Euro 2025: Norway Overcomes Finland With Late Goal in 2-1 Win

Fox Sports06-07-2025
Norway did it again at the Women's European Championship on Sunday with another 2-1 win, this time over an impressive Finland team after being outshined for much of the game.
Caroline Graham Hansen provided the class Norway often lacked, deciding the game in the 84th minute with a cross that turned into a shot ending in the Finland net off a post.
Norway's Barcelona forward forced an own-goal from Finland defender Eva Nystrom in the third minute after excellent play on the right wing.
Oona Sevenius deservedly leveled for Finland in the 32nd, showing fine balance to direct a rising left-foot shot from 16 yards (meters).
Finland's tidy play had impressed more than Norway's more star-studded lineup for much of the game, just as Switzerland did in the first half of Norway's opening 2-1 win four days earlier.
"This result was brutal after the performance," Finland coach Marko Saloranta said in translated comments. "They have these world-class strikers, and you cannot give an opponent in such a game two goals."
Norway now sits atop Group A with six points and Finland is on three, from its opening-day 1-0 win over Iceland.
Norway will go to the quarterfinals as the Group A winner if Iceland does not beat host Switzerland in the later game Sunday. Finland's quality
For all its tidy play, Finland was lucky not to go two goals down. Norway struck the crossbar and a post from back-to-back corners, then star forward Ada Hegerberg was denied by goalkeeper Anna Koivunen's brave blocking save.
Finland leveled with a high-class finish by Sevenius after Norway was again robbed of the ball in its own half by effective pressing.
Finland dominated play midway through the second half and forced Norway goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand into diving saves from shots by Katariina Kosola and Eveliina Sumannen, whose effort was tipped on to a post.
Norway rallied late in the game and Graham Hansen wasted a clear chance in the 81st by scooping a shot too high with so much time to choose her spot. It was easier than the chance she would score three minutes later. Next games
Norway finishes its group-stage program against Iceland on Thursday, when Finland plays host Switzerland. The eventual group winner will go to Geneva on July 16 to play the first quarterfinal against the runner-up in Spain's Group B.

Caitlin Clark's WNBA Rookie Card Fetches Record $660,000 at Auction

Caitlin Clark has set yet another record, this time with her 2024 WNBA rookie card selling for the most money yet for a female athlete at a public auction. Clark's Rookie Royalty WNBA Flawless Logowoman 1/1 card sold Thursday night for $660,000. That sale price tops the previous mark of $366,000 for Clark's 2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl 1/1 PSA 10 in March. The card that sold Thursday night is signed and inscribed with Clark's scoring total for her rookie season. The card also includes a Logowoman patch seen on WNBA jerseys, making such cards a top pick for collectors. This card entered extended bidding at $336,000 before reaching the final sale price. The Flawless Logowoman was one of seven Clark cards sold at Fanatics Collect on Thursday night and one of four cards from Panini America's 2024 Rookie Royalty WNBA collection. Now 14 cards featuring Clark have sold at public auction easily topping her salary this season with the Indiana Fever, with the latest going for more than Clark is scheduled to make over her rookie contract with Indiana. This mark may be challenged Aug. 9 when an Immaculate Logowoman 1/1 Clark card is scheduled for sale. The price for that card was at $180,000 on Thursday night before a buyer's premium on 17 bids. First official images of Barcelona's away kit for next season

The first round of official images of the kit set to be made use of by La Liga champions Barcelona in fixtures on the road next season have on Friday surfaced online. And the photos back previous reports, in confirming that Nike are planning a brand new look for Hansi Flick's troops for 2025/26. This past season, Barcelona's away jersey was a black colour, featuring red and blue details. Next time out, though, the Blaugrana will line out away from home sporting an altogether contrasting colour. A 'yellow-gold' tone, which appears on first viewing as almost beige, will dominate the colour scheme across the shirt's base. From here, black and blue/purple designs will also be a prominent feature, as showcased in the images below: Barca's away kit for 2025/26 comes as the latest addition to the 'Mamba' range, part of a collaboration with the late Kobe Bryant's personal brand.
