PM Chairs Meeting On Power And Water Projects Progress
KUWAIT CITY, June 23: His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, presided over a high-level meeting at Bayan Palace on Monday to review progress on upcoming national projects focused on power generation and water distillation.
The meeting addressed updates on key energy initiatives, including the Shagaya and Abdaliya renewable energy projects; Phases II and III of the Al-Zour North Power Plant; Phase I of both the Khairan and Nuwaiseeb Power Plants; as well as Phase II of the Subiya Power Plant enhancement and Phase IV of its expansion. These projects aim to boost the country's electricity generation capacity from the current 19,000 megawatts to 33,050 megawatts by 2031—an increase of 14,050 megawatts.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of mobilizing all available resources and removing obstacles to ensure these critical development projects are completed within the scheduled timeline. He also highlighted the need to revise existing legislation to enable private companies to participate in electricity generation. Additionally, he expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and other relevant agencies, urging them to maintain the highest standards of quality in execution.
The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Head of the Prime Minister's Office; Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy; along with several senior ministry officials.

Highlighting the significance of this partnership, Al-Dakhil mentioned the visit of a high-level Chinese delegation to Kuwait's Shagaya Renewable Energy Complex in May, reflecting mutual dedication to expanding collaborative efforts. He further explained that Kuwait's initiatives align with the SCO's energy strategy up to 2030, adopted at the 2024 energy ministers' meeting in Astana. Kuwait's advancements in clean energy serve as a valuable model for exchange among SCO members, particularly in renewable energy projects, capacity building, and smart city planning. Amir hails final exam plan, congratulates outstanding students
HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday praised the success of the education ministry's final examination plan for senior high school students to close out the 2024/2025 academic year. In a cable he sent to Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, HH the Amir attributed the success of the examination plan to the diligent efforts of education ministry staff, which resulted in a seamless examination process, he said. HH the Amir also sent cables on Wednesday to Kuwaiti and resident high school and religious studies institute students, congratulating them on excelling in the 2024-25 school year. He wished the students and their families more success, expressing hopes for continuous progress and academic excellence. HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also sent congratulatory cables to Al-Tabtabaei and outstanding students. Al-Tabtabaei had endorsed on Wednesday the results of the grade 12 exams for the literary and scientific divisions, congratulating outstanding students. Al-Tabtabaei appreciated all governmental authorities that contributed to the success of the exams by creating a safe environment and taking all necessary measures to ensure their success. During the meeting, HH the Amir was briefed on efforts exerted by various authorities in the country and the coordination between them to face any emergency. HH the Amir also provided the council members with directives to take all necessary measures and precautions to preserve national security and stability. HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with senior ministers and defense officials, attended the meeting. National carrier Kuwait Airways announced on Tuesday it has resumed its regular flight schedule after the ceasefire following a change in some flights during the fighting that lasted 12 days. KAC had made some changes to flights to Jordan and Lebanon during the confrontation. Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel, along with Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah, inspected the central operations room of the ministry's control sector. This room is directly linked to the interior ministry through a live monitoring system, enhancing the ministry's ability to promptly and effectively monitor and follow up on market activity. Al-Ajeel stressed that maintaining market stability is a national responsibility that requires concerted efforts from all relevant entities. He affirmed that the ministry continues its around-the-clock efforts through its inspection teams, which are intensifying their field visits to ensure that suppliers and commercial outlets comply with laws and regulations, in order to preserve market stability and protect consumer rights. During the visit, the two ministers were briefed on the operations inside the room and the reports submitted by field teams. Al-Ajeel emphasized the importance of continuous readiness and full coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the availability of goods and to monitor the movement of food markets and other related sectors. He noted that the ministry of social affairs has been requested to instruct cooperative societies to cooperate and coordinate with the central operations room. This collaboration would support inspection efforts and facilitate market monitoring and the flow of goods, while maintaining each party's responsibilities within a framework of institutional coordination. Al-Ajeel reassured citizens that essential goods are available and that the strategic stock remains stable, confirming that the situation is under control according to approved plans and that markets are well-supplied to meet consumer needs.
