Showmax 'Untied': Nonku Williams opens up about divorce
Hosted by award-winning media personality Relebogile Mabotja, Untied dives deep into the complex and emotional world of divorce.
The show tells these stories through the eyes of famous South African women who have lived through heartbreak and healing.
Nonku Williams, a businesswoman, single mother, and reality TV star, takes the spotlight in the debut episode, according to Showmax Stories.
South Africans first met Nonku on The Real Housewives of Durban , Showmax's record-breaking series. Now in its fifth season, it stands as the longest-running Housewives franchise on the continent.
But Untied is different. Here, the glitz and glamour take a back seat, and Nonku sat down with Relebogile to open up like never before.
She shared her pain, her journey to healing, and the lessons she has learnt about love and letting go.
Nonku also explaind why she chose this moment to share her story. 'I believe everything happens for a reason, and every experience we go through has a purpose.
Not just for us, but for others who may find healing and hope in our stories,' she said. 'I trust that God has a plan, and this moment is part of it.
My hope is that my message will resonate with and bring healing to another woman who needs to hear it.'
For years, viewers have seen Nonku on reality TV. Yet, she insists Untied shows a side of her that has never been captured before.
'My purpose is bigger than that. I want to share my truth, authenticity, and experiences to inspire, uplift and give hope to others who've gone through similar struggles,' she says.
'Untied was the perfect platform for me to share my unfiltered story.'
Opening up about her divorce and the abuse she endured was no easy task. 'It comes with maturity and understanding that our experiences are meant to help others,' Nonku shares.
'Surrendering to His will gave me the purpose and fulfilment I needed to share my story, despite the challenges.'
Nonku hopes viewers will find strength in her story. 'No matter what they're facing, it's not the end. It's just a season, and with faith and perseverance, they can overcome it,' she says.
'My ministry is for those in their darkest moments, and I pray that my story will give them hope and reassurance that they can emerge victorious, just like I did.'
She admits that revisiting her past, especially the abuse, was both painful and healing. 'While the memories and triggers will always be there.
I'm grateful that I can now speak about them in a way that brings restoration,' Nonku says.
'For me, talking about my experiences has been a form of healing, and I hope that my story can help others find healing too.'
Her divorce marked a turning point. 'I've come to realise that my value and worth aren't determined by my marital status or external validation.
Instead, I've found my identity in God, and that's given me a sense of purpose and freedom,' she says.
Nonku's spiritual journey has guided her every step. 'Without the help of the Holy Spirit, I wouldn't have been able to be so vulnerable and authentic. SHARING HER STORY
God called me to share my story, and it required me to let go of my own pride and fears,' she explains.
Being this vulnerable on a public platform was daunting. 'It's not simple to expose the most intimate and traumatic parts of my life.
I've reached a point where I'm not concerned about what others think or say. I'm focused on sharing my raw, unfiltered truth, and that's liberating,' Nonku says.
Untied airs new episodes every Tuesday on Showmax.
The show will feature more well-known South African women, including reality star Beverly Steyn, actresses Dawn Thandeka King, Mona Monyane and Palesa Madisakwane, among others.
Untied will become essential viewing for anyone who wants real stories of resilience, hope, and healing.
South Africans can look forward to honest conversations and powerful moments that may inspire many to find their own path to healing.

Shade at Siya? Rachel Kolisi posts about 'loyalty'
Rachel Kolisi has shared another cryptic quote, seemingly about her marriage split from Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. Last October, the mother-of-two announced her separation and has been navigating life as a single parent ever since. Rachel has been accused of 'milking public sympathy' with her social media posts ranging from her anxiety attacks to her driving a 'humble' Toyota Yaris. In an Instagram Story, Rachel Kolisi shared another cryptic post on her Instagram Story. It read: 'The only people I owe my loyalty to are those who never made me question theirs'. In recent months, Rachel has posted several quotes that her followers believe are related to her relationship status. Image via Instagram: @siyakolisi In February, Rachel Kolisi suggested that she was being stalked by someone she had purposely blocked. Her post read: 'You block someone on everything, and all of a sudden, xajdhjsd stars are watching your story.' Over the festive season, another read: 'Let the kids believe in Santa. You believed in your ex 25 times.' In his 2023 documentary and autobiography, Rise , Siya admitted to having a rocky relationship with Rachel after confessing to excessive partying, heavy drinking, being addicted to porn, and frequenting strip clubs. There was also the impression that Siya had been unfaithful to his wife. While Siya and Rachel Kolisi have sadly gone their separate ways a year ago, they were still very much in love. Amid the July Springbok test series, Siya posted a collage of images that included his then-wife Rachel and children, as well as fellow players Cheslin Kolbe and Eben Etzebeth and their respective families. In the pics, Rachel and Siya embraced as they smiled for the cameras. Rachel reposted the images, captioning them: 'A Saturday full of my favourite things'. Chidimma mocks news of Miss SA organisation 'downfall'?
Chidimma Adetshina, the South African-born Miss Universe runner-up, is laughing off news that the Miss SA pageant has been postponed and is under new management. The news comes days after pageant CEO Stephanie Weil resigned from her post. In the past year, the Cape Town model – whose father is Nigerian, and whose mother is Mozambican – has been the target of a Home Affairs investigation. Last year, Chidimma stepped down from her position as Miss SA finalist. A few weeks later, she won the title of Miss Universe Nigeria and competed at the international pageant, where she was crowned runner-up. In a press statement posted on pageant fanpage @misssafandom, the Miss SA organisation announced that the finale would be postponed from August to a later date in 2025. This was one to 'ensure the alignment with international and other global events.' Since Stephanie Weil stepped down as CEO, the pageant has been taken under the wing of Africa Fashion International, which has vowed to 'embark on this strategic journey together, leveraging our unique strengths to drive growth and innovation.' In the comments section, pageant fans were mostly unsurprised by the news, given the delay in announcing the Top 30. Also commenting was Chidimma Adetshina, who posted a meme of a man suppressing a smile. When one follower accused the pageant queen of being 'petty,' she responded, 'I'm just smiling. I've given you way too much access to me, and I'm sure that's your biggest achievement this year. Go rest, bye!' Chidimma Adetshina has reacted to news of Miss SA's postponement. The beauty queen is a former 2024 finalist. Image via screenshot: @misssafandom Late last year, the Department of Home Affairs revealed it would be investigating the mother of Chidimma Adetshina, Anabela Rungo, who had unlawfully registered her as a South African at birth via fraudulent documents. Earlier this year, Rungo was arrested and charged with violating the Immigration and Identification Act. She has since been released on bail. Both Chidimma and her mother have had their SA ID and passports revoked. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON MISS SA'S POSTPONEMENT?
