Combs had to 'approve' escorts, court hears
Prosecutor Emily Johnson asks Cassie Ventura about the requirements for escorts.
"A black male," she replies. She says she used different websites to find sex workers, under Sean Combs's direction.
A text from an escort agency, sent in June 2012, is detailed in court. It includes a photo of a white male, the court hears, and a message saying he is "ready to go".
Ms Ventura says Combs had to "approve" the escorts himself.
"I showed the photos to Sean to see if he was interested. If he wasn't interested I would tell them 'no' and ask for someone else," she says. "Sean had to approve."
She tells the court she never contacted escorts independently, but would do so when the rapper asked her.
She would tell them "this is my husband's fantasy", the court hears, "and this is what I like to do to please him".
Combs and Ventura were in an on-off relationship for about 10 years from around 2007-08, but were not married.

'Combs made us apply baby oil every five minutes'
Cassie Ventura is still answering questions about the "freak offs" she says Sean Combs coerced her into.
She tells the court in Manhattan that they took place at Combs's homes as well as at hotels, which she lists, in cities including New York, Los Angeles and Miami, usually in small suites.
Rooms would be booked under pseudonyms such as Frank Black and Frank White, the court is told.
Ms Ventura goes on to talk about Combs's wishes to have baby oil at the freak offs and says staff would often bring them supplies of oil and also lubricant and condoms.
She says Combs wanted baby oil to be heated with hot water and he wanted it to "be glistening, so we applied it every five minutes".
The rapper "choreographed" the encounters, she says.
Ms Ventura describes one occasion at a hotel in Beverly Hills, where she says there was a pool "filled" with baby oil. Combs told her to get in, she says, but it was "such a mess". However, she tells jurors, "if Sean wanted it to happen, that was what was going to happen".
Prosecutor Emily Johnson asks her to describe the state of a room after a freak off, and Ms Ventura tells the court there was candle wax and oil "all over the place".
Ms Ventura tells the court the hip-hop mogul expected her to take part in freak offs even when she was on her period, and describes one occasion when both he and a male escort urinated on her.
She says this was "disgusting" and she felt "humiliated".
When Combs was charged in September 2024, the government's indictment said about 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant had been seized from the rapper's homes in Miami and Los Angeles when they were raided in March 2024.

Cassie tells court she was 'awake the whole time, no sleep' during days-long freak offs
Prosecutor Emily Johnson returns to the "freak offs" that have come up throughout Sean Combs's trial.
These were sexual encounters involving male escorts, the court has heard, and could last for several hours or even days.
Cassie Ventura says Combs mentioned voyeurism to her within the first few months of their relationship, describing it as a fantasy to see her having sex with another man.
She tells the court the rapper taught her about the swinging "lifestyle" of switching partners. She says she was shocked at first but did not want to upset him, so agreed to try it.
The court hears again that she was 22 when Combs first proposed a freak off.
Asked about the first escort they had an encounter with, Ms Ventura says she does not know his name, but that he was paid to entertain, dance and have sex with her.
She says she had been drinking and taken ecstasy, and was wearing a masquerade mask and platform heels.
"I was high so I didn't feel much," she says. "Did this really happen to me? I didn't know what was going to happen after that, if we were going to do it more frequently. I said yes to more, I didn't want to make him upset or angry."
Escorts were paid thousands of pounds, she says, and "every freak off was directed by Sean".
Ms Ventura tells jurors these encounters became weekly and consistent and that she was "awake the whole time, no sleep", despite them sometimes lasting several days. Drugs kept her awake, she says.
Asked if she wanted to take part in the freak offs, Ms Ventura replies: "No, I felt pretty horrible about myself, I felt disgusting, I felt humiliated.
"I didn't have the words to show how horrible I felt. I couldn't talk to anyone about it."
She says Combs's "eyes would go black, the version I knew of him was no longer there".

