Watch: Elephant pulls stuck SUV out of river in Kerala, the Internet is amazed

Indian Express29-05-2025
Elephants are revered for their intelligence, strength, and loyalty, and once again, one has proven why. A jaw-dropping video from Kerala is going viral on Instagram, showing a majestic elephant pulling a white Toyota Fortuner sports utility vehicle (SUV) out of a riverbed with ease.
The video begins with the SUV stuck in a shallow river, its wheels, except the front left, submerged. Unable to move, the situation seems hopeless until a mahout (a trained elephant handler) arrives with his elephant, Thiruvegappura Sankaranarayanan.
We next see the elephant gripping a rope tied to the vehicle's front axle with his trunk. Under the mahout's guidance, Sankaranarayanan begins to pull with sheer strength, managing to drag the heavy SUV onto solid ground within seconds. The force and precision displayed have left viewers stunned.
The video was shared on Instagram by user @saidkoya90 with the caption, 'Thiruvegappura Sankaranarayanan… Our little elephant…' and has since amassed over 2.4 million views and 172,000 likes.

Comments poured in, celebrating the animal's power and grace. 'This Fortuner in front of the elephant looks like a Maruti 800,' wrote one user. Another noted, 'We use elephants instead of tow trucks—eco-friendly and majestic.' A third user said, 'There are people who are suitable for everything here. This is Thiruvagapuren.'
This isn't the first time elephants have gone viral. Recently, another video surfaced showing an elephant disabling an electric fence with remarkable precision, proving once again that elephants are not only strong but also incredibly smart.
In India, elephants have traditionally played important roles, not only in festivals and ceremonies but also in industries like logging. While the use of elephants in labour has decreased due to ethical concerns, some domesticated elephants are still employed for specific tasks like logging timber and rescue and relief in difficult terrains under expert supervision.

‘How to get rich while driving auto': Bengaluru driver streams Naval Ravikant podcast mid-ride; netizens hail ‘peak productivity'

A photo doing the rounds online perfectly captures Bengaluru's quirky, tech-loving spirit. Snapped during a recent autorickshaw ride, the image shows a driver multitasking in the most unexpected way, streaming a Naval Ravikant podcast on a mini screen installed above his windshield, all while navigating traffic with directions running on his phone. The X user who shared the photo summed it up best: 'It doesn't get more peak Bengaluru than this.' It doesn't get more peak bengaluru than this @peakbengaluru — Priyanshu Tanwar (@0xTanwar) August 3, 2025 The post quickly gained traction online, racking up nearly 80,000 views and sparking a wave of reactions in the comments. People admired the autorickshaw driver's dedication and ability to juggle multiple tasks on the go. Many also gave him a nod of respect for making the most of his time by tuning in to Ravikant, whose entrepreneurial and philosophical wisdom continues to inspire countless listeners. A user wrote, 'Listening to podcasts while navigating Bengaluru traffic – @peakbengaluru its finest. Peak productivity in peak traffic.' Another user quipped, 'This auto driver's multitasking game is on another level—watching a podcast, navigating with Google Maps, AND dodging Bengaluru potholes all at once! I can't even drink water while walking straight.' A third person commented, 'How to get rich while driving auto. Crazy.' However, not everyone missed the background details in the image. Some users cheekily pointed out a pothole visible on the road behind the rickshaw. A user wrote, 'That pothole, though. BLR never disappoints.' Another person added, 'Yeah pothole spotted.' Last month, a Bengaluru commuter shared a bizarre experience on Reddit, recalling how his autorickshaw driver got distracted mid-ride — not by traffic, but by Instagram. 'What made it worse was that he came across a post by Sreeleela(Actor), and instead of just moving on, he actually slowed down the auto right in the middle of the main road to open her profile and scroll through her feed,' the user wrote. Running late for work, the man said he was both angry and stunned by the driver's casual attitude. Despite his frustration, he admitted feeling 'completely helpless' in the moment.

Influencer says his Lamborghini Aventador that caught fire not scrapped

Last Updated: Bengaluru, Aug 4 (PTI) The owner of luxury car– Lamborghini Aventador that caught fire on a busy street here a couple of days ago, videos of which went viral on social media, has junked the claim that the vehciles has been scrapped. In an Instagram reel, influencer Sanjeev S, who is famously known as Nimma Mane Maga Sanju, showed that nothing happened to his vehicle despite the fire. 'The vehicle is very much here, as you can see it. Nothing happened to it. Only a little damage," pointed out Sanjeev in a reel posted on August 3. According to him, he took his family out on Saturday and while returning, the car caught fire at Kundalahalli. 'I had a fire extinguisher, which I always keep with me. I parked the vehicle to the side, so that people won't be inconvenienced. I then tried to douse the fire," he said. Meanwhile, many people were making videos of this, he said. 'They had uploaded it on YouTube and other social media platforms," he added. Sanjeev said in his Insta reel that people started trolling him about how he often goes to temples — and makes reels of them — and yet that could not save his car. 'But what do they know? It was God who sent me autorickshaw driver and a cab driver to help me put out the fire," said Sanjeev. A wire had caught fire due to petrol leakage; it has got nothing to do with the engineering of the car, said Sanjeev. 'Try to help people when they are facing a crisis instead of making videos," said the social media influencer. The viral videos, which show flames erupting from the rear of the expensive 4-wheeler where its engine is located, had people, including Managing Director of Raymond Group, Gautam Singhania, demanding the luxury car maker to take responsibility. Singhania posted on X: 'Another day, another Lamborghini in flames. This time in Bengaluru. This isn't a 'rare incident" anymore. It's a pattern." 'Why is Lamborghini silent??? Why are their cars catching fire??? Are their cars safe??? Should they be allowed in India???" The viral clips also show passersby rushing to pour water in an attempt to stop the fire.
