Blake Lively will give her deposition on Thursday, July 17, as part of ongoing legal proceedings with Justin Baldoni. On Friday, July 11, her legal team filed a motion asking the court to issue a protective order that relocates the deposition to a private location and requires advance identification of all attendees.
The motion comes in response to earlier comments from Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, who in May proposed holding the deposition at Madison Square Garden. Freedman told People, 'Hold the deposition at MSG, sell tickets or stream it, and donate every dollar to organizations helping victims of domestic abuse.'
Lively's representatives issued a statement on July 11, saying, 'Ms. Lively is looking forward to her deposition next week, and it should follow the same rules as every other witness in this case.' They added, 'Justin Baldoni's lawyer has tried to make this matter a public spectacle at every turn, even proposing to sell tickets to a televised deposition at Madison Square Garden.'
According to court documents, Lively's team claims that Baldoni's lawyers 'appear to seek another public relations moment' and the 'intent is to manufacture a harassing publicity stunt' by making her walk through paparazzi or involving media and social influencers. They argue this 'demonstrates a substantial risk of the deposition turning into a publicity event.'
Baldoni's legal team has not denied these allegations, according to Lively's filing. They also allege the defendants have refused to address concerns about harassment and intimidation. The filing adds, 'Defendants have used even the prospect of Ms. Lively's deposition to generate press interest.'
The court previously dismissed Baldoni's counterclaims of extortion and defamation against Lively and Ryan Reynolds in June. The trial is scheduled for March 2026 in New York.

PCAOB chair Erica Williams to step down
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board's (PCAOB) chair Erica Williams has decided to step down from her position. Williams was sworn in as chair in January 2022 and reappointed in October 2024. Williams said: 'With high economic uncertainty increasing the risk of fraud, the PCAOB's mission is as important as ever. It's critical that the expert PCAOB staff continue to be empowered to carry out their work of ensuring American investors are protected.' During her tenure, Williams executed a strategic plan focused on the modernisation of auditing standards, the enhancement of inspection processes, enforcement mechanisms, and the board's operational effectiveness, the PCAOB said in its press statement. Under her leadership, the PCAOB has completed access for the first time to inspect and investigate China-headquartered businesses, resulting in enforcement actions against these entities. Williams' term has been marked by various formal actions, with seven projects covering 24 rules and standards finalised during her tenure. The authority delivered sanctions, with the message that violations that put investors at risk will be met with serious consequences. Williams also oversaw the reconstitution of the Investor Advisory Group and the Standards and Emerging Issues Advisory Group. She also established the PCAOB's first-ever Office of the Investor Advocate. However, Williams' resignation comes amidst media reports suggesting that her departure was requested by Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Paul Atkins. An email sent by Williams to PCAOB staff indicated that she had been asked to resign with Atkins accepting her resignation. The email stated: 'Today, I accepted Erica Williams' offer to resign as chair and a board member of the PCAOB and thanked her for her service. I am grateful she has agreed to stay on until July 22.' Nelly is final Minnesota State Fair 2025 Grandstand act to be announced
It will be getting "Hot in Herre" at the Minnesota State Fair when Nelly takes the Grandstand stage to perform. The fair announced its final Grandstand act for 2025 on Tuesday. Nelly will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, with Ja Rule, Mýa and Ying Yang Twins. Tickets go on sale Friday. Seeing the southern hip-hop artist behind hits like "Country Grammar" and "Ride Wit Me" will cost you a minimum of $54. This will be Nelly's first time playing the Grandstand.
