Yes, some of us like to hibernate when the heat takes over but there's no need to press pause on our social life as there are loads of indoor eateries that are perfect for those summertime meet-ups. Cute brekkie spots Bestie dates can't come to a halt just 'cos it's hot and if you want somewhere cute to catch up with the girlies then these spots slap when you want a morning of coffee, food and chats. Brix Café Brix Cafe – supplied This place manages to feel like an escape from busy city life with its Jumeirah Fishing Harbour backdrop. With a menu of freshly baked goods and coffees that hit it ticks all the boxes for breakfast plans. Why go: For those viral flat croissants. Brunch and Cake Brunch & Cake Jumeirah Islands brings the outdoors in even in the summer with its floor-to-ceiling glass doors that give views out to the lake. The in-house bakery has all your fav pastries and cakes and the all-day menu does not disappoint (especially when it comes to portion size). Why go: Not only is this Jumeirah Islands venue adorable, but the food hits. The LoLo House This new restaurant has been living rent-free in our heads ever since we discovered the chilled spot. With some Dutch dishes (we rate the pancakes) on the menu, plus toasties, sandwiches, smoothies and more it's a good choice for a laid-back breekie. Why go: It's not often that we can legit say something is a hidden gem but this café tucked away in Al Quoz is. Lazy lunch locations The Pods As the name suggests, a reservation at The Pods means you will literally dine in a pod. These glass orbs at Bluewaters have probs popped up on your fyp and summer is the ideal time to book in for meal. Inside each air-conditioned pod is a cosy set up and you can even play your own tunes. And when you want to order from the Pan-Asian menu you just ring a bell. Why go: For a private lunchtime experience that is giving different. Tagomago This chic seaside restaurant not only looks like it's straight from the Med, but also serves when it comes to Spanish cuisine. Despite the outdoor area being closed in summer the indoor space gives charming finca vibes and is perfect for a summer social. Why go: For tapas (aka girl dinner) and sangria. Scalini Italy is on our summer bucket list and if you are craving those Amalfi flavours then a lunch at Scalini will work. This elevated venue is known for its first-class seafood, pasta and Italian cuisine plus the setting is just gorgeous. Why go: In the summer the outdoor terrace is covered with a tent and air-conditioning gives an alfresco feel. Dinner date-worthy restaurants Madame Li Supplied If you've not visited Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab Hotel yet then booking a reservation at Madame Li is a great excuse to. It's the perfect date night spot with its low lighting and stunning interiors and the menu is *chef's kiss*. With everything from raw dishes to salads, rice, noodles, curries and more you'll want to order several dishes to share with your s/o. Why go: Legit some of the tastiest Pan-Asian food you'll find in Dubai (make sure to order the Peking Duck and lobster dim sum). Ristorante Loren Located at The Club on Palm West Beach, Ristorante Loren is one stunning restaurant for a romantic summer date night. The elevated space is chic AF and the Italian food is five-star. Say less. Why go: For a slice of La Dolce Vita in Dxb. Mott 32 On the 73rd floor of The Address Beach Resort in JBR, serving plates of modern Chinese cuisine, Mott 32 is one to know about if you want a special dinner that mixes an elegant setting with yummy food with your s/o. Dubai's Tresind Studio and Orfali Bros on World's 50 Best Restaurants list again
Orfali Bros and Tresind Studio are among the World's 50 Best Restaurants. The annual list was revealed on Thursday night in Turin, Italy. Tresind Studio ranked at No 27 (down from No 13 last year), while Orfali Bros re-entered the list at No 37 (up from No 64), making them the only restaurants from the Middle East to make it into the prestigious ranking. In May, fusion-Indian restaurant Tresind Studio earned its third Michelin star after what head chef Himanshu Saini described as a 'marathon' effort by his team of 'champions' over the past few years. The immersive dining restaurant opened in 2018. Saini first made headlines in 2022, when Tresind Studio – which is located at St Regis Gardens on Palm Jumeirah – made it on to both the debut Mena's 50 Best list (coming in at No 4) and the Middle East's first Michelin Guide (earning one star, before another in 2023 and a third this year). Orfali Bros – run by Syrian brothers Omar, Mohamad and Wassim – topped this year's Mena's 50 Best Restaurants, making it the third time in a row that the Michelin-starred restaurant has won the honour. Located at Wasl 51 Mall in Jumeirah 1, Orfali Bros serves Mediterranean cuisine with a global influence. The creativity of its fusion fare is evident in dishes such as foie gras with quince vinegar and hazelnut miso; umami eclair with porcini emulsion, Marmite, cacao nibs and beef prosciutto; and adobo chicken wings. Travel: A 2-day itinerary for your getaway to Mallorca in Spain
Hospitality, at its core, allows our walls to drop. It creates a space where the self can step forward unmasked; the person behind the performance. I quickly learned what that feels like at Jumeirah Mallorca, in Spain. It expressed itself in golden-hour light, in stillness, and in intuitive gestures. The Goldilocks effect: a balance between attentiveness and calm. On reflection, I arrived needing a reset. (Don't we all?) And what I received was the kind that seeps into your nervous system. A rest from pace, noise, and performance. And don't get me started on the team. I must have spoken to a dozen of them: Nicky, Ruben, Guillermo, Luis, Carla, Annie. I gained so many intangible gifts in my short time with them. Nicky reminded me that it's possible to balance island chill with ambition and grace. Ruben and Guillermo stood quietly by as I tried to weave my (still-broken) thoughts together over my final sunset. Carla and Annie were nothing but charming from the moment I arrived. And Luis sent me home with an incredibly auspicious gift. A quiet encouragement. The kind that says, 'Keep going. You're on your way.' On the first night, I had one of the most extraordinary vegetarian meals I've ever tasted — vibrant, deeply satisfying and perfectly balanced. The standout? A vegan ceviche so delicate and flavourful I still think about it. And as if the evening wasn't magical enough, I found myself seated beside a real-life Pocahontas (of the Mallorcan male variety). And I'm one who hadn't even seen the film. But as I picked his brain over dinner, he spoke to me of ancient traditions, sacred trees, and the island's layered wisdom. I was utterly immersed. Despite the hotel's beauty and barefoot elegance, this was no 'sit by the pool and lounge' sort of trip. Annie, with her effortless charm and contagious energy, was determined for us to see more. And I'm so glad she was. We ventured to Viti Vinci, where scent becomes philosophy, and watched as perfumes were composed like symphonies: layered, subtle, unforgettable. We explored Herodian Art, a space that Katharina made to feel more like a sanctuary than a showroom, where ancient craftsmanship met modern expression with reverence. And at SONMO, short for Son Moragues, we witnessed first-hand the genius of regenerative agriculture that produced the olive oil on my plate. I left with a deeper appreciation for the slow, sacred work of the land. Each of these initiatives works closely with the hotel and reflects its ethos: to collaborate with Mallorca's creatives and stewards, and to help regenerate the very island that welcomes its guests. Almost becoming a presence in its own right, the spirit of hospitality danced through every smile, every conversation, every moment of silence.
