Livin' La Vida Loca singer Ricky Martin has left fans sharply divided with a remark he made on TikTok this week about his fellow pop stars.
The controversy stemmed from a video of Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Hunter Schafer and Karol G sitting at the front row of the Schiaparelli show at Paris Fashion Week.
A fashion account called Dazed posted the video online with text that named Dua, Cardi and Hunter - but neglected to make any mention of Karol at all.
Leaping to the defense of the Colombian songstress, Ricky wrote snidely in the comments: 'Excuse me, but who are the ladies sitting next to @karolg ???'
Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez added her voice to the choir, pointedly noting in the comments of the TikTok post: 'And Karol G btw.'
Fans were split, with some expressing chagrin that Karol was not included as others felt Ricky's was being 'overdramatic' and Karol was not as famous as the others.
The comments section of the original TikTok post was awash with viewers who were stunned that Karol was left out of the text.
'Not mentioning Karol G is INSANE. Shes the first person I saw,' wrote one as another said: 'I saw karol g. Before anyone else was mention who else ..'
A third opined: 'no shade or disrespect but karol g is bigger than dua lipa and hunter schafer. this was weird,' a fourth exclaimed: 'PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY LATINA MAMI KAROL,' and a fifth wondered: 'Y'all don't like Karol G or what?'
'Karol G is thee biggest Latina Artist (more streams than any of these women) and yet is not mentioned? Wild…. Smh..,' an observer marveled.
Others wrote: 'How they not gonna mention the biggest latina Star? lol KAROL G,' and: 'not mentioning karol g is insane yall need to do better.'
On the opposite side was one X user who felt Ricky was being 'Over-dramatic for no reason. Karol G is not known outside Latin America and Spanish speaking communities. Cardi B and Dua Lipa are bigger than her. Just because she has the streams doesn't mean she's big. She's a local Latin act.'
Another argued that the celebrities in the front row who were named by Dazed were 'much more known than karol so why he tryna be shady.'
Still another joked: 'men see three women succeeding and immediately lose all brain function,' as a fourth vamped: 'who tf is ricky martin???'

Ricky received a fair share of swipes at his own career as one joked: 'He's brave bc literally he was forgotten about since livin la vida loca.'
'That's Ricky Martin? Haven't seen that guy since the early 00s talk about irrelevant,' wrote another X user, echoing the same theme.
Ricky's defense of Karol came after she praised him in the telenovela-inspired trailer for her album Tropicoqueta last month.
The rollicking clip features Karol alongside actual Latin soap stars Itatí Cantoral, Ninel Conde, Gaby Spanic, Azela Robinson and Anahí.
At the center of the storyline is a romantic rivalry between Anahí and Karol, who are both swooning over a framed photo of Ricky in the 1990s.
