Apple drops first trailer for new survival thriller — and it just became one of my most anticipated movies of the fall
The director's new movie is called 'The Lost Bus' and it's set to arrive on Apple's streaming service later on October 3. It will also receive a limited theatrical release on September 19, which could indicate that Apple thinks it has an awards player on its hands.
The survival drama is set during the 2018 Camp Fire, which is noted as being the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. It stars Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey alongside 'Barbie' alumna America Ferrera, who's an Academy Award nominee.
Between the two stars and the pedigree of the director behind the camera, 'The Lost Bus' is a pretty easy sell, and it's already one of my most anticipated streaming movies of the fall season. However, if you need more convincing, Apple just dropped the first official trailer.
This preview introduces McConaughey's character and sets the stakes as he's tasked with driving a bus full of schoolchildren through a blazing inferno while also attempting to reunite with his own son.
Meanwhile, America Ferrea plays the children's teacher who is also desperate to ensure the children in her care escape the fire unharmed.
In short, the trailer looks extremely intense. The closing shot, which shows the bright yellow school bus speeding down a fire-licked road, the forest on either side ablaze, is particularly striking.

The two-minute trailer also hints at the movie's emotional pull as McConaughey's character reflects on being an absentee father and his desire to make amends for his previous parental failures.
Alongside the trailer, Apple has released an official synopsis for the upcoming movie:
'From director Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events, 'The Lost Bus' is a white-knuckle ride through one of America's deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno."
It certainly sounds like a setup ripe for adrenaline-raising brushes with towering flames, and with Greengrass in the director's seat, viewers can expect a movie that gets increasingly intense across its runtime.
The fact that it's set during a real-world natural disaster will only make its dramatic moments all the more powerful as real people faced this wildfire.
Alongside McConaughey and Ferrea, 'The Lost Bus' also features Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, Spencer Watson and Danny McCarthy. It's based on the novel "Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire" by Lizzie Johnson, and written by Brad Ingelsby and Paul Greengrass.
'The Lost Bus' is set to start streaming on Apple TV Plus on October 3. In the meantime, if you need something gripping to watch to help pass the time, Netflix just added both seasons of a twist-filled sci-fi thriller series and it's managed a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Moonlight Madness Bringing Sidewalk Sales, Music & Family Fun to Main Street
● Moonlight Madness runs Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Main Street. ● The free event includes sidewalk sales, family activities, and live performances, all organized by the Village of Stouffville Advisory Committee. ● VSAC will also feature its 'I Heart Main Street' campaign to promote community pride and support for local businesses. ● The evening coincides with the Town's Patio Series concert featuring The British Invasion, taking place at 7:30 p.m. in Civic Square. ● Local restaurants will be offering food and drink specials inside. ● Children's entertainment includes balloon and caricature artists, face painting, and stilt walkers. ● Main Street will remain open to vehicle traffic. Stouffville residents are invited to support local businesses and rediscover the downtown during Moonlight Madness, a community celebration returning Thursday, Aug. 14. Running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event will take over Main Street between Albert and Pine streets, showcasing local shops, restaurants, and artisans alongside live music and family-friendly activities. Organized by the Village of Stouffville Advisory Committee (VSAC), the evening is free to attend and open to all ages. It is funded entirely through the Main Street special tax levy, which is paid exclusively by Village businesses. Sidewalk sales will line the street, with Village merchants and Stouffville-area artists offering everything from handmade goods to local services. VSAC has also planned free entertainment for children, including balloon and caricature artists, face painting, and stilt walkers. 'We're trying to keep it as Stouffville centric as possible, and we want to make sure that businesses within the Village area have priority to put out whatever they wish to display,' said Madison Kennedy, a Town Economic Development and Tourism Officer who works alongside VSAC. 'While some businesses may not think they are a good fit for the event, they have offered space in front of their building to have a local artisan come and display their artwork.' For Redefined Finds owner and VSAC member Alison Jackson, Moonlight Madness is a fun and effective way for residents to support downtown Stouffville. 'Supporting and promoting local helps the community to continue to provide services, shops, and restaurants right here in town,' Jackson said in comments to Bullet Point News. 'The more people that support and shop local, the more vibrant the town will be.' VSAC will also feature its 'I Heart Main Street' campaign throughout the evening, distributing custom stickers to promote community pride and shopping local. The event also coincides with the Town's ongoing Patio Series , which will feature a free outdoor concert by The British Invasion at Civic Square beginning at 7:30 p.m. The group performs classic British hits, primarily from the 1960s, and seating is first come, first served. 'We want Moonlight Madness to bring a festival vibe to Main Street,' Kennedy said. 'This is sort of a pilot to see if the sidewalk sale can work well with the Patio Series, and whether it can bring more people down and encourage them to shop.' Additional live performances are planned throughout the downtown, including sets by local musicians at Moto Cafe and the Fickle Pickle. Several Main Street restaurants will offer exclusive food and drink specials inside their establishments. While some may set up outdoor displays, no external food vendors will be on-site. 'We didn't want to create any competition for downtown restaurants,' Kennedy told us. 'VSAC wants it to be a way to support each other, and have the community support Village businesses together.' 'We are so excited to welcome back Moonlight Madness,' Jackson said. 'The street comes alive with energy, and it brings the community together for an opportunity to showcase downtown merchants, restaurants, and all that there is to offer in the Village. 'Redefined Finds is going to be 10 years old in February due to the continued support of the local community,' she added. 'We thrive on this type of activity in Stouffville.' Error! King Charles Not Okay With Prince William & Kate Middleton's New Future Plans, Claims ‘Source'
King Charles is supposedly not okay with Prince William and Kate Middleton's new plans for the future. Recently, there have been reports about the Prince and Princess of Wales considering yet another move after three years at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. William and Kate are reportedly now eyeing Fort Belvedere in Windsor Great Park. However, according to some new claims, Charles may not be in favor of the next move of the British royal family members. King Charles is not okay with Prince William spending millions on Fort Belvedere renovations, claims 'source' A new report has suggested that King Charles may be in disagreement with Prince William and Kate Middleton's next potential royal move. The Daily Mail mentioned that The Mail on Sunday newspaper exclusively learned from royal sources that the prince and princess are eyeing Fort Belvedere. William and Kate are currently living in Adelaide Cottage, where they moved in 2022. The royal couple is reportedly already considering moving just three years after living there with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, Charles might not be okay with William and Kate's plans. Rob Shuter's exclusive #ShuterScoop report claims that the king is 'fuming' over the cost. A palace source revealed that it will 'take millions to renovate.' They also claimed that 'Charles sees it as an unnecessary extravagance.' The report notes that the king has reportedly been cutting down the budgets across the British royal family. However, William and Kate are now focused on 'privacy' and 'space.' They are seemingly also considering future plans for Prince George. An insider further explained to #ShuterScoop that William and Kate have 'outgrown Adelaide Cottage.' They suggested that Fort Belvedere seemingly has 'all' the factors suitable for the royal couple and their children. The insider said that it has 'history, land, and proximity to Eton.' Meanwhile, the next grand residence that William and Kate are eyeing is infamously connected to King Edward VIII's. The Daily Mail notes that the magnificent mansion is where he signed the papers that sealed his abdication to marry Wallis Simpson.
