AI 171 crash probe looking at sabotage angle too: Minister
Junior civil aviation minister Murlidhar Mohol said in an interview to NDTV that the black box recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated Dreamliner is with Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which has begun a full investigation into the crash.
"It is being probed from all angles, including any possible sabotage. The CCTV footage is being reviewed and all angles are being assessed... several agencies are working on it," Mohol said.
He ruled out sending the black box abroad for assessment. "It will not go anywhere. It is in AAIB's custody and there is no need to send it outside. We will do the entire investigation."
Terming the crash a "rare case", Mohol said: "It has never happened that both engines have shut down together...
Once the (probe) report comes, we will be able to ascertain if it was an engine problem or fuel supply issue, or why both the engines had stopped functioning. There is a CVR (cockpit voice recorder) in the black box which has stored the conversation between the two pilots. It is too early to say anything but whatever it is, it will come out.
The report will come in three months."
The AI Boeing 787 had crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12 just seconds after taking off for London.

Data from the black box has been downloaded at an AAIB lab in Delhi. The aircraft's CVR and flight data recorder (FDR) were recovered on June 13 and 16, respectively, from the rooftop of the building where the Dreamliner had crashed onto and from the debris. They were flown to Delhi by IAF aircraft on June 24 under security and brought to a lab of AAIB.
Aviation ministry Thursday said, "Analysis of CVR and FDR data is underway. These efforts aim to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the accident and identify contributing factors to enhance aviation safety and prevent future occurrences."

Delhi's Lajpat Nagar double murder accused arrested by UP Police from Chandauli
Varanasi: A 22-year-old domestic worker, accused of the cold-blooded murder of his employer and her 14-year-old son in South Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, was arrested on Thursday from a train at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction in UP's Chandauli while trying to flee to his native village in Vaishali, Bihar. The accused, Mukesh Kumar , was arrested in a joint operation by Mughalsarai Police, GRP and RPF, following a tip-off from Delhi Police . Mukesh, who worked with the Sewani family for four years as a driver and helper in their Lajpat Nagar garment shop, was caught onboard the Patna-bound Magadh Express. According to Chandauli SP Aditya Langeh, the platform was cordoned off ahead of the train's arrival and Mukesh was taken into custody. Man held for neighbour's murder over witchcraft suspicion
Sundargarh: Police in Sundargarh district on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly murdering his neighbour over suspicions of witchcraft. The arrest was made following the discovery of the victim's body, with hands and legs bound, in a pond within the Sadar police station limits. The victim, identified as Mahato Oram (58), was last seen on June 27, the day of Rath Yatra, when he left his home in Baurimunda village to visit a nearby house where country liquor is sold. When Oram failed to return home that night, his family launched a search and eventually filed a missing person report with the police on June 30. The investigation took a grim turn on Wednesday when Oram's body was found floating in a village pond, tied to a stone. Police, along with a scientific team, recovered the body and conducted a post-mortem before handing it over to the family. Rabi Oram, the victim's son, filed an FIR alleging murder, prompting police to delve deeper into the case.