Cassie: 'Guns came out here and there. I always felt it was a scare tactic'
Ms Ventura recalls how Combs would sometimes take away her electronics, cars and other possessions as a form of punishment.
"He would take the car away, the house, jewellery," she tells the court. "The physical things didn't matter, I just wanted his approval."
She says Combs would personally take things, or members of his staff or security team would. Asked how long this would be for, she says it depended on what she was being punished for.
Prosecutor Emily Johnson goes on to ask her about safes at Combs's properties.
Ms Ventura, 38, says she had access but not frequently. There was always cash, she says, and jewellery, "sometimes tapes from cameras", as well as guns.
She says Combs, 55, had guns in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Alpine, New Jersey, and that there were occasions when she saw the weapons outside the safes, "laid out by security".
Ms Ventura describes an occasion when she handled one of Combs's guns, saying she was in downtown Los Angeles and high "on mushrooms". She says she was handed a gun to hold in her bag, but was "freaking out" worrying it would fire.
"The guns came out here and there. I always felt it was a little bit of a scare tactic," she says.

Combs told Cassie she looked 'too Mexican'
Prosecutor Emily Johnson asks Cassie Ventura if Sean Combs made comments about her physical appearance during their relationship.
The former couple were together on and off for about 10 years from 2007-2008.
She says comments ranged from her looking "too Mexican" to her hair looking "bad".
Ms Ventura tells the court her nails needed to look a certain way - white or with a French manicure during the "freak off" sexual encounters we have heard about throughout the trial so far - and that her appearance was "very important" to the rapper.
Some days he wanted her to be "really sexy", others "like a tomboy", she adds. "He was just very involved."
Ms Ventura tells the court they also had discussions about breast implants and that he would comment on her working out and keeping in shape.
"Definitely my self-worth took a hit during the entirety of the relationship," she says.
Ms Ventura also speaks being managed as a singer by a man called James Cruz. She says he told her that he was doing it with "one hand tied behind his back", and that everything had to go through Combs.

Court back in session
The judge and jurors are back in the courtroom in Manhattan, New York.
Cassie Ventura, who was in a relationship with Sean Combs on and off for about 10 years, is back on the stand and set to continue giving evidence.
Earlier, she told the court how "freak offs" with the rapper and male escorts became like a job, with one lasting four days, and that Combs was often violent throughout their relationship.

Cassie did not look at Combs as she walked to the witness stand
Today's proceedings should get under way again shortly, with singer Cassie Ventura continuing her evidence.
The musician, who is eight months pregnant, has been emotional at times while answering questions from prosecutor Emily Johnson, wiping away tears and occasionally rubbing her belly.
When she entered the courtroom for the first time, Sean Combs turned to get a look at his ex-partner - but she did not look at him, walking straight to the witness stand.

Scene outside court as Diddy's six children come and go
By Martha Kelner, US correspondent in New York
This is the scene outside court as Sean Combs's children come and go in a black people carrier van, accompanied by at least a couple of bodyguards and what seems to be their own documentary crew.
Six out of seven of his children have been in court (the seventh is still a toddler), though his 18 year old twin daughters did leave during some particularly graphic evidence yesterday.

A look inside the room with court sketches of Cassie and Diddy
While the court is on lunch break, we can bring you some sketches from inside.
Unlike in some US court cases, cameras are not allowed inside to record this trial because it is a federal case.
Instead, we have to rely on sketches to get a sense of what things look like in court - and some of them are now starting to come in.
These drawings from court artist Jane Rosenberg shows Cassie being sworn in as Sean "Diddy" Combs watches on.
And earlier the artist captured Sean Combs signalling love to family members supporting him in court.

Cassie: 'Freak offs became a job - and longest lasted four days'
The court has now taken a break for lunch.
Before this, Cassie Ventura was asked questions about Sean Combs visiting her at home unannounced, which she says happened a lot.
Asked how she would feel about this, she told jurors it would depend on his mood. "It was a stomach in knots moment," she says, as she "didn't know what was going to come of the visit".
She also talked about the "freak offs" again, saying they "became a job" and there was "no space to do anything else".
She said they involved taking drugs and drinking, and having sex with strangers, and that the longest lasted for four days.
"Staying out for days on end, taking drugs and drinking, having sex with a stranger," she said. "They would be 36, 48, 72 hours, the longest one was four days."
Ms Ventura said she recorded hundreds of songs despite only releasing one studio album and one mixtape. The "freak offs" took priority over her music career, she said.
"Sean decided I could not release another album," she told the court.
After the break, Ms Ventura will continue her evidence from 6pm UK time.

