmi Durga, the wife of YSRCP MLC Ananta Uday Bhaskar (alias Ananta Babu), has moved the high court challenging the notices issued by the investigating officer in the case involving the murder of Subrahmanyam, the MLC's former driver. She sought directions to quash the notices issued under section 160 of CrPC as part of further investigation of the case. The counsel for the petitioner argued that the notices issued to Lakshmi Durga are contrary to the directions issued by the high court, which categorically said the investigation officer should conduct only a further investigation, not a reinvestigation of the case. However, in the absence of placing any new material on record, issuing notices to Lakshmi Durga would be a reinvestigation, not a further investigation, the counsel argued. Arguing on behalf of the police, public prosecutor Menda Lakshmi Narayana said the petition is infructuous as the notices have already been issued to others and statements have been recorded. He said there have been many judgements by the Supreme Court where the apex court said the investigation officer can summon anyone as part of further investigation of the case. He sought time to submit the details of Supreme Court orders setting forth judicial precedence in the matter. Considering the arguments, Justice Venkata Jyotirmayi Pratapa posted the matter for further hearing to Thursday.
