The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for parts of Bangalore, which is expected to continue until May 27. There were also reports of three deaths due to rain-related incidents in the city as well as three fatalities in Tamil Nadu, according to Indian media outlets.
The downpour in western, northern and eastern regions of India comes due to the intensifying of Somali Jet, a wind system that traps and transports moisture from the Indian Ocean.
Meanwhile in Delhi, many international flights were delayed and diverted as the city received surprising gusty winds, heavy rainfall and hailstorm after a hot and humid day.

Unusual weather system to bring clouds and rain to UAE
Image: Getty Images The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a detailed forecast warning of unusual summer weather conditions across the UAE from July 25 to 28, 2025. The rare weather event is being attributed to the influence of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a key global weather driver that appears to be shifting due to climate change. The ITCZ—where trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge—is known for triggering heavy rainfall and dense cloud cover. According to global climate models and recent NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) research, the zone's movement plays a critical role in tropical weather systems. While the ITCZ typically remains south of the Gulf during summer, the latest forecast highlights its abnormal northward expansion, bringing upper-air low pressure, cloud formation, and isolated rain to the UAE. الحالة الجوية المتوقعة من الجمعة 25 إلى الإثنين 28 يوليو 2025 The expected weather from Friday, 25 to Monday, 28 July 2025 — المركز الوطني للأرصاد (@ncmuae) This rare extension of low pressure in the upper atmosphere, combined with the interaction of northeasterly and westerly winds, is expected to result in rainy areas and cloud development across parts of the country, the NCM stated.

In 2025, India added the Philippines and Sri Lanka to its list of visa-free or visa-on-arrival destinations, bringing the total to 59. This rise reflects a broader global shift where emerging economies like India, the UAE, China, and Saudi Arabia are expanding travel agreements and gaining influence, while traditional powers see declining access. Strengthened bilateral ties across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, especially with Asean nations, the GCC, and African countries, have led to more relaxed visa norms and new visa-waiver agreements, making travel easier for Indian passport holders. *Malaysia (visa-free until Dec 2026), Thailand (requires ETA) *Double-check each country's entry rules ahead of time; duration, eTA requirements, health documents and renewals of bilateral agreements may affect eligibility.