Smokey Robinson named in fifth sexual misconduct complaint as investigation widens after housekeepers' claims

A fifth woman has come forward accusing Motown legend Smokey Robinson of sexual battery, officially filing a police report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, according to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ. The woman reportedly spoke with a deputy last Wednesday at the department's Malibu/Lost Hills station, formally lodging her complaint against the 85-year-old singer, whose full name is William Robinson Jr. has reached out to Robinson's reps for comment. Robinson became the subject of a criminal investigation by the department's Special Victims Bureau in May, after four former housekeepers accused him of sexual misconduct. Robinson vehemently denied those initial allegations and told he was 'appalled' by the lawsuit. He has since filed a countersuit against the initial four accusers, alleging extortion, defamation, and elder abuse. The woman reportedly spoke with a deputy last Wednesday at the department's Malibu/Lost Hills station, formally lodging her complaint against the 85-year-old singer, whose full name is William Robinson Jr.; Robinson and wife Frances Robinson (L) in 2024 In June, Robinson claimed the four ex-housekeepers were stalling a rape lawsuit to sabotage his tour and force an 'extortionate' payout. The singer's legal team filed a motion seeking to compel one of the anonymous accusers, known only as Jane Doe. 2, to sit for a deposition - accusing the women of blocking evidence collection while Robinson is on the road. His attorney, Christopher Frost, alleges the women's lawyer, John Harris, 'wants to delay all discovery' until a motion to strike Robinson's counterclaims is decided - a move that could stall the case for months. Frost argues the delay is a strategic attempt to damage Robinson financially during his 50th anniversary A Quiet Storm tour and strengthen the women's settlement demands. 'Plaintiffs have effectively conceded that their intention was to file a salacious lawsuit, do nothing to prosecute it, neuter the Robinsons' ability to defend themselves, and let the lawsuit linger publicly while the Robinsons have to live every day under the unfair specter of public opinion and while Mr. Robinson's tour is negatively affected,' Frost wrote. 'This plays into plaintiffs and cross-defendants' strategy to exact leverage on Mr. and Ms. Robinson.' 'The longer Mr. Robinson's livelihood is harmed, the more pressure there is for the Robinsons to give in to plaintiffs' and cross-defendants' extortionate demands.' Frost claims the women had previously demanded $100 million from Robinson and his wife Frances before filing the civil suit in May - and are now refusing to engage in discovery while letting the allegations fester in the public eye. He's asking the court to compel Jane Doe 2 to appear for a deposition at his Los Angeles law office within two weeks of the motion being heard - and to force the women to cover nearly $5,000 in legal fees Robinson has spent bringing the motion. 'If plaintiffs and cross-defendants are not sanctioned for their abusive behavior, they will expect that they can continue this behavior during the pendency of this case, which will only create more delays and more motion practice,' Frost wrote. 'The utilization of this strategy must be nipped in the bud.' But the women's attorneys blasted the filing as an attempt to intimidate and silence them. 'This motion is a calculated effort to misuse the discovery process in a manner that is both retaliatory and chilling,' lawyers John Harris and Herbert Hayden said in a statement. 'By singling out Jane Doe 2 for a compelled deposition at this early stage, the defendant is engaging in a broader strategy of harassment and coercion - an attempt to retraumatize a survivor of sexual violence under the guise of lawful process.' 'This motion is not about truth-seeking; it is about exerting power. It should be recognized for what it is: a transparent attempt to chill participation in this case and deter other survivors from coming forward. 'We remain steadfast in defending her rights and will hold the Robinsons accountable for any effort to subvert those rights through abusive and vexatious litigation tactics.' The four plaintiffs who are suing Robinson have chosen to remain nameless and are referred to only as Jane Doe in the filings. The civil suit, which also names Robinson's wife Frances Robinson, accuses Robinson of a disturbing pattern of abuse and harassment spanning nearly two decades. The alleged victims worked in his homes in Los Angeles and Las Vegas between 2007 and 2024. One of the plaintiffs alleged that Robinson sexually assaulted her several times in his mansion beginning in 2016. The accuser said that Robinson raped her 'without a condom' at least 23 times. He would then threaten her by saying his wife would be 'mean' to her if she didn't comply, the lawsuit states. Another former housekeeper alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Robinson at least seven times between January 2023 and February 2024, when she was 'forced to resign due to repeated sexual assaults'. She claimed that the singer would take his wife to the nail salon on Saturdays and rush home to 'be home alone' with the housekeeper. The third accuser said she was also working as a housekeeper when Robinson attacked her, and alleged a similar pattern of abuse whereby the singer would lure her to his bedroom. She said Robinson raped her at least 20 times between 2012 and 2024, and on one occasion he offered her $500 to 'allow him to orally copulate her', per the lawsuit. The fourth accuser also says she was attacked by Robinson while working as a housekeeper between 2007 and 2024, alleging that he 'never used a condom' while assaulting her in his home. The complainants allege several offenses, including negligence, sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, gender violence, creating a hostile environment and failure to pay minimum wage. The lawsuit came just weeks after Robinson released his latest album 'What The World Needs Now' on April 25.

Trans migrant sticks nose in the air as she appears in court accused of raping child in NYC park bathroom

A transgender migrant appeared in court yesterday after being arrested for raping a 14-year-old boy in a park bathroom. Nicol Suarez, 30, allegedly followed the boy into a bathroom at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem back in February at around midday, police told the Daily Mail. The boy reportedly left the bathroom and flagged down people nearby, who called the police. The migrant was then charged with first-degree rape and stalking. Suarez wore head-to-toe beige prison garb and a full face of makeup as she stuck her nose up at her court appearance on Thursday. She scowled as officers led her into the courtroom, her expression even more pronounced due to her heavy contour, penned eyebrows and bright pink lip. As she sat down for the court proceedings, Suarez's neck tattoo peaked out from underneath her beige crewneck. She had spent the entire day waiting in Department of Corrections custody after the building was put on lockdown due to unknown reasons. Suarez required an interpreter to understand the proceedings as the two sides went back and forth over the status of her case, a court attendee reported. Suarez required an interpreter to understand the proceedings as the two sides went back and forth over the status of her case Her lawyer asked for more time to file her motions, but Judge Michele Rodney declined the request. After 10 minutes of deliberation, the Judge set a date for a pre-trial hearing in mid-September and Suarez was escorted back to the holding cells. The accused rapist is being housed at Rikers Island, a large jail complex in New York City, located on a 413-acre island between the Bronx and Queens in the East River. Originally from Colombia, Suarez was also wanted in New Jersey and Massachusetts and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement had a detainer on her. After her alleged crime in February, a source told the New York Post that they blamed New York City's sanctuary laws for the attack and said: 'ICE could just pick this person up and deport them back, but due to our sanctuary laws we can't do anything.' 'I feel really bad for the kid that has to go through this because his life will never be the same,' the source added. 'We worry about the migrants but what about the victim? This is a true victim.' A nearby deli owner, Azid Haime, described the incident as 'disgusting.' 'All my body is shaking; I want to sit. I can't explain how I feel. I'm more than angry,' he said, adding that many young kids come to his shop from the park. Suarez wore head-to-toe beige prison garb and a full face of makeup as she stuck her nose up at her court appearance on Thursday Prosecutors initially asked for $500,000 bail and a $1.5 million bond, but the amount was lowered by Democratic Judge Elizabeth Shamahs. Both of the crimes Suarez is accused of are felonies in New York. First-degree rape is a Class B felony with a minimum prison sentence of five years, and a maximum of 25 years. It is also a violent felony, requiring registration as a sex offender. Stalking in the first degree is a Class D felony with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. It's also a violent felony, meaning a minimum sentence of two years is mandatory for those without prior felony convictions.

Justin Bieber and Hailey make surprising move after he aired out their marriage problems on new album

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber presented a united front when the surfaced for a glamorous outing in Los Angeles this week. Over the past few months, Justin has raised eyebrows with his hollow-eyed appearance and his social media posts. Fans have been harboring mounting concerns over Justin's health, and there have also been rumors of marital strife with Hailey. He seemingly laid bare their relationship struggles in the emotional lyrics of his new album – although has declared that he 'will not' leave her. They stuck together this Friday night when they attended a release party for the new record, held at the exclusive Bird Street Club. Although their expressions were serious as they arrived at the venue, they held hands with one another while crossing the sidewalk. The private members club, located on Sunset Boulevard, also played host to Hailey's best friend Kendall Jenner for Justin's fete. Earlier that day, the pair emerged together in Los Angeles ' most desirable zip code, stepping out to lunch at the upscale Maybourne Hotel. Hailey cut a stylish figure in a white tank top cut to hint at her taut midriff, accessorizing with a pendant that spelled out the name of her and Justin's son Jack. Meanwhile Justin attempted to maintain a low profile while emerging from the hotel, pulling the hood of his purple sweater down over his face. By that night, his hood was down as he and Hailey were seen arriving at a release party for his new album at the Bird Street Club. While Justin was dressed in the same casual outfit he had worn to lunch, Hailey changed into a sleek black look that was mirrored by Kendall. His latest album, Swag, which Justin released July 11, appears to allude to a challenging time between the couple, who have been married since 2018. After months of rumors about the state of the A-list couple's marriage amid concern for Justin's well-being he has vowed to ' change' for his wife following a rocky period. In the album's second track, Daisies, Justin appears to be singing about him and Hailey being at loggerheads and failing to communicate clearly. The lyrics read: 'Throwin' petals like, "Do you love me or not?" / Head is spinnin', and it don't know when to stop / You said "Forever," babe, did you mean it or not? / Hold on, hold on. 'You leave me on read, babe, but I still get the message / Instead of a line it's three dots, but I can connect them / And if it ain't right, babe, you know I respect it / But if you need time, just take your time / Honey, I get it, I get it, I get it.' In track 10 of the 21-song track list, titled Walking Away, Justin sings about the couple 'taking a break' and 'testing patience.' 'Days go by so fast, don't wanna spend them with you / So tell me why you're throwing stones at my back / You know I'm defenseless,' he sings in the first verse. 'Girl, we better stop before we say some s*** / We've been testing our patience / I think we better off if we just take a break,' he continues. But the chorus and subsequent verses paint a picture of their enduring love despite strife. 'Baby, I ain't walking away / You were my diamond / Gave you a ring / I made you a promise / I told you, I'd change / It's just human nature / These growing pains / And baby, I ain't walking away,' he sings in the chorus. Ahead of the album's release, Hailey had some choice words for their fans as she took to social media to promote it. She took aim at the 'losers' who've speculated about their relationship as she re-posted a photo of Justin's massive Swag billboard in NYC's Times Square, captioned: 'Is it finally clocking to you f***ing losers?' She appeared to suggest that Justin's recent bizarre behavior wasn't the result of any marriage troubles but due to him being hard at work on his long-awaited music, which he partially recorded in Iceland back in April. Hailey also recently revealed what Justin is really like as a father and admitted she ' struggled to accept' her surprise pregnancy. The Rhode founder and the pop star welcomed their first child together, a baby boy called Jack, in August 2024. Speaking to Vogue Italia as their August 2025 cover girl, Hailey appeared to quash the rumors of a rift between her and Justin, as she gushed over him being an 'extraordinary' father, 'a natural', and 'seeing her as a goddess, a superhero'. However Hailey also opened up about her pregnancy with Jack, revealing it was unexpected. 'The pregnancy was hard for me to accept, it was a surprise and you have to deal with so many emotions,' she told the outlet. 'You realize that your life will never be the same again, yes, it changes in a positive way, but it will never be the same again.' 'It was a huge challenge for me, mentally,' she added. It comes amid claims that Justin 'still has underlying issues' to tend to amid a current hot streak that has seen him rebound personally and professionally, an insider recently told Page Six. The two-time Grammy-winner continues to have people who know him concerned for his well-being the source alleged. The Peaches vocalist currently appears to be on much firmer ground with his supermodel wife. While Hailey had been seen in public without her wedding ring last month, the couple appeared to be on affectionate terms when they were seen earlier this month in Switzerland. The Canadian pop star 'doesn't particularly handle' the limelight 'well,' despite having one of the most recognizable faces on the planet, another source told Page Six. A source close to Justin put the situation in perspective to the outlet: 'Imagine being 14 and famous and people either love you for no reason just because you're who you are, or they hate you? There's not a lot of in between.' The source said they were 'concerned about Bieber's future,' that 'a lot of people wouldn't deal well with that to begin with' and that 'it breaks a lot of people.' Bieber's bad behavior has manifested in recent months in the form of arguing with Hailey online, acting erratically and clashing with paparazzi, the insider stated. The material on the latest album included a trio of comedy skits with comic Druski. One of the bits dubbed 'Therapy session,' in which Druski portrays a counselor, Justin touches on the complications of living life in the limelight. 'That's been a tough thing for me recently - feeling like I have had to go through a lot of my struggles as a human, as all of us do, really publicly. 'And so people are always asking if I'm OK - and that starts to really weigh on me.' Justin said that the attention makes him feel like he's 'the one with the issues and everyone else is perfect.'
